Wow 2 more make it so Color DMD!! I would do it myself if I could
Quoted from Animal:just installed one for my LOTR tonight...very nice, must have!
I recommend turning the brightness all the way up, made the display much better IMO on LOTR
2015 certainly started off with a bang... 6 new titles in three months, a total rewrite of the coloring engine to add high resolution upscaling and 4 other rendering modes, free updates for all 20 supported multicolor titles, expanded features for backlight/contrast/vertical adjustments...
But we know what you're thinking Pinside. "It's April! We haven't seen a new release from you guys in... what... three weeks now?!?... What have you done for me lately?!?"
Well...

Uh oh. Metallica.
Any chance you post a new/updated list of games in the colorization process? I certainly have seen an uptick in people buying the displays for games ahead of the ROM releases for games such as Metallica.
Quoted from TheLaw:So I can just buy the Sigma Display now and be ready for Metallica to come out?
Yes. I've had a sigma in my Metallica for months now. Just update the display when they release Metallica color.

Awesome. Whew - at least I don't have to dump another $400 (for now). I already have one in there in color change mode sync'd with the speaker lights. So, I'll just need a USB key to make it go.
Jaz
My colorDMD for Metallica is being delivered today's!!! Man I haven't wanted to get out of work this bad in a long time LOL
I have a red gel over my TZ DMD so I'm enjoying red for the last 3 years.
Though, I'm behind in putting color in Dr. Who!! I must have more color!! I only have 4 at this time.
What is your ColorDMD addiction level?

Will it still utilize the RGB sync'd function after/with the ROM update?
Quoted from boogies:Will it still utilize the RGB sync'd function after/with the ROM update?
I definitely don't want the display synced to the speakers after the color update, so maybe CDMD can say something here about any cables that should be disconnected if one has the sync running? Thanks.
Quoted from boogies:Will it still utilize the RGB sync'd function after/with the ROM update?
No. How would that work? Right now, the ColorDMD changes its monochromatic color to match the color from the speaker lights. Now it will be full color and not running in sigma mode. I'll have to wait and see if I keep the speakers color changing or go to a continuous color. Once the release the code I'll play around and see what looks best.

True. Would be nice to know as we decide between SmartDMD and ColorDMD. I've bought one for every machine I own so far (ouch) and agree it would be nice to know if some of the projects identified early on are still on track and if any others are underway. Some of my Red/Amber machines are getting really jealous

The LAMP_IN input on the ColorDMD controls color changing only when running the SIGMA ROM. For the multicolor ROMs, it controls lighting up squares at the bottom of the screen for the THING lamps on TAF.
For all other cases, you would simply not plug anything into LAMP_IN.
I have the Sigma for Spiderman and Speaker LED kit, how can I sync the Sigma display to the speakers? Do I need to order a specific cable?
Also, psyched for the Metallica Rom...put the Sigma Display in a few weeks ago and cant wait for the Rom...When can we expect it?
Quoted from QuarterGrabber:I have to ask. How soon until we see Tron
You wouldn't want to see FG or XMen first? I see those in your collection. Or is Tron the more favorite game that you have?
Quoted from PinballManiac40:You wouldn't want to see FG or XMen first? I see those in your collection. Or is Tron the more favorite game that you have?
I would honestly want to see Xmen first, then Tron, then TWD, then FGY. But I gave up hope on Xmen when I found out it didn't have enough memory to support the programing of the colouring
Quoted from DCFAN:Any chance you post a new/updated list of games in the colorization process?
There are currently 15 titles in active development, and a handful more that we have been approached about but not yet started. In most cases, we can't predict when/if these will complete and intentionally avoid identifying them and raising expectations.
At the beginning of the year, we identified five titles that are a focus for 2015... ACDC, MET, TRON, ST, and TZ. Each of these games pose unique challenges, with no assurance that they could/will be completed.
At this time, ACDC is complete. MET, TRON, and ST are in progress with experienced developers, and work on TZ will begin later this year.
Of the 15 titles, 9 are Stern games (6 SAM), 3 are Bally/Williams, and 3 are DE/SEGA.

There is information here: http://www.colordmd.com/ColorChange.html
Speakerlightkits.com sells assembled cables for interfacing with the ColorDMD:

ColorDMD does not edit/modify any manufacturer ROMs, and we are not limited by memory constraints like other systems.

OMG, that is amazing news! I thought all systems would be the same for the memory use. I hope you do Xmen, I would buy it in a flash. The more I learn about ColorDMD the more I like it. Ignorance is bliss I guess. Ps, please do Xmen!

Why not go ahead and buy a SAM Sigma display now? You will get the benefits of the multicolored display, but in a solid color of YOUR choosing. Then you would only have to download the multicolor file once it is released. I put one in Twister for the Texas Pinball Festival a few weeks ago. It was a major improvement for that game.
As shown in the video, you would have a major upgrade from that LED display you have now.

Because if a new feature comes out that requires new hardware you'd be out of luck. The manufacturer would never say and there's no way of predicting so why chance it?

i was referring QuarterGrabber to put a Sigma display in XMEN.
Really don't know which game(s) you could be referring to.
I don't recall XMEN having the short videos that Tron has, so it seems like a straight forward game to colorize.
I've been tempted to buy one early for my Star Trek premium. But like Dmod said, there are no assurances that it can be completed. I think it's totally worth the money for a full multicolored display, but not for a plain single color display.

You make a good point here but with the current exchange it's over $600 with shipping to get a colourDMD and I would prefer multicolour to a single colour for that dough. I really hope Xmen gets coloured, it's definently never leaving my collection.

It's only money.
