ColorDMD Announces LOTR as Next Title! (Official)

Somehow when I was watching people play this at Expo and League I didn't see the part with Gollum falling into the lava ...

People have been wondering what the first Stern title would be, and you can't argue with the choice, it looks great. File this one under "must have". Still holding out for Chris to do Metallica though!

I would guess that since Star Trek's code isn't mature yet that it wouldn't be on the list quite yet. New code might tweak the animations.

Star Trek only has that tiny DMD screen. I think a full size one like Judge Dredd should be next. Way cooler animations too.

We are referring to the recent Stern Star Trek, which has a standard size DMD, not the Data East Star Trek with the tiny DMD.

I love that LOTR is getting the ColorDMD treatment and most of the scenes look great! On my computer(s), the ring animations look green instead of yellow/gold. Is this just the video encoding or is there some reason for this?

I would imagine it is just the way the video was shot. I can't imagine Chris purposely coloring the ring green

Randy colored this one, not Chris.

And yes, the ring is yellow in person. The video is made by pointing a camera at the screen, it's not directly captured from the source digitally or anything, so it looks like the yellow has a bit of a green cast from that.

You can see it on the opening Lord of the Rings text too, that's yellow, but it has a bit of a green look on the video. It's purely an artifact of the camera.

will this interfere at all?

The ColorDMD doesn't touch your game ROM. Won't change a thing. When they talk about loading the ROM they mean the one for the actual color display.

No problems with shakers, or LE code, or anything else.
