Score! Awesome release. Thanks all involved. Mine is ordered!

Quoted from Dmod:

The 12V adapter cable supplied with new Game of Thrones displays will also work with Ghostbusters, as both games have a power distribution board in the backbox that can supply 12V. This is all that is needed for new display installation in these games.
KISS and WWE have a different power distribution board, and a different power solution is needed.
Pinball Life and Mezel Mods both offer solutions for obtaining 12V (and 5V needed by older ColorDMD displays) from SPIKE games.

Do all GOTs have the 12v power supply? Mine was a dec 2015 build so wonder if it’s didferent. Guess I’ll have to check when I get home.

So my GOT color dmd already delivered! Not gonna install tonight but does it come with the rom installed already or do I have to wait til it's posted on the website?

Anyone got a link to the spike install instructions (PDF)?

#59 6 years ago

Can someone tell me if this

Is the hookup for the 12vdc color dmd cable?

EDIT: disclaimer - apparently the way I hooked it up isn't the correct way? But wiring the correct way didn't work for me. So install at your own risk I suppose.

Got mine installed. Here’s some helpful install tips for people who are dumb at this like me

1. Pic i have above is where you plug power into. Should look like this:

2. Mounting. Don’t forget about the clear plastic color dmd guard which is at the bottom of the box under the foam. After removing the old dmd, there will be 6 screws lodged in the metal panel (unremovable). Put the clear plastic on, then use the 2 washers (color dmd) + 1 black spacer (existing) + 1 extender (color dmd) on each of the corner screws. Install washer > spacer > washer > extender (at least I think that’s the order):

3. Install the color dmd and use the color dmd hex extenders (4) to lock dmd in place. Use the 2 mounting screws on the dmd for the existing zip tie wire runs.

When all is hooked up. Color dmd should look like this:

And power supply from spike board should look like this (keep in mind the tabs on the cable connector need to be bent in order to firmly be seated) - and make sure your ground black wire is top:

Step 5: wait for winter. Speed up the process with eggnog + rum

Can’t wait for the color rom!CE1FE2DF-147E-49FD-9852-37071BE2D7C2 (resized).jpegCE1FE2DF-147E-49FD-9852-37071BE2D7C2 (resized).jpeg

Quoted from Dmod:

I'm surprised that worked. The board connection is correct but all GoT displays include a special adapter cable that convert between a 3-pin IDC and 3-pin molex. The IDC connects to the power distribution board and the molex connects to the provided SAM/WS power cable.

Well colored me confused. Is this how I was supposed to connect it?

Yes that’s it!

Didn't work lol

#68 6 years ago

Put it back to how I wired it and working. Something fishy going on? I've had it on for a good hour with no issues, I assume it's ok to leave this way?

Quoted from markp99:

» YouTube video

Man that video is sick.

One thing that has always bummed me out about GOT was how blurry and washed out the display animations were. If it weren’t for Dwight’s good use of scoring and multipliers, the dmd would be near worthless. I don’t care who you are, color for a title like this is huge and the video preview looks slick as shit.

I think i just screwed up, i didnt save my product key (lol?). Guess i shouldnt have installed while being distracted

#134 6 years ago

Also, is there indication that the ROM is completed uploaded? its been 1-2 minutes and program is still blinking at a steady pace like it was at the start.

#137 6 years ago
Quoted from Dmod:

You shouldn't need to save the product key with the Chroma boards... just the older Rev 1.3B boards.
If it's repeatedly blinking a slow blink, that's an error code that a file with the correct name CHROMA.ROM couldn't be found on the drive. If it's strobing quickly and nearly solid, it's still installing.

Instructions say it should be colordmd.rom

can you link me to the correct rom file and/or instructions?

#139 6 years ago
Quoted from Dmod:

COLORDMD.ROM is the name used for the older Rev 1.3B boards. The new ROMS should be saved as CHROMA.ROM.
http://www.colordmd.com/support_firmware_chroma.html
Install instructions are at the bottom of the page. Other than the file name, the installation for both boards is identical.

OK, thanks. Found it just as you posted that. Not sure how i ended up on the old install instructions. Thought i clicked the direct link. Like i said, probably shouldnt be doing this with half attention span

#140 6 years ago

Man, winter has come multiball just got 10X better with color dmd. I’ve owned GOT for 2 years and never saw Jon Snow slay the white walker on the display til now. Oh and the dragons during all 3 Targaryan modes, balls! This colorization of GOT is amazing!
