This seems like the kind of thing I should know what to do about by now, but alas...

The left pop bumper on Congo does not fire. The resistance tests the same as the other pop coils. There is power at the coil. When you ground the coil, it fires.

In the solenoid test, it does not fire (but the others do).

(Not related, but the switch for that pop bumper tests fine in switch mode).

What's the next thing to look at here? My understanding is that if a transistor were to blow, this would cause the coil to be locked on (and thus in my mind that rules out the transistor).

Transistors can also go open cicuit.

Did you try grounding the tab of the correct transistor? You may have a broken wire or a cracked header pin.

I did not know this - thanks!

No...excellent idea.

Okay, this was pretty simple. While looking at transistors, I noticed that one of the wires into one of the connectors in the backbox was clearly not secure. Same color wire as the coil not firing. Problem solved!
