    Quoted from shakenbake:

Is it cheating if you glue the ball to the stand?

I'm thinking it's close enough to the edge I could hold it in place with my thumb while nudging

    #52 6 years ago

Is there a magnet under the balls to keep them in place if I mount one on the wall when its not in use?

    #53 6 years ago

This looks awesome and the art is cool too. I hope the price matches the features.

    #54 6 years ago

For the right price, I’d be in, (even with shipping to Canada). I like the look of the art, well done.

    Quoted from FatPanda:

A great ode to the golden age of bagatelle! Would be fun to have as a wall hanger with the ability to take down and play! Awesome work!

That is actually a great point. Market is out there for a custom wall mount that would allow us to put it back up on the wall securely, and take it down when we want to play.
    You get those two markets:
    1) people that like cool pinball shit on their walls
    2) people with zero new room for actual pinball machines

    #56 6 years ago
    Quoted from luvthatapex2:

Bonus! There is actually a tilt. A 6th ball sits in the rules card area. Shake it too much and the ball falls off its stand and the game is over. Well, if you are playing by the rules

Just like the original pedestal tilts in 30's games.

This is a great question. The short answer is there are no magnets. The balls will be best stored underneath/behind the game when being hung on a wall. If/when this game goes into production I would like to be able to offer the possibility of a wall mount kit that would include everything you need to keep all the accessories with the game.

Yes! Exactly. I ran out of room in my basement/game room long ago...

Do I dare ask how much??

Still working through the numbers and understanding interest level. Honestly I wasn't sure how excited this community would be over something like this, but so far I'm happily surprised with how well it is being received. Hopefully I can move this into production in the near future.

    #59 6 years ago

This is a very cool project. I hope to get a chance to check it out in person. Scoregasm Master was a huge surprise for me and I loved playing it. I'm getting similar vibes here, and that's a very good thing.

    #60 6 years ago

If you hang it on the wall, I'm pretty sure the game is going to tilt... unless the software can detect that.

Why not just put the glass close and make it a wall hanging game? Seems like a cool idea to me. Just replace the holes with half moon shaped metal brackets right?

    #62 6 years ago

I think the whole purpose of the game was to make a portable game to take with you to parties/cook outs, put it on the table when you want to play, have the ability to nudge and skillfully score your cards, etc. Playing it on the wall is not the intent here.

Gotcha. So like 50-100 people. I like it as a wall game to mix up the game room and to also be like a piece of art. To each their own as always. Neat idea for sure.

    #64 6 years ago

Playing it on the wall would technically make it a pachinko rather than a bingo. That would open up a whole can of worms, as you probably couldn't call it Deadman's Hand anymore. It would need to be something in Japanese and need a whole new art package.

Probably more trouble than it's worth.

A better idea would be to wire it with switches, mount a backbox display, and make it a video poker game that could be sold to casinos. I'm sure Frank could help with that.

    <-- cowboy emoji... perfect

Looks great! Looking forward to playing it at Expo, Scott!

Fair enough. I just cant see hauling this thing around with me to other peoples houses unless they played it at my house and were like BRING THAT GAME WITH YOU! I also dont have any table space in my gameroom to put this down on, it would have to be on the bar or on the floor. Just my $0.02!

Are the flippers on the LE?

I was just clowning around... I think it's more likely that for most people this would be displayed as an art piece or stored under a full size game in the gameroom and taken down/out during parties.

Because I'm an idiot... I actually do think it would be cool project to try to enhance a game like this with switches/software and a display for single player so that you're either playing against computer opponents or some type of mode oriented play where the hands you're dealt affect a storyline that unfolds on the display... but I would buy it for the art.

    Quoted from NeilMcRae:

Are the flippers on the LE?

You have to travel back in time to the 1940s to get a NIB flipper conversion kit.

Time to fire up my typewriter and crank out that sci-fi piece about the person who used time travel to collect pinball swag instead of kill Hitler...

Also: I don't think it should be a wall game! I just like the idea of storing it on the wall.
Bingos are all about skill plunges and nudging, there is no vertical substitute to the art of bingo playing!

    #69 6 years ago

I sold my Palm Springs Bingo not too long ago. This would be a great way to get the Bingo "fix" I miss without taking up a space where another pin now sits.

I like both ideas, maybe he could make models for both concepts, if enough interest is there. I was thinking it might be a good game to take tailgating or pull out after pinball playing is over and everyone is sitting around having a few drinks.

    #71 6 years ago

Cool...but I'd still like another western themed pinball machine.

    #72 6 years ago
    Quoted from mjwilliams:

Bingos use chrome plated brass (or other non-magnetic) balls. This prevents manipulation by a strong magnet. There is money involved with games that don't have the no gambling/for amusement only signs/cards.

    #73 6 years ago

Wow, looks cool! Hope it becomes a smash hit and you sell a ton of these!

    #74 6 years ago

Very cool, but yeah, like some others have said, I was really hoping for a western/gambling themed pin.

Hi everyone! Just a reminder to stop by the Cointaker booth from 6pm to 7pm tonight to try your luck on the Dead Man's Hand. Highest hand of the weekend wins a gift certificate from Cointaker. Current best hand is an ace high straight!

    #76 6 years ago

Super fun game. I'm not just saying that because I had the best hand either

    #77 6 years ago

Fun game. Great for parties and pinball functions. I played a few games with some pin buddies and my son. My son had the best hand of all of us which was a pair of Kings and a 10. Most of us hit the darn Dead Man's Hand hole ending our game early.

I'd buy one at $250.00 which probably wouldn't cover the cost of materials and labor to build.

That’s the problem I see. I’d like one but the cost to build might be to much to justify. Maybe it could get released as a diy kit. Flat ship everything and get the customer to assemble. It would save a ton on labor costs.

    Build quality is fantastic!

I missed out as I was only at the Show Saturday morning. But - if you start making these put me on your interested list ! Very good chance I'd buy one.

    #81 6 years ago

Anyone get video of it in action? While it’s not hard to imagine how it plays, still would love to see it.

    #82 6 years ago

Thinking great gift idea for someone...I'm in, go ahead and start making them please.

There's your Gate 0, 1 and 2. They all have passed. Commence with PPAP samples.... Isn't TS-16949 wonderful?

    #84 6 years ago

do we have an estimated MRSP?

    #85 6 years ago

Thank you to all that stopped by and played Dead Man's Hand! It was fantastic to see everyone play the game and watch how excited they got playing. For a simple, straight-forward game it really is fun when playing with a couple of people.

Congratulations to Brad Baker who had the highest hand of the weekend with a full house, Queen's over Ten's!

The game was very well received and Riot Pinball is working hard to get this to production sooner than later. We are currently working on understanding pricing but should have that information available soon.

If anyone is interested in more information or would like to be put on an "interested" list please feel free to email me at [email protected] Also, I have a few poker chips left over; include your address in the email and I'll mail them until they run out.

Thanks again to those that stopped by to hang out and play my game!

yancy, you weren't alone. I looked for it all day thursday and friday and didn't find it until saturday. unfortunately, scott (or for that matter, anyone) was around to explain the rules.

we didn't realize that the "dead man's" hole ended your game (which was a good thing since I got it on my 1st plunge
I thought it was a skill shot, but since there was already a joker on the playfield, we just ignored it and counted it as a "null" card that couldn't help your hand

the artwork was very nice and it played pretty well (other than the plunger seeming to have just a bit too much side-to-side play in it)

One of the great things about Dead Man's Hand is that you can make your own rules! For the highest hand competition I was running, we played the Dead Man's Hand hole exactly as you described, as a "null" card that forced players to then make the best 5 card poker hand out of four cards. You could very easily mix it up though and play it similar to a tilt in that once you get the Dead Man's Hand hole you gotta take your hand at the time.

    #91 6 years ago

oh, I did make up my own rules

in fact, I deemed that my hand of the "dead man's" hole, 2 aces, a 9 of spades and a jack of hearts was the best hand that you could get and that everyone owed me money!

    edit:
oh, and by getting the first ball in the "dead man's" hole, that they had to pay me double

    #92 6 years ago

    following, very cool Scott!

I'd be interested in a DIY kit. Would be a fun build and it looks simple enough that I don't think I would screw it up.

Thanks to everyone who requested a poker chip. I've sent emails to those that contacted me before I ran out of them.

If anyone is still interested in being put on the interested/information list please feel free to continue to email me.

Looks great. Do you have any game play videos?

    #99 6 years ago

Not yet. We'll work on getting something together.

For those unfamiliar with how a bingo playfield plays, here are some videos of original bingo games and how the ball plays:

    Hey Scott
Really looks sweet! Congrats on getting it into production.
