Pull the balls.....inspect the trough switches.....then put the balls back in it. See what happens

With the coin door open, QUICKLY flip the power switch ON-OFF-ON and see what happens.

This will work because your batteries are dead or corroded on your CPU.
You will need to get fresh batteries in place or you will have to leave the coin door open and flip the switch on and off and back on again, just to get the cpu to boot up.

ok fast power cycles got it up but the batteries were toast.

should it be playable doing this method? cause mine is not.

is there a write up or video showing how to put a lithium battery in place?

Thanks

Look for corrosion around the battery holder.

There is a good chance you will have some clean up work before you install a remote battery pack.

That only got it to attract mode, now you have to get a credit (insert coin) and then start (button on front of cab).
Comet does not require a ball to go into game mode, since there was only one ball to begin with (a common problem with multiball games is no start without all balls). BUT a slam tilt stuck closed will stop the game from starting after credit up.

Once you fix the battery problem, you can set other options, including free play.

You can NOT set it to free play currently, since there are no batteries, and without batteries, no settings are saved....

You are close now. As stated above make sure your ball trough switches are working and wired up properly.
No shorts or loose wires.
When you have all balls on the trough switches the game should credit up and start if no tilt switches are stuck closed and all your CPU chips are good and making contact in their sockets.

didnt get a chance to make it out there lastnight.

Thanks for the help.

ok got it running and playable lastnight.

got half the lighting to work but cannot seem to get all lights to work.
the lights that do not work are the inserts that tell you what to do.

what do i check next for this?
is there suppose to be all fuses in the power supply board? or were some left out?

yes the playfield is toast......

I believe F4 is left empty on Comet.

There should be a decal above the board showing the required fuses.

A few things it could be. Bad transistor, bad connectors, bad wire..... Need more details on the ones that are off.

Your video does not play.

try the video again.

its the lights that tell you where to shoot on the playfield.

Still dead.

#15 9 years ago

Video link says video is corrupted.

D/L it anyway to try it outside of browser and even off my drive it does not play.

#16 9 years ago

Can you just list exactly which lights are out?

I can then check if they are all driven by the same transistor.

Thanks for all your help already. Sorry the video didn't work for you.
I appreciate your help this is my actual first time doing this work.

As for the lights. I think I got it . There was no fuse.......
That being said I'm thinking it was pulled when the power supply burnt up..
So I needo get some run time on it to see if all my fixes hold up.
