man that thing looks new. I also been looking for nice congo for awhile now but this title seems to be harder to find than what is already a scarce selection up here in northwest. If you ever one to sell it, let me know. I'll gladly take it off your hands.

such a fun game. luckily I got in before prices went thru the roof.

Hello Congo owners, I did a small mod to my Congo and thought I would share what I did. The out lanes on a Congo machine are just stainless steel. The only thing I could find at this time are some stickers that can be added to the lane tops. I did order a set, but just did not like what they would look like. So I started looking at different pinball machines that had out lanes that had a jungle theme to them and see if they would fit a Congo. After many views I found that a Williams Indiana Jones came the closest. The left lane came nearly perfect to fit, but a little off (too long), but did fit in. The right side was more difficult to add, but did work with a number a plastics (cut to fit). I think it turned out great!

I'd buy a custom cut set...how did you cut them?

I would prefer a color option or those 3d ones that someone made a while back. Just my preference which is why I'm interested in this idea to modify the Indy plastics

Quoted from per3per3:

I would prefer a color option or those 3d ones that someone made a while back. Just my preference which is why I'm interested in this idea to modify the Indy plastics

Here is what I did. The left side was the easiest as I just used the left IJ with no modifications to the plastics. Part numbers are 31-1773-5 and 31-1773-4. They are a bit longer, but still worked. For the right side a bit more difficult I used part numbers 31-1773-4 (again bottom by the flipper) found this gave more coverage than the left IJ plastic 31-1773-15 as it was longer on the tip and 31-1773-11 for the top. The far end of the right side plastics I used two 31-1773-5. Some of plastics had holes in not correct places, but mounted the upper to the lower plastics to themselves only in some locations (will also use shorten screws where needed) and the lower plastic with screws in the correct locations that goes through the bottom stainless steel plate to tie them to the playfield. A bit difficult to install, but works. Cutting, I used a dremel drill with a small cut off wheel. I recommend small cuts/test fit as if you cut off too much you will have to purchase another plastic. The black post height I think are 1/2" or shorter. I bought all the plastics from PSPA https://www.pinballspareparts.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=indiana+jones+plastic as they had all what I needed in stock and could buy from one supplier. I like the 3D look this gives to these lanes as it follows suit to the kicker plastics. Good luck if you take this on and you can always contact me if you have any questions.

the first 3 are good options, though 3rd one isn't if you have a plastic protector kit

https://www.shapeways.com/marketplace?type=product&q=swinkscongo

hippo mount - using existing holes

volcano mount strengthener - uses existing holes and the as the bottom lugs are a weakpoint

plastic support - plastic is the most common broken

unfortunately not as have had people on sell the mods and files in the past from my shared files so I just don't share most, apart from a few fix files

Kickback issue. I would say 75% of the time the kickback try’s twice to hit the ball but misses. It’s like the switch is activated to soon. Any adjustments?

#2167 4 years ago

Adjust the switch so that it "clicks" a bit later?

#2168 4 years ago
Quoted from Nihonmasa:

I was thinking that and did adjust it but it seems to still activate the coil to soon.

#2169 4 years ago

By twicking it you should be able to find a position where it'll activate at the right time.
If not, then I would replace it.

I'm starting to experience some inconsistency with the volcano vuk. It works great about 75% of the time, but the other 25% it sometimes takes a few attempts to spit the ball out of the volcano or the ball just barely clears the top and rests between the metal sleeve and the volcano plastic. Every once and a while, it won't successfully launch of ball out but then follows up by launching two balls: in those instances, the code seems to realize that this occurred and I can drain one of the two balls in play and continue playing the other one...almost like it's properly correcting / accounting for this via the code.

Any thoughts on what / how to adjust?

Thanks!

Check the top of the VUK. Mine was loose and had to be welded back in place. While you're in there might as well clean the VUK and replace the coil sleeve

Habing a weird behaviour with my congo.
Sometimes, when battling Gray, the ball on the upper playfield is released and I have to keep it alive while still having the lower mini playfield activated.
This seems to appear randomly.

Any idea?

I had a slightly different problem that I traced to the actuator on the switch just before the pop-up post. It was totally broken off, I built a new one with a paper clip.

#2177 4 years ago

the volcano chute is fastened by 3 bent lugs from the weldment and with the vibration can work loose and work harden and break off.

I developed a base to strengthen up the mounting which can be used even if 1 of the 3 lugs has snapped off.

Never knew someone made these. I'm interested to know myself !

#2185 4 years ago

The pinball center seems to have a lot of Congo parts. I wonder if it was because so many machines were shipped over seas? My game was a beat-up re-import now nicely fixed up. But I could use a new volcano. Pinball Center I believe does not ship to the states. Maybe some of us could pool our needs and have a European comrade send us a bulk order?

#2186 4 years ago

I’d be in for 1 but it says not available correct?

#2187 4 years ago

Pinball center had that volcano available in July. It could pop up again. They probably made it. So beware. The stuff they produce is underwhelming to say the least. Some of it is pure garbage.

Shipping should be no problem. Just use a German mail forwarding service.

I use the same type of service when I order for USA. Works great.

My dmd went out in my Congo. No lines just nothing. The game does play blind. Is there a dmd controller board? I’ve switched out the cables and dmd from other games with no luck.

Congo is a WPC95 game. Sound and display driver are all in one board. Hard to find and fix.
