I would be curious to hear how the new buyer likes the quality of Retro cab decals. I'm on the fence ordering a couple decal sets from Retro.

A flame bulb is an LED that cycles multiple different colors to give the effect of a flickering flame

Neat. Thanks!
Which style and how many would be used for the volcano? It's been so long since I needed to lift my playfield, I can't remember what's under there.
Man, catching up on this thread makes me miss my Congo. It's in storage at my brother's house awaiting a full shop job. Think I may switch out a game from my house to get this back...
Just got my Congo and ordered a set of plastic protectors . Also saw the shapeways guard for under the middle plastic. Do I need this as well or is the protector enough?

The plastic protector set for Congo has a protector piece for the middle plastic. You do not need to purchase the Shapeways guard as well. I think that these were offered when there were no plastic protector sets available.

I have this one installed at my machine and it's gorgeous - as far as I know, the guy who used to make them (and the NSFW I have for sale), just don't anymore.
Quoted from AlexSMendes:Got an alternate NSFW Congo translite I'd sell or trade for a T2 translite!
Shopping my congo just got all new titan green rubbers. New leds, added a red strip under the volcano ramp. Pinbalbulbs volcano mod, adding LCD color dmd, hippo and new pinstadium lights. Any mods or cool must haves? Just got it. Need lane plastics decals dont quite look right
Mirror blades look nice imo. I switched out the black star posts with green ones. You can also put in lighted star posts. I did that to my Shadow but it was a pain to do. I like the outlane decals. Looks better than bare metal. Only other option is the 3D plastic versions that someone was selling a while back.
Uv strip over the volcano, led red strip under ramp, volcano fade mod, all green rubbers from titan inclufong posts, black pinball under play field, few toy skulls on play field and palm trees, hippo toy mod, dual spotlight added, cushion target decals, mirror blades and color dmd.

Your machine's turning out beautiful but there's just one thing that I'm not confortable with yet: the red/bright orange leds of the gray gorilla mini-pf...
Was just about to beat my gc score. Had extra ball lit on left loop. Ball comes out of the pops to the left flipper. I decide to just let it bounce off and over to the right so I can grab the extra ball and instead of bouncing it just dead drops and drains. Game over. Aaagggghhhh.
Congo is coming to my home shortly! I bought it as a working project, needs a deep shop job. Thinking about making a fluorescent colored plastic for the left ramp cover. Anyone else interested? I'm not home much and it's a bit of a pain to get to the laser cutter I use so gauging interest.

Precisely. Just not from Germany.
Hello!
Finally i bought a Congo but it has some insert wear. Most of them i can repaint, but i have problem with the satelite (i attached a photo from what i call satelite ).
Can sombody sent me a high resolution scan from it? Maybe i can use a high resolution photo too but from the right angle (perpendicular because of the distortion). I want to make an insert decal from it in photoshop.
Thank you guys. This would be a great help for me.
(and sorry for the bad english)

It came with my game so I'm not sure. Thought they all came like that so I never gave it a second thought .

Quoted from dudah:Anyone carry this center arm in the USA (01-14205.2)? Mine is mushrooming on the edges. Any hacks to prolong its life?
clean the mushrooming part off with file or grinder if left to mushroom it will only get worse.
I just brought home a Congo in pretty good shape. It is my third and newest game. I'll be going over it and correcting a few issues in the next several weeks.
many of the cheap plastic sockets in the back box are broken. where does one get replacements?

what were they thinking when they swapped to that ridiculous plastic dish tray ....
great game, enjoy it...
I see one reason why they designed it that way. It's a pain working on some older games with the swing out light panel. You can only access the backbox from one side. With games like Congo, you can just uplug one plug and remove the entire light box. Everything is out of your way. Problem is that the light sockets hang out the back and break real easy. Games were only designed to be in use for a few years so the engineers didn't give it much thought. I think they also were suffering for Sternitis at the time and were cutting costs as sales were slowing. More than a few of my backbox sockets are half broken. I just try to be real careful with it and it still works okay.
Congrats on finding a Congo. I get the impression a lot of people are looking for one and they are pretty hard to come by. Owners hold onto them tight because it's a super fun game. One other part of the game which often needs attention is the volcano scoop stack. Mine broke one of the tabs that held it down to the playfield. It was spitting out balls all over the place. Mantis sells a better quality one that works perfectly. If you ever shop your game, check yours for any cracks or bad welds.

Old post about my back box sockets.
I just got these from Marco and replaced all the GI sockets. (lots of work, but those yellow sockets SUCK !)

I used a nylon standoff to get the profile correct. (I epoxied the standoffs to the dish tray)

Can someone take a high res. pic of the "N" on the inlane please and email it to me?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks JawJaw I am very appreciative of such tips and points of attention. I'll be doing a full shop job. I was told by the former owner about the broken bracket under the mini play field. he jury rigged it but it may be a problem later.
I am only 1/3 of the way through old posts and will have more questions as I dig later.

That looks like a good fix. I hate wedge bulbs and am considering to do something like this but with bayonet sockets. has any one else done this, I thought I saw a previous post....
I always prefer to keep my games stock but this is a sucky problem that has better options

I cleaned mine the best I could, put leds in them, and hot glued all of the problem ones into place, also hot glued the few cracks in the plastic tub, has held well for a few years (on cv, and Congo)
Sadly I have a huge problem with my Congo's backbox lighting too.
The whole wiring harness is non existent. No sockets, no wiring.... nothing. I am trying to decide if I should attempt to rebuild it with socketed LED's or make a custom layout with strips.
Any chance anyone has a wiring diagram/map for the harness and connectors for the backbox lamps and flashers? Any help would be awesome.
