Still looking for a left slingshot plastic, any condition. Let me know thanks

Couple on ebay, not cheap though.

#1453 1 year ago

Yeah, seen those, not into spending $30 for 1 plastic. Game is a bit rough anyways so a crack or chip is ok. Can't believe nobody has one kicking around.

Ha! They are a perfect fit for each other

If that falls through let me know, I think I have that laying around (bought new for mine). You could have for cost of postage.

And if anyone would happen to have the upper metal bracket (ball gate assembly A-10744), please let me know. Mine is quite bent. [quoted image]

Still looking for this gate assembly if anyone has one….thx

Anybody know the differences in ROM versions? Rev1 (L1 ???) vs L4 vs L5?

I have Rev1 Game/Sound roms and the 4 speech roms say PROTO 1

#1465 1 year ago

Also in Function #34 ...Game Adjustments #4 Background/Attract Mode Sound there is a column labeled "Spot ducks/rabbits double target" which can be changed from on to off. Does anyone know what this does?

And per function 29 - Max plumb bob tilts(including warnings) factory is 3, I set to 2 and with both if I contact 1 time it goes straight to tilt, no warnings???

I'm not positive, but the first time you attempt to light the 4 duck and 4 rabbit targets, hitting one will light not only the one you hit, but the one next to it. I assume that is a function of this setting being on. After the first round which turns on the lights for the center-ramp, I believe this function disappears and you have to hit each target directly.

The best apron cards for Comet I've seen were a design from Mr_Tantrum - you could DM him.

Not positive, but I believe this turns on/off the rule that allows a single duck/rabbit target hit to also light an additional duck/rabbit next to the one that was hit. I believe that it only does that the first time you hit them and once you light the center comet ramp they then only count as the single target hit.

So I have not seen any pinball cards for Comet - other then the standard cards.

Anyone have any nice looking instruction cards in color, I have the original cards they are just basic.

Anyone do anything special here they can share?

Great Plains had it for me but he is currently not taking orders …

#1474 1 year ago

You can get the part number from Great Plains and find it on Mouser. I have had to do that in the past when he was out of stock.

#1475 1 year ago

I recently acquired a Comet. The "Million Point" jump ramp shroud isn't connected to anything in the center or back of the shroud. I see there are screw holes in the shroud, but nothing under the shroud to screw it to. I looked around for pics of how the shroud is supposed to be installed and couldn't find anything. The manual I have for Comet does not a drawing for this assembly either. I was hoping somebody here could be nice enough to share some pics of how their shroud is installed. Are there supposed to be posts underneath that the screws go into to support that ramp? If so, what length should the be. Thanks in advance- Ryan

Welcome to the club. There is an arch type thing that seems to be missing on yours for the rear holes. Front holes just have posts. Here is pic...

Edit: not seeing the part on Marco or ebay.

Thank you for the reply. I guess I'll try to find a picture of the part you're talking about and fabricate my own. Thanks again.

When I have more time I can disassemble and get you details. Hopefully tomorrow. Or maybe somebody has an extra.

I stripped a parts Comet about 10 years ago and foolishly sold the playfield whole. I should have saved every last bracket and screw. That having been said it makes you wonder how parts like that go missing?

#1481 1 year ago

Oh wow, this is amazing. Thanks for giving the dimensions, too. That will save me at least a couple mock-ups and trial runs. Once again, the Pinside folks come through in a pinch. Much appreciated!

My wife and I bought a project comet from an estate sale a few weeks ago and I just added it to our collection. Today I am joining the comet club.

You won't be disappointed. At my house, other games come and go, but Comet and Baby Pac are there for good.

Having issues with the backlights on a Comet Pin. The “coaster Car” is not lighting up. Can someone help me trace this issue?

I think the car circuit gets it's power from the wires right in front of the relay cube on the back of the lamp board

Check if those are getting power

The eyes of the car are separate

Quoted from vid1900:

I can attest to this because I have the same problem at one time had to make sure the power was getting there and it turned out to be a cold solder joint. The funny thing was the flashing eyes which are different mine had a diode put on the wrong spot. That's what led me to figure it all out

#1487 1 year ago

Okay so I'm circling back on Comet I have a couple of minor issues I got a tackle but now the Billy ball eject keeps firing. Not sure why it's doing that unless perhaps the diode has failed but everything tested fine. I assume this has got to be something simple that I'm missing. Any thoughts? Thank you

Also I'm dreading it but the dunk the dummy just isn't popping up appropriately anymore. Again everything there seems to be in place. I feel like it tries once or twice and it might get it up just High Enough so that it registers but that's it. I'd be looking for a good tutorial on how to clean and take care of the dunk the dummy as well.

Put a piece of paper between the switch contacts and see if he is still firing.

Bend the tabs on the ass of the switch further apart, examine carefully for solder splash flake

Could be flaky pre-driver or driver transistor

Yeah so I went back and looked at the switch it was fine but when I looked at it again it wasn't just a little bending made the trick

So since I was messing around with Comet anyways, my machine it looks like from the factory had the Flasher for the eyes on one eye and the nose. I finally decided to change it but I realized that the nose has the three prong socket where the other eyeball did not so when I just moved the diode and the Live Wire over it blew that little diode. My question is if I move the sockets over and get a new diode as I should will having the unsafe wires be a problem for the eye on the left? See my picture for what I'm talking about you can imagine the the two upper light sockets are the eyeballs in the lower one is the nose. Does anyone else have pictures of their machine of the specific area? I want to make sure that the wiring looks correct.

Watching a gameplay video, looks pretty good.

1. Is there a way to turn off the background music? I see setting 34 -- does it work on just the background "music"
2. Is the only voice -- for the drop target water dunk guy? -- I think I heard him yell millions too. anything else?

I have a little problem. I installed a new Williams/Bally System 9, 11, 11A and 11B, and 11C MPU Board #MPU9211 with all new chips. I have no sound, if I put old board back in, I have sound. Any ideas. Thank you.

I just got confirmation from a Comet owner that setting #34 works as intended. You can in fact turn off that background noise pattern.

jaytrem - Thank you for the dimensions on the cycle jump ramp bracket. This is what I came up with. It's not as pretty as the original, but it's functional and will be buried under plastic...so good enough! I couldn't have done it without your help, thanks again. -Ryan

Going to be working on Comet this weekend, I would love to see the way people have the wiring set up for the GI and the flashers on the back of the head. I think mine was altered

What is the proper set of legs for a Comet?

chrome single-rib?
dark grey no rib?

Or are there a few options?
