Quoted from Chosen_S:A little more progress, I think I have all of the corrosion scraped away, I really feel like the corrosion that was on the backside was shadowing from the front side, now that I have all of the corrosion cleaned on the front side, I don't see any on the backside . That includes holding it up to the light and every angle I could look at it at to follow the shimmer of the traces under the solder mask to look for spots or any other anomalies that look anything close to corrosion under the solder mask .
Next I'll test for continuity again in case any trace may have broken, they all look good to the naked eye though .
did you used a special product to clean the corrosion or just sanded it?
Quoted from Chosen_S:So far I've cleaned it with a vinegar solution and alcohol, and sanded with a fiberglass pen and some deferent high grit sand paper. Sanding it allows me to get the corrosion off in a more direct manner.
I would much rather buy a new board, but I want to hone my skills in this discipline rather than just throw money at the problem in this case. If it takes a dump I'll be getting a new one eventually

Quoted from DEN:I just got a Congo from a warehouse, untouched for last 16 years.
Pf is in great condition, im cleaning/working on it. Looking forward to get done with it, and start collecting some diamonds. Hippooooes
i m curious but how much in Danmark for a rarity ape like this!
Quoted from Chuckwebster:thats funny- im at the same stage of restoring one. My playfield is stripped and now removing all the stainless steel ramp protectors so they can be polished. (who's bright idea at Williams was it to rivet everything directly to the ramps?).
do not say that they rivet everything straight on the ramp i have to restore mine very soon
Quoted from dudah:Congo is coming to my home shortly! I bought it as a working project, needs a deep shop job. Thinking about making a fluorescent colored plastic for the left ramp cover. Anyone else interested? I'm not home much and it's a bit of a pain to get to the laser cutter I use so gauging interest.
that sounds good do you know how much it is?
i might be interested in.
thanks
