    Reading this article and hearing the best candlepin bowler in the world gripe about poor sponsorship and prize pools. Sounded a bit like the dust-up with the IFPA and the new $1 system for next year. Good read, especially if you are from New England like me and remember candlepin TV shows and its glory days

    Same thing happens in registered skeet shooting events. I have spent a small fortune over the years on entry fees, and usually I at least make my money back, but you never really "get ahead"-- the champion of the world shoot walked away with a mere $8,000 in prize money. Of course, I have long advocated that shoots be for honors only, with no prize money involved and the entrants only having to pay the entry fee for the cost of targets.

    It's a hobby, not a job...
