Quoted from BalkeBoy:I would also love to hear a pinsound Congo mix.
Think it’ll be hard to top the original tracks
Quoted from mollyspub:Think it’ll be hard to top the original tracks
I totally agree I actually really love the original music in congo. Was just more interested to see what someone did with it and I dont have a pin sound in my game
I was wondering if anyone has had this issue-
Volcano kick out fires every few seconds constantly. At the same time trough kick out gently fires constantly, not hard enough to kick out a ball, but then it randomly decides to start kicking out balls causing a perpetual multi ball. I’ve replaced the trough opto boards and the volcano optos test fine..
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what was the cause?

Yes, I have had this issue just recently. I too replaced the opto board and checked a number of things out and was stumped. Finely decided that the issues were not related to any switches, optos etc., but determined that the issue was on the CPU board. I don't normally try repairs to this board and sent it in for repairs. Once back everything worked fine as there was issues with the CPU board.
If you want send me a PM and I can send you what they did to repair the board.
Quoted from matt_adams:Can I ask those of you that have Pin2dmd's fitted to your Congo who you brought the colour files from and is this a good game to fit it to? I have a couple of displays and am trying to decide which games to fit them to. Thanks.
The color file is not good for Congo. I have my pin2dmd set to mono green for Congo. I turned off the color file.
Put the display in one of your other games.
Quoted from matt_adams:Ah, ok, thank you. I have mine set to green also but will take your advice.
I used a Congo .pal file giving 4 colours which I think looked quite nice.
You can find the collection of .pal files here for example : https://vpuniverse.com/files/file/4371-color-palettes-collection/
They don't give a complete colorization, but adjust the palette to better suit a game.

Thank you, defiantly looks better but I think I will switch it to a game with full colourization.
Hey all.
I'm temporarily in the club while I borrow a lovely Congo before it goes off to be minted up..
I have one question, does Congo allow flipper staging?
No matter what i try I can't get them to operate separately.
If Iightly presssing the button really lightly the lower left flipper flutters.
Any ideas?

No flipper staging on Congo.
Hi, do you have any protector between the miniplayfield plastic and the playfield?
Sometimes the ball doesn’t go straight and goes through the yellow line seen in the picture.
Apparently the mini playfield plastic seems well alligned with the playfield.
I cleaned and waxed the Congo I'm borrowing and now the autoplunger sometimes fires a ball straight up into the air over the plastics to the pops!
Also sometimes it'll fire to the skill shot targets where the ball will bounce back to the right outlane. Ball save gone and no chance of saving it.
Later on somehow multiball started from the vuk below the Amy rollovers, it fired the ball towards amy but the ball got stuck between her hand and the edge of the upper ramp
Game is playing crazy fast and doing really odd things.
I've got it set to 7.5 thinking it would slow the upper playfield and ramps but no luck.

I use a playfield protector on mine. It was mostly to help with two playfield issues where a previous owner used under playfield screws that were too long. But it also provides a nice smooth surface over the window. Most people can't even see the playfield protector unless I point it out to them.

The screws that attach the window over the mini PF have rubber gaskets that allow you to adjust the depth. I replaced the rubber at some point for more pliability.
seems my right ramp diverter isn't working during gameplay, is it 3 shots to the the ramp to get it to work?
Quoted from ccbiggsoo7:seems my right ramp diverter isn't working during gameplay, is it 3 shots to the the ramp to get it to work?
When map is complete via shooting the ramp it should divert to the left so you can shoot the map saucer
I have a 95% complete set of new plastics if anyone needs. I have no use for, and would be happy to make a deal for someone.
Trying to dial in my Congo and the only place I'm stuck is on the map hole. I sends the ball to the top post of the right slingshot and I would like it to cleanly move down close to the face of the right slingshot.
The coil, sleeve, stop ect are all clean and in good condition. The ball eject, like the mystery hole, is a pretty soft hit from the coil. During coil test the coil fires much harder (albeit too hard) and sends the ball on exactly the path I want.
Is my playfield too steep?

Always nice to see new art for older games! Translite looks cool but the hippos like that seem a bit much imo.
Quoted from Pinstein:I put a set on my buddies game. Heres some bad pics. The volcano and hippos on the artblades lined up pretty well.

I think they look great

I dig it! Whats price on translite?
Quoted from ripit:has anyone got a shaker tied to the volcano on your Congo
Ya, I did this years ago. still works great:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/adding-in-a-shaker-to-congo
Unfortunately I do not think the PIG2 is made anymore.
I saw that an tried to follow up on it. I came up with the same info (discontinued). I am surprised there is nothing out there. Maybe there is not enough units to make a sound track. Thanks for your help. I haven't tried the aux voice over are there any thoughts on it?

This page says their shaker is compatible with Congo : http://www.pinshakers.com/
I am heading that way. This was the last chance before i had to buy a 2nd shaker. It hurts because the pin sound board and shaker are already mounted and looking good. I need my Volcano to rock.

From what I know a Pinsound board and their shaker combination should be able to shake whenever you want it to and how much. It's an adjustment/addition to the soundtrack you are using. Not sure how to, but I believe there is instructions on their website.

Correct. I have put pinsound in 7 machines, and 4 with shakers (though not with Congo yet). You'll need to program the shaker to do what you want for each sound that needs an added "shake" associated with it. The volcano eruption is a natural for this, or the hippos, or the satellite, or rapids in the video modes, or...
If you set this up with yours, be sure to upload it to the Pinsound website so others can enjoy your work!
my computer skills are in the sad category. My electronics skills are much better. This was the road block I ran into a year ago. Was kind of hoping someone had already done this.LOL
Hi all new Congo owner here. Couple questions.
1. Should the volcano loop shot be available whenever the lock is not lit? Sometimes when I make the shot I get the “5 million!” Call out but instead of looping it catches the ball and spits it back out the volcano. Does this shot need to be qualified or should the diverted only be up when lock is lit?
2. Sometime my volcano attempts to eject balls even when none are locked or before a multi ball should be active. Is this a common issue? Known solutions?
Since the two issues I’m having are with the volcano I wonder if they’re related? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I had an issue with the volcano kicking balls out whenever it wanted to. Did alot of diagnostics and came to the conclusion that there was an issue with the CPU board. Sent it in for repairs. It came back, worked for awhile and the issue came back, but worse. All seem to check out okay with the volcano in switch test. It puzzled me. I finally rechecked the optos on the volcano. They worked, but were very dim lite compaired to the trough optos. I then replaced all the transmitter and reciever optos for the volcano and have never had another issue.
Might check your volcano optos as they could be your problem.
Good luck,
Mike

Thank you. I’ll start by cleaning them and move forward from there. Any insight about the diverter in the volcano orbit lane? Should it only be up when the lock is lit?

My playfield is set around 7.5 degrees and the map sling ejects the ball right around the middle of the right flipper if that helps at all.

Update: cleaned the optos. Found a piece of a sticker near one. Could have been tricking it into thinking there was a ball in the chamber. Removed it and haven’t had an issue so far. Fingers crossed. Thank you for the help
Thinking of joining the club. Anyone sell a turnkey volcano mod to help bring it to life? Would love something like #Mikespinball did.

I installed something like 4 fire bulbs in mine and it looks amazing.

Where did you get them. Did you have to add sockets?
Quoted from mollyspub:I used four led strips with a splitter from comets matrix system.

4 red? Any amber?
Quoted from billsfanmd:Where did you get them. Did you have to add sockets?
Yes, I added some 555 matrix sockets to the hex standoffs already under the volcano.
