Potential Comet club member based on the current members thoughts on the condition of this game. Background on it, it was my buddies mother's and has not been played in 15 or so years. It was in her bowling alley and moved home after they sold the business. Things I am seeing with my limited knowledge, needs shopped badly, bands are falling off. It will turn on but not launch a ball. 3 of the displays do not work. If I move the cable from the working one the others will work but display segments are out. I found a number of connectors unplugged, plugged them in with no changes. Found a burnt connector on the board and gets warm when powered on. Also cannot find what this connector goes to. She wants 400 for it. I am not afraid to fix it but I don't want to pump more money in it than I could sell it for when I'm tired of owning it. See pictures and let me know your thoughts.

Quoted from Pablito350:

For $400 you could do a lot worse. Looks like a nice project.

Yeah maybe but my knowledge is limited to what I learn on here. Don't want to get in too much over my head.

Quoted from Jason43:

I mean, for 400 bucks, you'll get your money back easily if you can't get it going.

Any thoughts on that hot connector? Anyone see that before? Or how about that loose connector?

Quoted from yaksplat:

That's a speaker wire.
Reterminate the hot connector. The connections inside are fouled.

I am sorry, I don't understand the connector repair.

Quoted from midcoastsurf:

Did you buy it? It’s a low risk project. Save the displays for last and focus on boards and playfield is my reco.

I have not yet. Still waiting to hear back from her. If I did but it shopping it and making sure it played was first thing. Displays last for sure. Just not sure what direction I would need to go with the not starting and board issue.
