I'm uploading a video in each mode right now to youtube. It's taking awhile, but i'll post the link here soon. The quality isn't the best since it's tough getting the perfect angle, and my phone wasn't in focus at times, but you'll get the idea. This display is awesome, and i highly recommend it. It looks great in all modes, i think i like the scan mode the most though.

These are great - thanks.

Domijr's scan mode video is done now if anyone is interested - you can find it in his channel. (Seems wrong to just link to it for some reason so I'm not going to.)

One question though - it's a bit hard to distinguish it from the hires mode. It was my favorite looking of the still images, but I'm not really seeing the texture in the video. Limit of youtube, or is it more apparent live?

Sorry for taking so long to finish posting, i fell asleep on the couch The texture on the Scan mode is awesome and is sorta tough to see on the video, but it is definitely there and that's what makes me like it the most. I'll try and make another video in the morning going thru the different mode settings and i'll try and hold up the cam very close to show some detail.

As for linking the channel, it's all good, i created a separate youtube channel for these videos that i won't be using. I'm going to take my time and edit a good video for my real channel

I think it is a bit of limitation of youtube perhaps, or camera but in person the difference is pretty clear between scan and hires.

Scan lines mode is really awesome. I'm leaning toward that for default on TSPP..

I added another video to my post on page 4 showing how easy it is to switch thru modes, and also showing the detail a bit better for each mode.

I agree. There is quite a big difference in person. At first, I thought I liked hires better on the game I was trying it on because scan seemed quite a bit darker. After increasing the contrast, however, scan looks great.

Because of the additional colored pixels (less black ones), the entire screen feels brighter, and I was able to lower the backlight brightness, resulting in better black levels. Thumbs up all around!

Thanks - the close up on scan mode looks great.

So everyone seems to like scan over hires, i thought hires was fine. Can we get more details describing the differences between those two modes?

thanks

Scan is the same as hires with a texture effect laid over the top of it. It provides a little more shading effect between the bright/mid/low levels and also softens some of the sharp corners visible in hires.

Turning down the contrast in hires mode will also enhance the difference in shading between levels at the expense of some overall brightness.

Scan was introduced on SIGMA for games like Twilight Zone but it produces a nice effect on all games.

JimB, I purchased the DMD for my ToM and really liked it. This prompted me to buy one for my TSPP. With the updates they did to TSPP it's even better! I highly recommend getting one for TSPP.

On the 13th of February the updated version used on TSPP will be available to all of the existing DMDs already released.

LOTR has already been released.

Others will follow shortly, but the date has not actually been announced.

Thanks herg for posting. I don't have a LOTR so I didnt see this. I only have three machines that take a DMD (TOM, TSPP and POTC). I have one in TSPP and TOM and looking forward to adding POTC in the future.
