Quoted from Patzik:

I should have included the file for making the ramp decal for those interested. I thought it would be best to use pdf format so there won't be issues due to scaling.[quoted image]

Did you mean to cut off the image halfway through the first set of heads (or is the problem on my end)?

#802 4 years ago

It's my understanding that was intentional. Since this is just meant to cover the ramp protector and the protectors I've seen don't go past that point. I think you're supposed to print it and cut it down to the length you need. Thank you Patzik for providing these!

#803 4 years ago

Just joined this week. Needs some love for sure. Ordered both ramps from @freeplay40. Does anyone know where I can get the cycle jump decal that goes on the ramp from somewhere other than Marco?

#806 4 years ago
Quoted from yaksplat:

I hate the pricing on stickers

Now I feel like I got screwed. Payed $20 for the stand ups. ‍♂️

#807 4 years ago

Don't feel screwed, but here's another option... I printed these on sticker paper and laminated this. Cut them out and used a hole punch to make the holes for the targets. With the laminating process you also laminate the backside, but this doesn't matter as it peels off, because of the sticker paper.
I used a 1 inch hole punch for the outside, and a regular hole punch for inside of the round decals.
Worked really well for me!!
Comet Stickers 2.pdfComet Stickers 2.pdfComet Stickers.pdfComet Stickers.pdf

Both again in pdf to counter any scaling problems, one is in A5 and one is in A4 format but should print fine on any other size paper.

#808 4 years ago

Oh and about the ramp protector decal, the size is indeed a bit bigger than any protector I have seen.
Just stick in on the ramp protector so that it lines up with the original decal, and then cut to size.

#809 4 years ago

This one has a bit better resolution I think.

Rookie question: Installing a new corkscrew ramp from @freeplay40. Does the tab on the left need to go under the lip of the ramp or is that to hold it down? Haven’t played the game yet but ran a ball through there a couple times and it wants to get stuck below the entrance.(I’ve played with adjusting the screws too so that’s out) Therefore, the ramp needs to be raised just a hair. Any suggestions?

I have mine under the ramp lip. Works perfectly.

I know the clearance under that ramp is very close...I agree the ramp should sit on top of the metal bracket.....I suspect this metal bracket, just like ramp covers to keep the ball in the ramps, was an after thought when a problem was realized.

#816 4 years ago

Mine's too far away to put under. I wasn't comfortable leaving it bent like that, so I put a double star post in the hole at the 6 o'clock position from the ramp. It sits on a rubber on the post.

So I got a bunch of parts from an old operator awhile back and finally started going through them. Turns out I stumbled into a stash of NOS Comet center ramp flaps. There are 10 total. I opened one to check them out since they still have the protective plastic on them. Anyway figured this would be the place to find them a home. Just looking for $25 + shipping on them I figured that’s about the price Cliffy would charge for something like this. If you want one just reach out to me via Pinside or email [email protected] or text 574-596-2668. There are pictures below to show them wrapped and the opened one.

Niiiice!!

I'm looking into designing the Corkscrew ramp for mine so that I can 3D print. Mine has some holes in it :/

#825 4 years ago

Freeplay40 makes replacement ramps if 3d printing your own doesnt work out or isnt an option. My old corkscrew ramp was held together with hotglue and hope.

Thank you for the heads up. This was more of a personal development project for me. Trying to learn some new skills like CAD while I'm holed up at home.

Nothing wrong with that at all. I'm sure we'd all like to see what kind of progress you make!

Joining the club today, picked one up that was I. Rougher condition than I thought by far. Doing the flipper rebuild and leds today and tomarrow. Clean and wax on sunday. Few questions.

1. The ramps are cracked and got tape on them but stickers are good, anything I can use to try to fix the ramps and later protect them? If not then who's got ramps for this.

2. In travel one of the 7 digit displays broke 5 leads at the beginning of the display, tried to sauder them back into place but it wasn't taking. First time experience with displays that are not dmd, so any help would be appreciated.

3. Anyone know a place that has the plastics?

#829 4 years ago

These are available now. Center ramp is first up for the new heater. Plastic sets available at CPR

I only have 2 of the Comet center ramp entrance flaps left if anyone out there is still needing one let me know. I plan to go to post office on Monday to ship the current ones. Shipping has been right around $5.00 for everyone so I've just made them $30.00 even, paypapl friends and family. [email protected]

Please reach out to make sure I have one left before you send me money though. Pinside message, email, or feel free to text 574-596-2668. Have a good day everyone.

All Comet center ramp entrance/flaps are now spoken for. If anything falls through I'll update. Thanks to those of you who purchased them, I hope they make your machines pop a little bit more.

Question. How does one change the high score numbers in the game, I'm told its option 12 but that will only let me cycle displaying in on 1,2,4 displays. How do I lower the number from 3 mil?

#837 3 years ago

Nevermind. Figured it out with a manual.
But if anyone could post a picture of their flippers at resting position, so I know mine are at the right position. Recently did a rebuild on them and just want to make sure, it looks like the right one travels farther but I might just have them at the wrong orientation.

Aswell as a picture of the front of the center ramp. When I did the teardown on mine the from peice (the part with the three screws. Had a little metal bracket that I cant remember if it was under or over the plastic. The ramp is breaking at that area and just want to make sure I have it on right before I try to mend it.

Happy to be in the club. Love this thing.

Don't quote me on this as I'm no expert but I believe flipper alignment will be correct if you drop straightened paper clips in the holes behind the flippers and tighten the flipper bats with them resting on the paper clips.

Here's mine

Anybody got an idea on a replacement for the ball kicker assemblies for this thing. Looks like previous ownder had some issues with the hinges for these things and mine finally snapped today. All I need is the hinge but assumed I'd need to by the whole crank assembly. Marco is out, maybe there's a game with a similar ball kicker I can use to replace or as parts? Right now I just wrapped wire around it and screwed it in (looks horrible, and doesn't function well at all) to hold the assembly in place. Please if anyone has any ideas let me know.

I’m in!
My spiral ramp was cracking so I whipped up a 3D printer protector to reinforce the outside wall. Also made a protector for the right ramp

Latest addition to my comet. I had a non working score display and the ball/credit display wasn't working.
As I could not find a replacement for a reasonable price (sometime due to shipping fees), and the replacement led option are about $200 I looked into the option of making these myself. I found the design was already available and after some work, sourcing parts and having the pcb's made I finally soldered my own led displays. Designed and 3d printed the covers for the digits, and have to say, it looks GREAT. Happy to have it all in full working order again.

GREAT work! You should consider making kits. I’d be all over it if i had more games that needed it. Plenty of guys out there with soldering irons.
