Quoted from Pinchild:Yes.
Folk from Colorado do have anger issues.
What’s your closest airport
Pinside fight club! Oh yeah, it’s on!
Quoted from swampfire:Has the operator contacted Stern about it? Looks like this was before they started shipping with larger washers.
Someone photoshop a sling post with a washer that touches the washer on the other side of the playfield.
Could they put the art on the washers? All metal playfields...wait, then the clear on the metal would bubble and we’d need a washer
Quoted from yancy:"No widespread issues here at Stern, can’t speak for other manufacturers though. If anyone does have any issues with their games though they should definitely be reaching out to their dealer or distributor." Re: JJP vs Stern....sounds like if you are "waiting" to see how Stern handles it, the wait was over a couple weeks back.
Quoted from zaphX:twisting their mustaches thinking up evil ways to piss off
How much per machine for a good coil stop for fuksake? Nobody said evil.
Quoted from Deez:. I think this issue is being blown out of proportion. Seems to hold up fine.
You realize your sample size is 1 right?
Quoted from BeaglePuss:All the art that I’ve seen lifted on DP playfields, included my own, had no evidence of pooling.
Do you have pics?
Quoted from Chrizg:27 plays in
They’re addressing it by selling LE’s to putz’s.
Selling LEs to those unaware of the issues—not meaning to say buying an LE is putzy.
Quoted from JWP72:May be tough to tell in the picture.
Quoted from pipes:I see nothing wrong in that pic.
Like was mentioned a few posts ago...what are you expecting Stern to do at this point
Clear and art is rising up beyond edge of washer. If that continues, gets hit by ball or just from vibrations, it will crack, fall off and expose bare wood.
27 plays, 3 months, 3 years, that shouldn’t happen.
It’s called a defect. Depending on the product, consumers usually expect to be able to return an item, have repair done professionally at no charge, or get a partial refund. In pinball though, people apparently have various expectations ranging from rage to full support of the defective products
I’ll help fund a t-shirt lot to be given out at entrance to Stern/JJP seminars.
White shirts, black lettering, “GOT POOLING?” or some such.
You got to grab their attention. A hundred people walking around with these would get the message across.
Quoted from Whysnow:worked for "where's the code?"
Throw that on the back, probably still applies
Quoted from o-din:You left out the word "incompetent"
Be fair, they’re new at this
Quoted from Multiballmaniac1:he “heard” the playfield issues were resolved a couple weeks ago
He said pooling was fixed, he did NOT say “flaking” was fixed. We need a flowchart.
Quoted from bellbrand:I wonder what qualifies for a replacement
That’s why they never make an announcement about “issues”. It would lock them in to making everyone whole and not just the squeaky wheels.
I assume they also hope people will just think it’s not worth the trouble and give up.
Quoted from Chambahz:(Flamesuit on)
At this point you are coming across as a “pity party” for yourself. No offense, but you stated your position in several long posts. Seems like you just want to argue. You think pinside = babies, others think stern and Jjp are fleecing people with peeling paint. Both can be true.
Quoted from Izzy24:185 games in
That sucks. Has someone constructed a timeline of when the quality went downhill? At least as far as paint/clear goes?
Quoted from ArcadiusMaximus:Not really a head scratcher. You had different processes, different materials, and a whole slew of toxic chemicals that are now considered unsafe.
That gets stated and accepted as fact, but not sure we know that for sure. That’s why I was wondering about a timeline by release as to when this started
So yes on GOT.
Copied this from pricing thread...so, going back to GOT. Any earlier than that? Kiss? WWE? TWD? I haven’t heard any on those. So around 2014-2015 was there a change?

Cars aren’t wood anymore though...wood is a mysterious substance that no manufacturer has been able to figure out. I can’t come up with any industry that has tried to paint graphics on wood. Nope.
Quoted from Rum-Z:there's skateboards
Brainstorm. Stern could release a Tony Hawk LE and the playfield could be built by a skateboard company. Just spitballing
Stern’s business plan is a mystery wrapped in a riddle covered in soft clearcoat...working though so what do I know?
Quoted from Beaverz:Williams, Bally, Gottleib never told you anything about their playfields either. It's the same as always. There were problems with diamondplate back then too.
What was home collector vs operator back then? Percentage. Probably flip flopped now.
Quoted from Beaverz:That's not relevant.
Seems relevant in that an operator heavy client base that buys games in large quantities and writes them off would be vastly different than a bunch of home collectors with smaller quantities of games. More people to answer to and pickier people and that’s your growth market so you better make them happy.
So, in short, relevant
Quoted from Beaverz:Not Stern is making the same commercial games as before. The fact you choose to buy then and put them in your house does not change that. If I buy a shipping container to put in my back yard I don't expect it to be made differently than one that's going to be rushed around. If be buying something that's not made for my market segment and if be expecting the commerical level. Stern can name them le, sle, etc it's still the same stuff.
Obtuse
Quoted from Beaverz:Realistic.
Just talking past each other so no worries.
Welcome to pinside btw, great to have another informed opinion in the mix. That container analogy was spot on. Lots of LE containers going out these days. I have had my eye on a super signature LE container myself. Hopefully the clear holds up now that they are marketing specifically to the discerning container collector. #containerside
Quoted from knockerlover:It's B.S. that distributors are claiming new LE's have no more playfield issues,
Quoted from Dr-pin:So what is the current consensus?
Following the JPLE thread, some games are fine, others having non clear coat related issues, haven’t heard any pooling lately but the sample size is literally 4 or 5 I think. I’d give it awhile myself.
Quoted from iceman44:Get it?
No. You are wrong. Get it?
Repeatedly making specious, lawyerly sounding arguments doesn’t make people dropping $8k on a peeling playfield feel any better.
Quoted from Chrizg:27 plays in[quoted image][quoted image]
This dude played down to bare wood in 27 plays.....that’s what the issue is....not damaged HUO games from normal use forchristsakes. Intentionally obtuse?
Quoted from rotordave:The point is, these things are shipping out in a sub-par state ... the buyer shouldn’t have to be “buyer beware”, he’s buying a brand new pinball machine with a big pile of his hard earned money, and he should expect the playfield to last for years. Not weeks.
Yeah, well...what’s your point? Oh, sorry you actually directly stated your point. Literally used the phrase “the point is”
Quoted from iceman44:a leader of the don't get it club. LOL
Missed the point in that post too! You are on a roll, 0 for everything!
There isn’t a don’t get it club either. Quit talking out your ass. It’s more of a don’t get it loose association without a charter formed by individuals seeking high quality $8000 man toys. Sad world where demanding quality is a pejorative to some.
Quoted from PW79:so you can get a 3rd if that’s the case
wall to wall hanging art
Quoted from hawkmoon77:Has anyone tried to remove a post from an area where there is pooling but no chipping? I'm curious if the bottom of the post is stuck to the clear when trying to remove it
For JJP, Jack practically screamed do not remove posts with this issue happening...for what it’s worth
Quoted from hawkmoon77:So... After talkng with Stern about my issue, I had the distinct impression that they know that people intend to do this and why it's their new default offer.
Yet, if they had been able to mail their playfield to Stern, for Stern to swap...
Quoted from Mike_J:distributors who don’t accept credit cards.
There are several legit stern distros that sell via ebay. You not only can pay via cc that way and earn ebay bucks, you also have ebays customer-centric satisfaction guarantee
Quoted from MK6PIN:never understood why LE's couldn't have more usable features, as they cost more money
Maybe the LE should mean playfield warranty. I think CGC ups warranty with each model...maybe Stern does too, no idea.
Quoted from Who-Dey:being a dick on here wont get you very far with most of these people
Quoted from Who-Dey:You better hurry and get that playfield protector on there before it dimples so bad the ball starts rolling unevenly!
Quoted from gblack:Social media isn’t the proper forum.
Might be effective even if it isn’t proper. They case by case this shit and do as little as possible and the general public knows little. If Stern defects were trending it might raise more of an alarm than a pinball podcast watched by 20 people. Of course all this is dependent on them caring and not having the market by the balls.
