I really hope this playfield shit gets worked out. I got 2 bad playfields from Stern and the one replacement the wood sank around the magnet. So really 3 bad playfields. October 2016 was my last NIB purchase. I was so excited to get a Wonka then this. I pulled my deposit and refuse to buy any piece of shit these guys make regardless of how cool it looks. It's been hard as all these new titles come out. Getting burned on these is even worse for me. So I'm out and staying out and as others do the same these problems will either go away or clear coat will kill pinball.

Someone should make a documentary about a person that goes across the world doing playfield swaps. The people, the places, the stories, the time.

This has been going on since 2015 with Stern anyways. Back then I was the minority now it seems the majority has bad playfields. Mine continued to chip down to the wood. It's a horrible feeling watching your very expensive fun toy fall apart to the point you don't want to play it. I really feel for everyone because I've been there. And have lost the whole NIB experience in this hobby.

I would be very interested to see if people's playfields with minor or major pooling hold up. My MET showed a crack so I put Mylar on it. Then it continued to grow until the paint and clear coat started chipping off.

I don’t think Stern will go out of business. If everybody did a charge back the distributor will first take the hit. Manufacturers need to support them or there will be nobody to sell their product. Then Stern will go after the manufacturers of the bad playfields they are the ones that may not survive a hit like this. And if nothing is done and people stop buying, like me after 3 bad playfields, then everyone along the supply chain will suffer. As long as parts are still being made for games then there will always be plenty of pinball machines to buy and play.
