I have a beautiful condition roadshow pinball machine that I got in a trade and my wife and daughter absolutely hate it.

The only reason I would be parting with it is to keep the peace and maybe get something that they would enjoy because a family playing pinball would be better than having something I wanted and people not wanting to go near any of it.

Besides a little bit faded sides this thing is in amazing shape.

The guy I got it from does amazing work and really takes care of his pinball machines!

Here’s a partial list of the things that have been added to it.

all new titan rubbers
- side art blades
- all new LED lights
- all new target decals
- custom painted radio (one of a kind)
- blast zone outhole lit with fire LED
- BLAST ZONE drain lit
- outhole lit with LED
- cliffy added
- leg protectors
- used bendies for all the road sign objectives
- led pop bumper caps to match
-custom light up dynamite mod
-4smd non ghosting added to playfield.
-custom chip to randomize mods
-added lighting to ramps.
And probably a couple things I forgot.

The Playfield is an amazing condition looks near new the heads were rebuilt and everything plays 100% and smooth.

So my question is should I add a color DMD and try to sell for more or get a different trade or should I sell it in the condition it is and with the normal DMD.

It might be a minute or two before I can sell it or trade it so I know I can enjoy the color DMD while I had it.

Thank you for any thoughts and options you have!

If you don't already have it, I wouldn't buy one just to sell the game. It wouldn't increase the value beyond the cost of the colordmd.

#3 1 year ago

I was thinking of listing it for about 5800 or 5900 Does that sound like a decent price?

#5 1 year ago

The colordmd doesn't add any more value than the cost of the colordmd itself, so sell as is. Your price sounds pretty fair in todays market, can always adjust a little if needed

#6 1 year ago

You cannot even get a new ColorDMD LCD today (out of stock), so that may impact your decision... assuming you didn't want LED.

#7 1 year ago

That’s what I was kind of thinking. Great game, super underrated.

#8 1 year ago

I actually was gonna go LED.

#9 1 year ago

I've got a pending sale for mine in similar condition at $4900 WITH the color DMD! Maybe I let mine go a little too cheap. In any case, the color DMD is a game changer in Road Show. It helps you see what the animations are actually supposed to be. In plain amber, I couldn't differentiate what was going on.

As others said, it won't add much to the value beyond the cost of the DMD. But if you plan to keep it for a bit, you will enjoy the play much more!

I’ve seen it in color and it looks great

#11 1 year ago

As was mentioned above, ColorDMD is entirely out of stock now. (Thanks atlan!)

In my experience, while the ColorDMD's are nice, they haven't added to resale value.

I just sold a similar machine for 6k, so pricing is fine.

#13 1 year ago

Haven’t read any of the responses but, get the dmd ( LCD) and keep the game!

#14 1 year ago

That actually was my plan but for some reason they think that they are creepy?

Guess your never gonna have a Funhouse either then ! Your game looks in great condition! Best of luck .

I was trying to use this to ease them into FH.

If your wife or kids are not into pinball they never will be it doesn’t matter what pin you bring in. If it’s your hobby enjoy the pin. Shit I know from personal experience I sold or traded pins thinking they would like x to finally accepting its my hobby only. Cost me a shit ton of money time and effort to get back the pins that left.

#18 1 year ago

I get what your saying. My wife has warmed up a bit to it but that’s about it. I agree, though there has to be a balance. Maybe it will stay.

#19 1 year ago

A ColorDMD is a fair better mod than all your current mods combined.
There is no machine that that looks better without a ColorDMD.

#20 1 year ago

I agree with that. A lot of the mods came on this and I just added a couple.

#21 1 year ago

I think you actually lose money selling game with colordmd. Most people don't want to pay full price for game plus full price for colordmd. You expect a bundle deal. They are easy to install and remove. I recommend getting one and removing it when it's time to sell. Easy to put it in another game.

#22 1 year ago

It won’t even raise the value the cost of the color dmd unless you include the original dmd in the sale.

Something about Roadshow doesn't resonate with players/collectors. It is not a desired theme and $5900 is way over priced. It looks like you have some other great games in your collection. If YOU like Roadshow, keep it and get the colorDMD for your enjoyment. Can't please everyone in the house with every pin you bring home.

Suggest the OP put the ad out open for offers, then you’ll see what people are willing to pay. I suspect he’ll get his price in this crazy market

Roadshow is an amazing pin.
I just added ColorDMD LCD about a week ago, the colorization is excellent.
I've owned Roadshow for about 15 years now... so I have some experience with it.
It doesn't get old and LOTS of people like it -- especially at shows.

And to be honest, if it's not a licensed theme then anyone "new" on Pinside doesn't like it.

But hey... that's just IMHO. We don't all need to like the same things.

#26 1 year ago

I agree...Roadshow is quite under-rated.

But, yeah, if you are going to sell it - sell it as is. The buyer can add whatever color display he wants (or not).

Your asking price is completely reasonable - maybe even a bit low.

#27 1 year ago

I agree that RS is completely underrated and the build quality on these older games are better than new stuff and I appreciate the non licensed themes.

#28 1 year ago

Roadshow is awesome! Kids might not always think it's creepy. I agree with "keep it and buy the color dmd" comments.

#29 1 year ago

I'm glad people don't really like roadshow because I really want one and I also want to be able to afford one

This right here.

Although I just added a pinsound to mine to put specific songs into the game, and my wife kept playing the game over and over trying to keep the music going.

So that's a thought.

Road Show is an AWESOME game -- as long as you get that soren chip I think it's called? The one that randomizes the modes.

Though ColorDMD looks amazing in so many games, and the value goes up the same amount of the cost of the ColorDMD, as 2 posters mentioned above, this is unfortunately all sort of a moot conversation at the moment.

I have the Soren chip!! I thought of changing up the sound to play “Working man” by Rush at Multiball.

#34 1 year ago

I had a Road Show, great pin. My wife and guests just couldn't get into it so I sold it to fund a NIB GZ Prem I'm still waiting on.

If you're keeping it 100% ColorDMD (I had one in there and it made a huge difference), if you're selling as others have said just leave it alone. Just saw you've got the Soren chip - that changes the whole game hey?? I also agree if there was a pin that was dying to have the sounds/music changed - Road Show is it. That Carlene Carter song drove me nuts.
