This is interesting. There are 2 different sets of mounting instructions for Data East. One for a wooden speaker panel and one for a plastic speaker panel. If you don't look closely at the top of the instructions, it's easy to miss that detail.
Here is revision 4 that is linked to on the Tommy ColorDMD page. It is for the plastic speaker panel and shows the latest version of the LCD mounting panel.
Here is revision 6 that is linked to from the GNR page. It is for the wooden speaker panel and shows the previous version of the LCD mounting panel.

Now that's customer service! 8 1/2 hours from bug report to software revision. On a Saturday!!! WoooHooo!!
Quoted from Rascal_H:This sounds rediculous. A dremel? Elongating a bracket? Remove GI (that was meant to be there). Maybe this game should have been skipped. Probably going to return my order or exchange it for a different game.
With a different power cable, it will go right in your CFTBL.
I don't think it's as bleak as you make it look. If you mounted the LCD as low as possible, would you still have to take out all those lights? For any of them that just barely interfere, you could probably use LED flex lights.
A few plastic spacers and some weatherstrip foam and it's done.
The LVDS cable should be plenty long enough to reach the ColorDMD PCB if mounted on the back of the light board.
Someday I will own a R&B and I will figure out how to put a LCD in it. I have looked at the pics of the hat trick and the main reason the trick plastics hang down is to maintain alignment. If it can be figured out how to keep them from tilting sideways, they can be made shorter and the lift mechanism moved up.
