Just got an email about the prototype production board being revealed and shown at PPE. I can't wait to see this in action.

Here is the link:

Obviously, price and release date will be the first questions asked on Friday.

That color DMD looks great! I imagine that somehow the DMD has to tap into and/or update the software on each pin to translate the dmd images to the appropriate color. Would this mean that each color DMD must be game specific? In other words, would something like this be interchangeable between pins? I am definitely looking forward to new info on this. Hope the pricing isn't too outrageous...

I agree with you. If pricing isn't out of reach, this is going to be huge for all of the pinball collector base.

I would really get at least one of these.

Put me down for one for my AFM

#6 12 years ago

Looks fantastic...and makes me want an afm even more

Great Update! We know that JJP is using an LCD now, and possible Stern in their future Pins will use an LCD too, but the machines that are out there now will benefit the most from this! What an awesome update and what a fantastic product!

This is very cool indeed. The only downside is if they have to write custom software for each pin, I think it will be a pretty slow rollout. It kind of makes me want to pick up an AFM though. Anyone got a nice one for sale in the 2-3K range?

That is so cool! This is something Stern should have done ages ago.

Can't wait to throw one in my AFM....if i can afford it

#11 12 years ago

Very cool, But worthless without the roms to support it!

Hopefully it doubles as a straight monochrome replacement for all games. I have a couple DMDs that are starting to go bad, even without color support I would go for an LCD version over the plasma version (assuming lower heat and energy).

Exciting for sure!

Crossing fingers that it might work for the super dmd sega games! it would be nice to have an alternative to the 500 dollar replacements

I will check it out in person on Friday at the Pacific Pinball EXPO.

#15 12 years ago

Long overdue, I can't wait to see it in person this weekend.

To quote terrable "wow"

I think once the price is revealed all the interest will go out the door, with the custom board, lcd screen and programming I may be wrong but bet its going to be 500+
