Quoted from Dawson:At the beginning of the ball , and after a lock .. Takes about 2 minutes , just long enough to order a beer, and come back to find your on ball 2 ..
Hey Dawson, if you need 2 minutes to launch a ball, I guess your priorities are drinkin' and buls*** instead of playing pinball, so why do you really care???
And man, please enlighten me, if you need to order a beer, I could only imagine that you also have to pay to play, so how would you turn the auto-fire off?
LOL.... just messin 'round..., ok?
Quoted from gliebig:Have a few games under the belt just learning what to do. What is the ZINJ all about?
Dude, I don't quite remember, but as I recall, that's the name of the lost city of gold/emeralds... Maybe we need to watch the movie again (or read the book)!
Quoted from gliebig:So I have to drain one down the right side to light the J?
Not necessarily! And neither the "Z", if you know what I mean!
Quoted from freddy:Movement is good . Don't want the ramp to crack or break
Well pointed!
Quoted from Hashman:So I went the next step with my Congo. Installed a brand new ramp set, removed and cleaned the mini playfield, put some cool white LEDs in to like up Gary the Gorilla and installed a brand new clear window. I think it's look gorgeous now

Yes, it is!
Quoted from swinks:a few more parts are now available for the Congo from Shapeways, in which some more detail about each part can be learnt from the linked parts

green spirit level for the Congo in which is a similar green (though the flash lightened it up a little) to the apron.

here is a hippo mount that is designed to suit the Schleich brand figures (Schleich brand Hippo - part number 14681 - heaps on ebay for around $10)
The bracket simply screws in using 2 of the screws in the timber side rail. Best to print in the blue and the foot cups are like water splash simulations and then put 4 dabs of silicon glue on the feet and press the hippo into the mount and leave it to dry and then mount into the game. Some people have located the hippo on the ramps but I feel this causes ramp breakages as the hippo is a little weighty and this location does not obstruct play while looking cool and with the shape of the mount the inserts can still be seen.

Very nice indeed.... I'd like to go for all pieces (except the plunger protector), but I wished the Hippo base could be found with another colors!
Had my best game ever today.... first time I scored "Skill Fire".... it took me a few seconds to realize what was going on.... LOL.... I didn't even know about this feature.... will have to take a look at the manual because I ain't got the slightest idea of how I achieved it!!!
PS: 138 diamonds, my best so far!
Quoted from Frax:Please PLEASE tell me that thing has full teal armor on it...
No, it does not
Just the legs and the coin door are green.... at the time I couldn't manage to get the rest (side-rails, lockbar...) done! Lots of problems with some said "professionals".....
Quoted from Frax:Understand completely. FWIW I thought the coat on the coin door looked a bit uneven..guess that explains that. It's really hard to find guys that can handle pin parts with the care and skill we'd all like at a good price. =\
EXACTLY !!!

Better pictures of the coin door and the legs!
Quoted from swinks:finished my congo shopout, including the coloured spirit level, hippo mount and a unique backboard insert to light up the volcano. The backboard decal had peeled badly and was lucky enough to buy BAA last one so put in a insert in and laid the decal over it. It is lit by one of my prototype manual colour select rgb boards. Game also has a playfield protector and plays fast.

Very nice.... I wonder how long the white flipper rubbers will stay white!
Quoted from swinks:that would be from another Trudeau game CFTBL
Nice! I also own a CftBL but never heard it from my Congo.... guess I'll have to take the glass out and finger-hit those sattelites targets!
Quoted from ryanwanger:I also need a new plastic for the area that divides the pops from the under the volcano shot, if anyone has one or knows where to get one.
Got a friend in Brazil who can make very nice reproductions.... are you talking about the plastic with both Gorillas in it?
Does anyone have the green tinted aftermarket mini playfield cover installed? How's it look like? Pics?
Quoted from billsfanmd:Anyone in MD/VA/PA looking to leave the club. I have a nice Williams Indiana Jones to trade.
Wow man.... I wouldn't do that. ...
I proudly own an extremely well restored Congo, but would trade for an IJ in a blink of an eye. I think both theme and gameplay are way better!
Here in Brazil there are plenty of Congos, lots for sale (as I'm noticing, unlike in the US). On the other hand, IJ pinball machines are extremely hard to find! Down here an IJ is worth at least 2 Congos.
Quoted from Chosen_S:Where can I get the newest rom?, what's the latest version?
ebay
Quoted from Chosen_S:I will be shopping mine out soon, anyone have an LED list they used for theirs that they are happy with? Pics of your game lit up?

Quoted from BobC:The newest rom does something like give you a map award when it should be a multiball that you earned...something like that
I'll try to remember to dig up the scoop on the roms

Quoted from jawjaw:Nice. I'm semi-official. Bought a Congo from fellow pinsider in Florida. It's on a truck somewhere so won't be official to me until it's in my house. Can't wait! Such a great game but everyone here knows that.
I'm going to need the plastic that is above the satellite targets. Does anyone know where to find that one piece or do I have to buy the complete set?
From reading up on Congo, it seems like there may be issues with the volcano chute. Can someone school me on what that is about? I'm not a big mod person when it comes to sticking toys on the playfield but I like to add things that protect or improve performance.
There's a friend of mine here in Brazil who makes nice repro plastics, Congo included....
Quoted from jawjaw:Cool, I will check it out when I get it. The plastic I need has the red part with TraviCom on it. Anyone have an extra?
http://www.pinball.center/media/image/image_43598_1.jpg
Quoted from OLDPINGUY:Would anyone have this famous plastic, or know of a US vendor...?
I see its at Pinball Center.
Thanks!image_43597_1_484x484.jpg
I also got a spare one... anyone interested on these plastics, just PM me!
Quoted from bigd1979:I have it on mine as its a factory protector. Only thing you need is the plastic under that ramp that is always broken and the shapeways protector under it.
I see... I didn't know it was an original factory part... Though I prefer to let my ramp without it because it gives a better/cleaner look, I think I'll have to keep it mounted!
As for the Gorilla plastic, I have a new replacement one.... I just have to find some time to replace it because I saw that it's not so simple.... got to dismount the ramp....
Quoted from Syco54645:I don't even own that protector. Perhaps I should get one...
How's your ramp on the spot where the ball gets down from the volcano and hit it on the side?
Quoted from jawjaw:Thanks for the info, Sethman. I'm a little nervous hacking things off boards but will check out what I have tonight.
Can someone tell me what the deal is with the volcano scoop? I see that Mantis sells one that is supposed to be better. I'm guessing the stock one may break and thus lead to damaging the volcano. Mine seems fine but does shoot out hard sometimes. Previous owner put the velcro stuff on it to help control that. Here is what mine looks like.congo_volcano.jpg
I also got a black velcro on mine... could it be it factory original also? Because it's way too similar of yours....
Quoted from OLDPINGUY:Hi Charlie,
Alex in South America had one...that was the only response, and with his kindness, is on its way!
Still tweaking the lights, that you asked about....
Art
Hope you get yours soon Art! Glad to help - if you need anything else, please, just let me know!
Quoted from FLpinball:Greetings Art! Did you find that part anywhere in the US? If so...where? Best, Charlie
Charlie, there's a friend of mine here in Brazil who takes orders for repro Congo plastics! The down-side is that he doesn't speak english nor have a web-site or a paypal account, so if anyone is up to get some, just PM me and I'll help you out!
Quoted from Msch:I'm totally not an owner but I think you all should probably kill yourselves
???
Quoted from swampfire:Here are some pics of my Congo before putting in new ramps. I love the colors and artwork on this playfield.
image.jpg image_1.jpg image_2.jpg image_3.jpg image_4.jpg image_5.jpg image_6.jpg
So, you ain't got the ramp protector..... it looks way much better without it..... I really wanted to take mine off but I'm so f*** afraid to ruin the ramp.....
Quoted from swampfire:I didn't know there was a protector. Which ramp has it? If you can post a pic that would be awesome.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/congo-club-owners-only/page/16#post-2663831
Quoted from swampfire:Mine doesn't have the protector (never did), but I think the Pinball Inc ramp is thick enough that it doesn't need it. It's really overbuilt.
Well, I kept the protector installed.... better safe than sorry, huh?
Quoted from Wamprat:Speaking of playing it, here is the result of a marathon game today.
3ball factory settings.

... and the glass off.
Quoted from Wamprat:Keep practicing, you might get there one day.
No need worrying, I'm already mastering the "ten fingers target pressing while simultaneously holding 3 balls" technique!
Quoted from Whysnow:how much cash are you offering along with ACDC prem...
hehe.... I know we all here are Congo lovers, but to say that it's worth more than an AC/DC (or a TotAN), is just too much!!!!
Quoted from Whysnow:it was sarcasm as I know the value of ACDC is more in secondary market...
That said you would have to pay me along with that crapy ACDC premium in order to get my congo. Congo is one of my favorites and ACDC is one of the worst games ever made.
JMHO
also, he is posting in the congo club thread. In this thread all games are inferior
Yeah, I know... but where else could he be more fortunate on finding Congo pins here?
Anyway, don't get me wrong but I think it's a shame this AC/DC is not near me....
Quoted from jawjaw:Swampfire - thanks for the map! I learned a few things.
Yeah, me too!
Quoted from swampfire:My goal is to make a binder of these for all the pins in my gameroom, so people can thumb through them to understand the games.
Looking forward to the JM one.

Quoted from swampfire:I grabbed one on eBay last night. My wife and teenage son may ridicule me, but it's worth it.
Nice! I like to collect toys/games/cards/cd's/dvd's/etc... of every game I own! One can only wonder the amount of things I have just for the sake of owning it!
Quoted from dudah:Made these diamond reject images. Print at 0.625 x 1.170 inches. Laminate if you're feeling it.

Thank you!!!!
Quoted from bigd1979:Added 3 d lane guides and they really finish off the game.
Cool.... Bought mine last week!
Quoted from Crispin:hitting both ramps at the same time with both balls leaving the left flipper during multiball!
Who am I to call you
Quoted from Natay-Tay:It is beautiful! I wish our plastic insert looked even close to that clear!
That's where mine came from, highly recommended!
Quoted from mollyspub:What pinblades are you using? Can you post some pics?
Bought them here in Brazil, but I'm gonna exchange for the pinballpt version!

Quoted from bballfan:I recently joined the club and am not satisfied on how the skill shot shoots.
The ball will not hit the top target no matter what.
Is there any adjustment to fix this or is it normal?
Thanks
Not normal.... maybe you should check the shooter springs? Just a thought!
Quoted from freddy:On skill shot if you get it in kick back lane it is the super skill shot' GL
Super hard! I never accomplished
Ok, done it twice today! Great freddy! AMY likes pinball!!!
And got my second best game also.. 185 diamonds collected!
bballfan, remember, its a SKILL shot.... not always a strong/hard shot gets it done...
.
Quoted from freddy:light gentle touch with the shooter. CONGO likes a slow hand and and easy touch LOL.
Quoted from Wickerman2:http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/03-9419-500XX
You cut the holes...custom lighting!
That will be great for those who have custom translites!
Quoted from lpeters82:Are you dissing Hardbody?
PS: I love my Hardbody. I think it should top the "bang for your buck" list. Is there a Hardbody owners club?
No, nobody likes that piece of Amy's shit! Sorry, I couldn't resist! Welcome to the club!
Quoted from GRB1959:I concur that Amy should be facing straight when not in use. See the photo below for how Amy appears in my Congo when the game is off.
Gord
Just fyi, this is not Amy! I strongly suggest you watch the movie again!
Quoted from jawjaw:Mine, too. Very loud. I guess it is normal.
Well... I guess it's not because I hear absolutely nothing when my grey post engages! Quiet as heaven!
Quoted from Gov:Got the plastic protectors from indypinhead installed. They fit perfectly! Highly recommended.
Will u keep those black flipper bats?
So... how do you guys keep the "gray gorilla clear plastic" leveled with the playfield in a way that the ball EVER change it's direction when passing through its edges? Is there any magic formula or (just like me), is just trying and trying again (and apparently never get it right)?
Quoted from jackbot:20 Year Congo design team mini reunion. John Trudeau, Ernie Hudson and myself at the Stern 30 year celebration.
Quoted from Djshakes:New member. Paid my dues. I bought the game without ever playing it. I'm confident it won't leave even though I only have room for two. Yeah, I'm that confident. The shadow is the other anchor.
Nice! Can you take a better pic of your speaker panel?
Quoted from gliebig:Anyone install the color dmd yet?
I'm eager to watch a game-play video!
Quoted from hassanchop:If you are gonna scan my art to make those, at least you could make use of all the other stuff, like gorillas and villagers because they look cool also
http://www.pinballpt.com/prestashop/sideboard-decals/9-congo-custom-inside-art.html
I bought pinballpt's sideboard decals for many of my games (CftBL, JM, Congo...). They all look awesome, easy installation and the quality of the material is superb!
hassanchop , I'll PM you with my paypal account so you can pay me for the advertising, ok?
Quoted from TimeBandit:Volcano shot from upper flipper caught on film - KME.

Damn... I know I'll have a hard f***ing time trying to replicate this move...
Quoted from Pinballer22:Installed these last night.
Looking at it again... is the "sky" mirrored?
Quoted from Chosen_S:"KEITH ELWIN" Ladies and Gentlemen!
Amazing
IMPOSSIBLE!!! Guess my upper left flipper ain't got enough strenght...
Quoted from jawjaw:Question about the upper loop that's been bugging me. Should the ball loop around every time the lock is not lit? Mine seems to divert to the volcano the first pass but loop around every shot after.
Actually, the ball should fall into the AMY lanes...
Those bumper LEDs are cool but they're super f***ing bright it outshines the rest of the PF... Can you actually normally play a game?
Quoted from Mitch:Looking good but you need to replace that round satellite target with the proper rectangle one.
Also blue diamonds in the inserts? Why? Diamonds are white and look way better with cool white leds.
I dig the blue diamonds...
Quoted from Chuckwebster:I can now officially be in the club- the restoration of my Congo is complete! Here are some pictures. Eventually i'd like to have the ramps re-plated but ill deal with that another day.
I just got to review the lighting on my Congo to try to replicate the light-show you guys are doing here....
Quoted from Chosen_S:those are awesome! but why do you cover your pins? Not that theres anything wrong with that, Im just curious
OH, AND your translite! where can I get one?
My game-room is located in a relatively open area near the pool. The pins are very well protected from sun and rain, but I wanted to provide a little more protection, mainly from dust...
The translite I acquired a few years ago, but I just can't remember where...
Quoted from BobC:Where are those pinball covers obtained?
They look like beach towels, but I've never been able to find a Congo beach towel
Yeah, basically custom beach towels. Found the images on the web and had them made with a local vendor!
Quoted from ufiti:Just joined the club!!
I have a couple questions, if anyone can help:
1) For whatever reason mine doesn't play any sound when the MATCH is happening at the end of a game. All other sounds and music during the rest of the game seem to be totally normal. I can't find any setting about this or anything online. Any ideas?
2) And I THINK this is unrelated, but it seems mine is still on the original ROMs not the 2.1 upgrade. Do I just need the "CPU Eprom G11 Version 2.1", or would I also need the "Sound ROM Set"? http://www.thatpinballplace.com/eproms/wpc.html
Thanks for any advice!
I've got the most updated ROM versions and also got no sounds when on "match"... :
Quoted from BobC:But there's a bug in 2.1 where you lose a multiball mode in error, I think as a map award
I stuck with 2.0 because of that
Well, now I gotta check my roms, but at IPDB it says that the latest roms are: Revision 1.1 Sound ROM [S2] and Revision 2.1 Game ROM.
Quoted from ufiti:PinballSideMirrors.com - Regular = $75, Black/Blue = $195
PinballDecals.com - Regular = $99, Black/Gold = $199
Well, at least or me, definitely not worthy the extra $$...
Quoted from mollyspub:Where can I get this from the US?
I have this one installed at my machine and it's gorgeous - as far as I know, the guy who used to make them (and the NSFW I have for sale), just don't anymore.
Quoted from AlexSMendes:Got an alternate NSFW Congo translite I'd sell or trade for a T2 translite!
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Just finished powdercoating my wireforms

Quoted from AlexSMendes:Does anyone have an extra (or not), Congo flyer and would be willing to part way with? I want one for myself!
Let me try another approach...
Would someone be kind enough to send me a hi-res scan of the flyer?
Quoted from GRB1959:Will this work?
Gord
Almost, because when you upload them to pinside, it reworks/resizes the picture. These pics ended up with about 1MB each. Yours original is bigger than that?
Edit: never mind - just replied your PM! Thanks Gord!
Are you following me pinrob? You never posted on this thread!!! Guess you're a bit jeaulos, huh? Well, mine was way cheaper!

Hey, can anyone help me with a front cabinet decal for my Congo?
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/wtb-congo-front-cabinet-decal#post-4240522
Quoted from GRB1959:The signature looks like 'John Trudeau' who is Congo's designer.
Gord
Oh boy, it looks like it really is his autograph... Well, guess I should have tried to sell it about a year ago... Now it's worthless. I for sure won't install it....
I've said it many times... Congo has one of the (if not THE) best PF layouts ever. The only downside is the theme...
Can anyone in the club hook me up with a front decal for my cabinet?
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/wtb-congo-front-cabinet-decal#post-4240522
