I bought some new classic Stern flipper assemblies from Pinball Life to use on my homebrew machine. I’m trying to figure out which lug is the “power lug” to connect my 48 volts too. Everything I have read says that the power lug is the one with the fat wire and the side with the silver band on the diodes.

The coils on my flipper assemblies have the diodes facing the opposite direction? Which lug is the power lug? I don’t want to fry my brand new coils.

    Thanks

So is the center lug on my coil the power lug?

The picture with the lugs labeled has the lug with the thick and thin wires together as the power lug?

Ok, the drawing with the labels I found on the web, I think it’s from Vid’s guide. Is that wrong as well?

I will have to contact Pinball Life and ask them what’s going on.

    Thank you for your replies.

Thank you for the clarification and explanation Grumpy. I didn’t realize the coils I had were series wound.
