It appears that people recognized pooling issues on JJP Pirates and it continued into Wonka. JJP initially didn’t much of anything as far as I can tell to rectify the issue or even acknowledge that there was a problem to even begin with. I imagine distributors had to be made aware of these issues as well, but that didn’t stop anyone from selling defective games.

I used to buy games from Jack when he was a distributor for Stern, but I’m very disappointed in how he responded and handled these issues. Definitely gives me pause when considering any future JJP titles. Pinball is expensive and this is unacceptable.

Quoted from wesman:

Well sadly, if JJP does ever go away, it would leave a legacy of arguably the greatest five games of the last 2 decades.

I would agree with you, but then we’d both be wrong.

Quoted from Spyderturbo007:

The only thing I could think of is that they didn’t want you to be able to hold up the flipper and make the shot wider (easier).

Keith on a podcast said it was to protect the flipper. I also think he said it was bumped out to prevent straight down the middle drains as well for when someone doesn’t use the flipper.

Hopefully a quick resolution from Stern. Distributor... all sales final...[quoted image]

What distributor? I’d like to avoid them at all costs, especially if they aren’t willing to advocate for you.

Quoted from Mike_J:

He comes off like a real horse’s ass.

I agree. He couldn’t even say Keith Elwin’s name and kept referring to him as a kid.

Quoted from Multiballmaniac1:

I was only cheering on Deeproot for fun. Now I am in Spooky's corner and CGC. Stern got too greedy and overconfident.
Even if I leave the hobby I’ll always be on pinside.

Well, all my CGC games have had dimples. They haven’t been any different than my Sterns.

I’m just hoping Deeproot and Haggis force Stern, JJP and others to put in a better quality playfield. These things are too expensive to be experiencing these issues.

Quoted from chuckwurt:

It’s to deflect balls coming down the right orbit. Elwin said without the post you get SDTMs all the time.

Head2Head pinball podcast episode 106 right before the 10:00 Mark.

Keith said number one reason is to protect the flipper. Then he said they offset it to prevent SDTM drains.

Wish Stern would do something similar to Haggis and just end all this crap. I’m interested in TMNT, but tired of these cheap playfields. If Deeproot delivers, it will be nice to have some more competition.

Quoted from Dr-pin:

That is so much bull it's not even funny.
They make epoxi-floor where people park their cars.

I have an epoxy floor that can withstand jet fuel. Hilarious that people think water based coatings can’t be strong.

There’s several clear car paint coatings that are super hard and resistant to rock chips, perhaps they need to be explored.
