Glad I ordered 2 displays on Wednesday.
Sorry guys. I'm addicted to these and needed one for Indy 500 I'm getting very soon.

Quoted from Allibaster:Id like to see it with up scaling, but I'm guessing it won't look that great....
IMO it looks best with DotsXL, but I feel that way about all ColorDMD. With dots, your brain fills in the missing details and resolution - the "Hi Rez" mode doesn't fool you into thinking you're watching an Iron Man Blu-Ray.
But hey - everyone can chose the setting they like best.
We are currently sold out of all displays, but leaving ordering open for our November production run. New units are expected to begin shipping by the end of next week.
Quoted from PopBumperPete:Just installed my color DMD in my Ironman
just waiting for the release
That makes two of us Pete. Glad I ordered 2 when I decided to put one in STLE.
Quoted from jokerpoker:That makes two of us Pete. Glad I ordered 2 when I decided to put one in STLE.
this is the forth one I have installed, but the other three were in Bally/Williams games
I don't need instructions!!!
until I turned it on, and garbage filled the screen
Seems I do need to read the instructions
the other three were WPC games, and the screen comes configured for them
did not realize I had to change the settings for SAM
Opps
works great though
Don't forget Tron as the color ROM is coming soon.
Quoted from PinballManiac40:Don't forget Tron as the color ROM is coming soon.
Quoted from Aurich:From their site:
"How can I change the settings on my ColorDMD display?
ColorDMD controller boards include a simple four-button menu system for changing and saving display settings. The right button is used to enter the menu system. Then left and right buttons move through the adjustable settings which currently include color, display style, backlight, and mounting position. The inner buttons are used to modify settings. The "SAVE AND EXIT" screen allows new settings to be stored to the display."
Basically get access to the back of it, and then hit the button on the right (with the screen facing you the far right button). That will get you into the menu to mess with settings.
I know how to use the menu, but I don't know what causes the upscaling...that was my question.
Quoted from RDReynolds:I know how to use the menu, but I don't know what causes the upscaling...that was my question.
Ah, okay, so go through the menu and one of the options will let you choose between the styles, like dots, dotsXL, scan lines, tile, etc. By default it should be on dots, so look for that.

If I may add - I think 8-Bit and HiRes are also names of "upscaling" modes.

AH! I was running Sigma 2.5, upgraded, WOW that is a HUGE difference. Love Tile view!!!

You've seen IM ColorDMD in DotsXL??

I actually think the XL dots make it look too blobby.
/guy who worked on it

I like the XL dots look great on my White Water and Scared Stiff, but I'm thinking they'd look "blobby" like you said on the Iron Man due to the movie clips.
Care to share a clip?

Which one is best to you for IM?

DotsXL is the sweet spot for the classic Bally/Williams games. I have LOTR in Tile and AC/DC in 8-Bit. Ohm and of course TZ in B&W Scan.
I have my display from xmen and the cables that came with it, Will the wiring that came with it work for ironman ?
Quoted from happilymarried05:I have my display from xmen and the cables that came with it, Will the wiring that came with it work for ironman ?
Yes
With one exception. There was the classic edition of IM. Does anyone know if the head opens and is the same as the regular?
Quoted from happilymarried05:i have imve the first run not the latest
It will work fine in that. He was referring to the Costco version.

great. thank you

I was helping them w some testing and I tried it with all the filters. DotsXL is still my fav. I'll put up a video after the code is released.
Quoted from DCFAN:Which one is best to you for IM?
For the film clip parts, I think they look best in original dots -- but everybody has different tastes, so you'll have to see what you like best after you get it set up.

Sure, when SM gets done.

Thanks again to Eric (epthegeek) for his stellar work on this title!
just downloaded and installed the rom
great work by Eric
with the video clips, you can now see what is happening, rather than the blur of pixels

Got video?
Can someone post a video of various resolution of the animation please. I know there's hd scaling and standard dots. Wanna make my mind on it.

Thanks for the video. Could you please post a video with SCAN? I think many of us would just like to see it regardless of whether it is not as good.
Yes, congrats to Eric on this epic release to make a great game even better (for the people not playing, watch the DMD and drain your balls - you have been warned!)

Sure I'll try to do it later
made a quick movie too this morning when my daughter was playing
Really like it. This is my first colordmd. More will follow...
It's even more beautifull in reality. Only one thing foam should be included to keep it dustfree (for the newer sterns),
because there is distance between speaker panel and display, but I solved it with doorfoam.

Cool, your daughter plays better than me.
Can you explain the door foam?
Quoted from rai:Can you explain the door foam?
something like this, because otherwise dust can go on the display.
I'm a bit perfectionist for that and I like my dmd's to be dustfree on the inside too...
Also it's better so the light of the translite doesn't shine on the dmd

Is that adhesive? I suppose I can get it on Amazon? Where exactly does it go with the install? I've got the VE, I'm not sure exactly how it's suppose to be installed
Thanks.

Ugh. I noticed a problem in your video. Randy will be posting a new ROM as soon as it's tested.

Night & day when it's in color. That match sequence looked awesome!

I'm sure thats just a detail.
Played again tonight, really impressed. You Guys did a great job here!

The issue is how some of the clips (like the monger fight parts) brighten up when the score is on the screen. It's not a big deal, but it looks like crap to me because I know it's not supposed to do that.

that's the bane of coloring, you learn to see everything!

I notice the spinner "gun shooting" screen is really bright...I guess that's why.
