As I took the JP2 pic above, I’ll keep checking on that machine. Another thing taking a beating is the post protecting the upper flipper.

Quoted from CLEllison:

Just steer clear of anything that has a "Mirco" label on the playfield. Problem solved.

Not solved, if you believe Mirco’s post where he says he doesn’t supply PF’s for Stern.

Quoted from jellikit:

I didn't see pooling or chipping with any of these titles.

I dont either, but it does look Stern gave you a dried ass right sling rubber on your DP.

As the original poster of a JP2 with the clear issues around the sling, I returned to the game today to take a closer look.

Yup, every post in some way had this issue, all up the PF. AGAIN, THIS IS THE SAME GAME AS I POSTED BEFORE. Just showing it’s more than the one pic I showed.

Welp, I got to play a different JP2 tonight... and it was far worse with the PF issues than the other JP2 I first showed. This one has the bubbling full on cracking at one sling and it has chipped off on the other showing bare wood. 0-2 for ones I’ve seen in the wild...

There is washer/post pooling in the background of the second Munsters picture that you posted.
This sucks a lot.

Good catch!

Has Hitler weighed in on this? I can't imagine he's too happy about it.

Oh he did...

Quoted from yancy:

But this head-in-sand response from the company gives me little comfort or confidence in the product

And they also just sent out a "Stern Pinball at Comic Con" marketing blitz email at 12:50pm today. Just pretend nothing is wrong...

Stern - We are not aware of any PF clear issues... Now if you'll excuse us, before we put our heads in the sand, we have to go do a bunch of marketing blitzes, including uploading a SW The Pin video to Youtube which certainly shows the outstanding quality of our clear coat. Just please don't hit pause.

Quoted from Psw757:

Where did they say it wasn’t an issue publicly?

Quoted from flynnibus:

Yeah... and the reality that they've change their builds to put washers under slingshot star posts... something they never did before. And magically, they make that change now...? How convenient...

Which is a change in BoM, so I'm sure they'll update their manuals, and put out a service bulletin for all games shipped previou... ah, who am I kidding.

#502 75 days ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

Have you looked in a stern manual in the last few years? They don't even include lists of parts like ball guides, posts, plastics, or anything... mounting hardware is way down the list of 'shit you won't find in a stern manual'
Frankly issues like the manual (since about Metallica era) are so abysmal and will really hurt us going forward.. yet most collectors are oblivious to it

Lol, yes, I said it in jest owning 2 modern sterns and about to get a different one in the mix. I just know in my work experience as an Engineer, a band-aid fix still requires Engineering Change Notices for BoM, Work Instruction changes for Assembly, Cost Re-roll for Accounting, Manual changes for After-sales...etc.

Meanwhile, I can imagine somewhere in Illinois, an assembler was recently given $40 out of petty cash and told to run down to Home Depot and buy as many boxes of washers the "size of nickels" as that money can buy and to start putting them under sling posts.

Quoted from GorillaBiscuits:

ps: great job on Spiderman, it looks brand new next to my year old Iron Maiden!

And at the moment I’ll just put in a shameless plug that one can find my SM for sale on regional northeast CL sites!

But seriously, that sucks about your IMDN. I’ve seen two JP2’s, a Munsters Prem, and am IMDN all with this issue... all in the last 2 weeks. It sucks for sure and hope owners are made whole for this shit QC.

Quoted from snaroff:

Correct (photo attached).
To each his own, I guess. Fortunately, from the players perspective, it doesn't look nearly as bad as this photo. Just to be clear, this is purely aesthetic...the clear coat is absolutely smooth (i.e. can't feel the wood grain). Nevertheless, it's a sign that the PF's aren't being sanded/smoothed properly...yet another sign of dialing down the labor cost to produce a PF. That's what it's all about, folks!
[quoted image]

I’m sorry, I’ve seen this issue many times before, but in that photo it looks like Stern forgot to remove the bark before printing and clearing!

I had NIB money burning a hole in my pocket. Really like JP2, IMDN, and DP. But since I posted that original JP2 on location with PF issues that ain’t getting better, my choice was crystal clear... just like this lower PF window.

Quoted from JWP72:

A claim was submitted to Stern last week...we'll see what happens...

Hopefully you submitted better pics and alternate angles. Impossible to see the issue there.

Thicker glass like clear does not mean better.

Lol I don’t know. The late, great Stuart Scott always told me “if some is good, more is better!”
