I read/skimmed almost this entire thread and only one person said LED for Simpsons, everyone else said LCD for it. I haven’t seen any other TSPP in person but have seen LCD Hires on videos (and in person for LOTR only so anticipate knowing what it will look like.)

I installed a LCD in a TSPP this summer, set it to HiRes, and was very pleased with the result. I would recommend that route.
