My Williams Contact has issues with the sound.

When powered up, the game plays as it should. After it has been on for a while, the sound cuts out completely.

I am out of my comfort zone with solid state machines, so any help would be appreciated!

Where do I start?

Thanks!

Eric

Any time there's a time based or audio issue the first thing I do is recap the boards, if they haven't been yet.

I re-capped the sound board.

The sound worked for a while but, the original problem still exists.

Sound works for a while and then cuts out.

Where do I go next?

Thanks, E

Try (carefully) removing all socketed chips - maybe squirt some contact cleaner spray at pins first, to make it easier. Inspect chip pins, if they are stained black, clean with fine abrasive paper. Put some more contact spray into socket holes and re-insert chips. This may help, but very often especially Scanbe brand sockets just go bad and need to be replaced (needs some experience in pc board working). When replacing, the easiest way is to first pry off the black plastic part, then unsolder and lift one pin at time.

OK.
Will try that.
Thanks!
