Quoted from Aurich:

And that's why ColorDMD costs what it does. It's not the hardware. Ask anyone who's coloring games right now how much work Randy does to support things. New development is what allowed Iron Man to happen for instance.
You're paying for all the work, not just a screen.
Sure, cheaper is nice. But I pay for mine just like everyone else and I'm happy to do it, because it's a killer product and I know how much effort it takes to make it happen.

Yeah I don't see it getting any cheaper. It's a premium product that's not necessary, made possible by a big amount of labor. If I had a game that used it, I wouldn't mind paying the price they ask.

I would love to color some lesser titles like Gottliebs or Sega/DEs

Quoted from Rascal_H:

This sounds rediculous. A dremel? Elongating a bracket? Remove GI (that was meant to be there). Maybe this game should have been skipped. Probably going to return my order or exchange it for a different game.

I don't think it would be one game that would have to be skipped. It's more like all of the DE games.

I would like to see pics of a DE install. Is there any way to get around all of that cutting? I've never seen that panel before.

#728 7 years ago

He was in the first Terminator. I forgot about that.

#734 7 years ago

What about the microphone? What's that for?

#737 7 years ago
Quoted from Rascal_H:

I think those are just all the tools you'll need in the next installation.

You're still salty about the Tommy install, huh?

Quoted from xfassa:

It has to be Twister.
Clue #1: Bill Paxton (who was in Twister)
Clue #2: Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega who produced Twister) and Sunglasses/drumstick representing Alex Van Halen (Song performed by Van Halen in Twister)

Paxton was in Apollo 13 also produced by Sega.

He was also in Terminator. I wonder if the hedgehog image is in reference to Arnold's catchphrase but I don't know what the microphone is for.

#749 7 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

The hedgehog had a stick pointing to the one eye plus Arnold wore sunglasses in T2.

I thought maybe he was pointing to his eye and laying on his back for "I'll be back."

Don't forget about T3.

Quoted from RDReynolds:

Poor Simpsons Kooky Carnival misses the list again.

Didn't Bally/Williams make a few slot machines with DMDs? I've tried looking for info on those but there's virtually none.

It was hard for me to understand how the coloring system works until I started helping. Rules and code can be changed without affecting the ColorDMD. Only if new graphics are added will there have to be some adjustment but it shouldn't affect the images already colored.

#957 7 years ago
Quoted from moto_cat:

Will these affect the CDMD?

It's possible.

#969 7 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

Non Traditional Pinball or Redemption games:
Slugfest; Super Mario Bros. Mushroom World

Aren't there a ton more of these? I saw a Sega Cut The Cheese on CL and I had a fleeting thought of buying it and coloring it. I don't know that Randy would be interested in that ROM though.

#971 7 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

That is a coin roll as well. Not pinball.

But it does have a DMD.

I see you've changed the headline to "Redemption Pinball Games". What have you got against non pinball games being colored?

#974 7 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

Here is the updated list of DMD games that have not been Colorized yet (****Updated with BDK, SM and SMVE Removed ****):

Non Traditional Pinball or Redemption pinball games:

You're also missing the three Spinball games: Verne's World, Jolly Park, Mach 2.0 Two.

Plus Inder's Bushido.

#976 7 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

The reason I compiled the data was to form a list of pinball games that have a DMD and were mainstream games for ColorDMD to possibly color. I intentionally left off the obscure titles that had only a few owners or only a few produced.
Certainly most of us would prefer to see the more plentiful games colored first. If somebody wanted to spend time coloring an obscure title then that is their choice/business.

I'm not trying to irritate you but merely trying to help fill in the gaps. Spinball games or at least Verne's World have to have comparable numbers to Mystery Castle and AMH. I know I've seen more Spinball games than Alvin G. or Spooky games.

Personally it would be neat to have a list of all games made by major pinball companies that use a DMD. There's not a lot data on the internet showing bowlers, slot machines, or redemption games that used DMDs.

#978 7 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

If you want to compile that list then feel free. The only thing about it I would suggest is that it should have its own thread not related to ColorDMD.
It would be easy to add back into the list the 42 ColorDMD titles and then add whatever other titles you want.

Thanks.

I saw a Verne's World on CL and that reminded me your list was missing Spinball. They're pretty cool games. I've seen about three Verne's Worlds and two Jolly Parks in person and a couple on CL. I've only seen one Alvin G Band and one AMH and that was at the same show in Ohio.

When I searched Spinball on IPDB, I didn't know they came from Inder and that Inder made one DMD game, Bushido. Very interesting.

Quoted from transprtr4u:

I'm hoping that the LED panels will open the doors for data east games to be colourized , lots of owners not willing to modify the speaker panel to accommodate the LCD

There were quite a few Data East/Sega titles being worked on before the LED.

Quoted from kst8cat:

Looks like you need to add Jolley Park (Spinball, 1995) to the list. I had never heard of it until I saw this for sale thread:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-jolly-park-3#post-3480040

That's been discussed before by me. I think there are more Spinball games than Alvin G. games but DCFAN disagrees for his list. No big deal, just relaying facts.

Quoted from Whysnow:

and yet, WOOLY heppened

I'm going to find a Sega Cut The Cheese and color it for a nice April Fools' Joke to DCFAN.

#1096 7 years ago

I did make a non pinball DMD list by a suggestion from DCFAN. He said to make a new thread but I think that's kind of superfluous. I'll post it here once. Not sure if any games from the list will ever be colored but it is a unique and interesting list.

Quoted from DCFAN:

There were actually two major reasons I omitted Spinball from the list. One was that it was not a major manufacturer of pinball machines that were shipped to the English speaking world as far as I could tell, and the other reason was that hardly anybody on Pinside owns them.
The list has no bearing on whether a game gets colored. If an owner wants their game colored then it is their prerogative to contact Randy at ColorDMD and ask if they can do it. I doubt it will be a priority until the major manufacturer games are mostly done, but good luck with that request.

When we were discussing before I'm sure you didn't know I was doing some work for ColorDMD but I would love to do one of those oddball games. A Williams slot or redemption like Hot Shot or my dream would be to find an Utterly Tickets. There's no big collectors or arcades in my area though so I have to purchase the games I color. It may be awhile before I get to it.

I'm not expecting much, if any at all, compensation to do it.

#1101 7 years ago
Quoted from transprtr4u:

Why no love for Data East games ? Tommy the only completed game?
I do believe that someone had done that prior to Color DMD !
Tales from the Crypt has amazing graphics and seemingly there is a demand for Color. Would love to find out the process of how the choice is made of what game is to be honoured with Color !

You forgot about Star Wars and Guns and Roses. I'd say that some love for DE with more games colored than Sega.

#1105 7 years ago
Quoted from TxJay:

The more games there are in the market the more opportunities there are to sell.

By that logic, maybe they need to start supporting Gottlieb as a whole.
