Am I really the first person to comment on the image recently posted to Color DMD's Facebook page? Wow.

Yes, it's a week away from the Super Bowl, so they could just be celebrating the big game, but they do have a habit of dropping hints to their next release.

NFL?
Apollo 13?
Twilight (end)Zone?

Let the speculation begin!

Screen_Shot_2016-01-31_at_9.14.49_PM_(resized).png

List of yet-to-be-colorized games, updated 10/14/2021

STERN (10 games)
24; Harley Davidson; Heavy Metal; KISS; NBA; NFL; Sharkey's Shootout; Striker Extreme; The Rolling Stones; Wrestle-mania

SEGA (3 games)
Harley Davidson; The X-files; Viper Night Drivin'

CAPCOM (2 games)
Airborne, Flipper Football

ALVIN G (3 games)
Al's Garage Band goes on a World Tour; Mystery Castle; Pistol Poker

PREMIER/GOTTLIEB (14 games)
Barb Wire; Cue Ball Wizard; Frank Thomas' Big Hurt; FREDDY, Nightmare on Elm Street; Gladiators; Mario Andretti; Rescue 911; Shaq Attack; Street Fighter II; Super Mario Bros.; Tee'd Off; Waterworld; Wipe Out; World Challenge Soccer

SPOOKY (1 Game):
America's Most Haunted

112 games colorized, 33 games to go!

#5 5 years ago

Maybe in reference to a certain New York giant (Godzilla)?
Or CHAMPION pub for the Championship game?
Or because so many people were TEE'D OFF by how last year's game turned out?
Party Zone (which, besides being another "zone" , calls its outlanes "end zones")?

#8 5 years ago

Aha! Yet another "zone" - the Danger Zone!

TZ for sure.

#19 5 years ago

Battlezone. A theme is definitely emerging.

Screen_Shot_2016-02-01_at_8.36.53_AM_(resized).png

#23 5 years ago

That would be hilarious - teasing "zone-zone-zone" when TZ is one of the most-anticipated releases and then revealing that it's Party Zone. You'd hear the screaming from TZ owners miles away.

A small part of me kinda wants it to happen.

#34 5 years ago
Quoted from iwantansi:

Its obvious its Captain Fantastic

Top Card FTW.

#39 5 years ago

The latest clue: Powerball
Looks like this clinches TZ as the next title!

Screen_Shot_2016-02-03_at_8.33.02_AM_(resized).png

#51 5 years ago

Here's the promo video:

#52 5 years ago

With Twilight Zone done, what's the next "most-anticipated Color DMD release?" In other words, when the next title is announced, everyone will be disappointed that it's not ____.

A few guesses:

- The Walking Dead
- Jurassic Park
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Bram Stoker's Dracula
- Spider-Man

#56 5 years ago
Quoted from DeathHimself:

I think with the code not yet complete and maybe the absence of a few new animations for the TWD we are probably months away from seeing that one, but I think BSD would look awesome in color.
Oh and Family Guy is way over due, that game screams for color just like TSPP did.

Agreed - Family Guy will look great and I'm eager for Rocky and Bullwinkle to get colorized as well, even though it left my collection a while ago. Cartoon themes are made for this.

On a different thread, someone calculated that all DMD titles will get colorized within about four years if ColorDMD keeps up its current pace. So no matter what we're all hoping for, the wait doesn't look too bad. Personally I'm hoping for Junk Yard, but it's an uncommon game and I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of the last.

1 week later
#64 5 years ago

Another clue already? Wow!

Apollo 13?

Didn't Art Carney's character work in the sewers? Maybe my dreams of a colorized Junk Yard are coming true?

Bram Stoker's Dracula?

Dark Knight?

Data East Star Wars?

POTC? (Because moonlight was a thing in the first movie.)

Family Guy? (Which is sort of an animated Honeymooners.)

Screen_Shot_2016-02-15_at_8.51.11_AM_(resized).png

#66 5 years ago
Quoted from yzfguy:

I will be so bored if POTC actually comes out.... Nothing to bitch about!

You'll just have to get a Tron or a BSD.

#67 5 years ago

Clue #2. This one's getting weird.

Ralph drove a bus. There's a bus in Junk Yard.

Any ideas?

Screen_Shot_2016-02-15_at_1.24.08_PM_(resized).png

#74 5 years ago
Quoted from shovelhed:

I guess i will have to keep waiting on spidy.
Junkyard seems like the one.

But a photo of George Sandford would make more sense. I'm really just grasping for ideas and doing some wishful thinking.

Quoted from shlockdoc:

That's the raccoon lodge above?

Correct, and I don't know of any machines that have raccoons in them. But maybe the epaulets point to a nautical theme? Yzfguy, this might be your moment!

Edit: Viper: Night Driving has a raccoon?

#76 5 years ago

Viper: Night Drivin' does have a raccoon (two, in fact)! I've never seen this game in person.

Screen_Shot_2016-02-15_at_1.45.59_PM_(resized).png

#77 5 years ago

The latest: Art Carney as Ed Norton. They're really running with this Honeymooners thing.

Art Carney... CARNEY... circus?

Hurricaine?
Circus Voltaire?

Screen_Shot_2016-02-16_at_10.42.04_AM_(resized).png

OH WAIT!

It says "CLU", not "CLUE".

Tron fans - get ready for a seismic announcement.

#84 5 years ago

For a second I thought the character Ed Norton was a reference to actor Edward Norton, but there's no pin based on his movies. Unless there's a Fight Club, Italian Job or Birdman machine that escaped my notice.

Sometimes these clues point to a designer or programmer, rather than a title. Is there someone in pinball named Gleason, Carney, Kramden, Norton, Meadows, Randolph...?

#86 5 years ago

Mind blown.

#121 5 years ago

Confirmed!

Congrats, Tron owners!

Screen_Shot_2016-02-17_at_8.37.26_AM_(resized).png

#122 5 years ago

The video is up!

#123 5 years ago

A new clue went up recently on Facebook:

"He's so happy that ColorDMD will be back in stock soon and is announcing another title."

[photo of STTNG's Lt. Data laughing. I'm away from my computer and can't do a copy/paste right now. Little help?]

STTNG was done a while ago. Any ideas? Stern's Star Trek might be too obvious. Something robot-related like Transformers? Perhaps this is their way of saying that they're releasing the first DATA EAST title! Fingers crossed for Bullsie!

#125 5 years ago

Confirmed? If so, Hooray for GnR! It should be amazing.
But I was hoping for a little more mystery and suspense.

#130 5 years ago

You guys beat me to it - Hulk Hogan flexing = "guns". Can't wait to see what the clue will be for "roses."

#132 5 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

Hulk Hogan showing his biceps (in other words... guns).
So, Data East plus guns = GNR ?

Maybe. JP, LAH and LW3 are also gun-related DE pins, but GNR is a likely candidate.

#139 5 years ago

Today's clue: two photos of Rose Byrne.

Data (East)
Guns
Roses

Seems pretty clear - Congrats GNR owners!

#141 5 years ago

Confirmed!

#143 5 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

Are you doing an impersonation of a sloth?

Ha! I'm on vacation this week and checking in on my iPad whenever I can.

#144 5 years ago

The video looks sweet!

#146 5 years ago
Quoted from Darscot:

Color looks great but the dots in general don't look great on a GnR. As it seems a popular pin I expected a little more.

Color improves any game, but I think you're right - there's not a lot to work with on this one. Maybe the band portraits could have used some more shading. But they got the dark red color of the logo exactly right!

#147 5 years ago

Screen_Shot_2016-03-11_at_2.06.49_PM_(resized).png

#148 5 years ago

It's only a week since their last release and we're getting more hints! Of course the early hints are obscure, but I have two theories:

Batman
Cartman
Law man
... Spider-Man?

-or-

Batman
South Park
Dirty Harry

= B.S.D.

#155 5 years ago
Quoted from dug:

So are you saying that Randy is the real "El Nino" ?

The El Nino of specialty pinball electronics.

#176 5 years ago
Quoted from Ramjet:

Adam WEST
SOUTH Park
Clint EASTwood

YES! Love it. Great thinking!

I'm reasonably certainthat it's not Whirlwind.

#178 5 years ago

Clue #2: Billie Burke fills in the missing "North". But let's not close the book yet - the clue does say "misdirection."

Screen_Shot_2016-03-12_at_3.33.58_PM_(resized).png

#189 5 years ago

Final clue: Ralph from Happy Days. But "the other guy" was his buddy Potsie.

Or, if you prefer, "POTC."

ARRRGH! Congrats, all you pirates!

Screen_Shot_2016-03-13_at_12.27.19_PM_(resized).png

#203 5 years ago
Quoted from Eryeal:

Except for one important aspect - when was the last time Stern shipped a pinball machine with completed code? That has to be done first before ColorDMD. For that reason alone, this will never happen.

Aw, SNAP! Stern burn!

#205 5 years ago

Officially confirmed! And the screenshots look pretty good!

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/colordmd-aargh-game-36-be-ere

#206 5 years ago

They said it couldn't be done!

Color DMD has announced a new RGB LED panels, making Circus Voltaire (and, presumably, large-format Sega screens) possible!

Looks like CV is one of the two games they'll be previewing in Texas.

Screen_Shot_2016-03-15_at_2.53.22_PM_(resized).png

1 month later
#208 5 years ago

Hooray! The clues are back!

Early guesses:

- Sounds like film noir or mobster lingo. Maybe WhoDunnit or Sopranos?
- X-Files and CSI are all about keeping and uncovering secrets.
- He looks like a big yellow ball. Maybe Cue Ball Wizard or Tee'd Off?

As far as I know, no DMD games have zipper flippers.

Screen_Shot_2016-04-24_at_8.58.15_PM_(resized).png

#217 5 years ago

You beat me to the post!

I see it now - zippermouth emoji is "Dumb" (i.e. "mute") and this kid with headphones is "Deaf". I expect the third will represent "Blind."

#219 5 years ago

There it is - "blind." And a blind wizard at that.
The "there has to be a twist" remark clinches it - congrats, Tommy owners!

Screen_Shot_2016-04-25_at_3.37.48_PM_(resized).png

#225 5 years ago
Quoted from yzfguy:

LOL...I almost feel the urge to buy a non colorized game just to campaign for it

You can root for Junk Yard along with me - I'm sure it's years away.

#227 5 years ago

It's official! I'm excited to see the video.

Screen_Shot_2016-04-28_at_7.29.43_AM_(resized).png

1 week later
#228 5 years ago

It's on again, you guys.

Maybe Independence Day (because of the whole Paxton/Pullman thing)?
Perhaps AMH, being another Heck creation?

Any ideas?

Screen_Shot_2016-05-11_at_8.42.55_AM_(resized).png

#230 5 years ago
Quoted from OldSchoolBlood:

Here is Paxton in Terminator 1. Maybe T2 or T3...

Good thinking - I forgot about those!
Paxton was also in Twister and Appllo 13.

Could it be Alien? Would they colorize a game that hasn't been released yet?

#237 5 years ago

A hedgehog? It looks like we're in for a colorized Sega game!

Twister and Apollo 13 are looking more likely.

Screen_Shot_2016-05-11_at_3.19.03_PM_(resized).png

#240 5 years ago

It'll be ColorDMD's 38th title.

#242 5 years ago

No third clue this time - congrats Apollo 13 owners!

Screen_Shot_2016-05-16_at_11.42.28_AM_(resized).png

1 week later
#249 5 years ago

We got a new one!

Two games with tigers (TOM and TOTAN) have already been done. Are there any more?

The expression is "In like a lamb, out like a lion." Are there games that have lions? Or sheep/ewes/lambs?

Screen_Shot_2016-05-23_at_1.23.01_PM_(resized).png

#253 5 years ago

Doesn't Circus Voltaire have a lion tamer? Maybe they're ready to announce it officially.

Other initial ideas (which are usually wrong):

- A zoo theme could point to Jurassic Park or Lost World.
- Rocky & Bullwinkle has a lion.
- The expression refers to spring weather - maybe Hurricane?

Sadly, I can't thing of any connection this clue has to Junk Yard.

#259 5 years ago

Maybe we need to focus on the month aspect of these clues?

Rocky & Bullwinkle has a lion and daisies. And a rain storm during the tri-ball animation. Could it be?

Screen_Shot_2016-05-23_at_9.09.18_PM_(resized).png

#261 5 years ago

I think Congo now holds the title of "most-anticipated Color DMD release."

#272 5 years ago

For reference, here's a list of games yet to be colorized, borrowed from LABNIP's "ColorDMD Plans for 2016" thread:

STERN (34 games)
24; Austin Powers; Avatar; Batman; Big Buck Hunter; CSI; Elvis; Family Guy; Game of Thrones; Ghostbusters; Harley Davidson; High Roller Casino; Indiana Jones; KISS; Mustang; Nascar/Dale Jr.; NBA; NFL; Playboy; Ripley's; Rollercoaster Tycoon; Sharkey's Shootout; Shrek; Spider-Man; Spider-Man VE; Star Trek; Striker Extreme; Terminator 3; The Rolling Stones; The Sopranos; Transformers; Walking Dead; Wheel of Fortune; Wrestlemania

SPOOKY (1 Game):
America's Most Haunted

Half sized DMD games:
Checkpoint, TMNT, Batman, Star Trek, Hook

#288 5 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

Amy spells May when you rearrange the letters.

ANAGRAMS! I like that theory a lot. Maybe the next clue will have something to do with diamonds or Tim Curry.

#298 5 years ago
Quoted from Ed209:

New clue...
Last clue for game 39. One stern "little" wizard ruled them all.

You beat me to the post by only 6 minutes!
This clue throws me completely off. Mentioning "stern" makes me think it's now a Stern title, which rules out R&B and Congo. LOTR has been done. Ian McKellen wasn't in Congo...

#304 5 years ago
Quoted from CryHavoc:

It's Sopranos. That doll is Gandalf. James Gandolfini played Tony Soprano, the mob boss who "ruled them all". The suffix "ini' in italian means "little". "Gandalf (Gandolf)"+ "ini"= little wizard.

I like this!
But how do the first two clues fit?

Edit: I just saw your edit. "Tony the Tiger" of course!

#306 5 years ago

Re the 2nd clue: Meadow Soprano was Tony's daughter.

#327 5 years ago

H'raaaaay!
Good job, team, for working out the correct answer! And good job ColorDMD marketing team for a fun and challenging set of clues!

And congratulations to Sopranos owners!

Screen_Shot_2016-05-25_at_10.09.38_AM_(resized).png

#334 5 years ago
Quoted from Taxman:

I don't like Congo so I need to counter your boycott. I am going to continue buying ColorDMDs "until" they put out Congo.

Say, Taxman, are you working on one right now? You don't have to give a title (but I see you own a Junk Yard).

#336 5 years ago

It's less of a clue than an announcement, but this happened yesterday...

Screen_Shot_2016-05-31_at_7.50.32_AM_(resized).png

#337 5 years ago

Churning them out at a mad pace. The next clue is up!

A reference to he hills of the Congo?
Something about Big Buck Hunter?

Barb Wire and Stern Playboy seem a little too on the nose.

Screen_Shot_2016-06-04_at_2.26.01_PM_(resized).png

#338 5 years ago

I just remembered that David Duchovny was in season 2 of "Twin Peaks." Maybe The X-Files is up?

#344 5 years ago

Next clue: Leia and Luke. "What were you expecting?"

Famous pairs? Siblings? Again, this is too on the nose to be DESW.
Any ideas about how this relates to clue #1?

Screen_Shot_2016-06-06_at_8.59.11_AM_(resized).png

#347 5 years ago
Quoted from PinballManiac40:

Aren't they twins?

Yes! Both clues are about twins - good job!

Maybe they're releasing the "twin" games Family Guy and Shrek?

ed: the written part of the clues feature words starting with EX - "expo" and "expect." Maybe that's something to consider?

#361 5 years ago

Hmmm...
This new clue doesn't seem to add any new information (except to rule out Mario Brothers).

I thought it might be Big Hurt, but Frank Thomas played for the White Sox, not the Minnesota Twins.
Family Guy and Shrek seems like a logical answer (except they've never released to at once before).
Maybe it's Jackbot - the playfield "twin" of Pinbot?

#371 5 years ago

I think they've stumped us - Hopefully we'll have an answer tomorrow.
I have a feeling we're all overthinking this and it's Barb Wire after all.

#380 5 years ago

Sweet! The news didn't even hit Facebook yet. The images look awesome. Congrats, Spider-Man owners!

#383 5 years ago
Quoted from PinballManiac40:

Holy Crap!! SMVE also released. Wow!! These games are getting pounded out this year.

#394 5 years ago

Time for another new release! Here's the first clue:

Ideas:

- It's ColorDMD's 42nd release, so there's that.
- 42 refers to Jackie Robinson, so maybe Batman Forever (Robin/Robinson?)
- Maybe Last Action Hero (Jackie/Jack Slater)?
- I think Big Hurt is the only baseball-related pin in need of a ColorDMD
- 42 is "24" backwards.

Any other ideas?

Screen_Shot_2016-06-27_at_6.13.03_PM_(resized).png

#397 5 years ago

42 is Fox Mulder's apartment number on The X-Files.

#411 5 years ago

That house is waaaaay bigger than Graceland. The story of Batman could be considered an "American legend." The new Color LCD's would have to be used.

Stern Playboy is a good guess. The mansion fits and it's an iconic American brand.

#412 5 years ago

GUYS!

I just did a reverse image search - that is, in fact, the Playboy Mansion.

#418 5 years ago
Quoted from Grinder901:

Come on man. That's too easy. He's never that blatant

I know, right? It has me going back to the list of games on Page 6 to try to match titles with the clues.

But maybe they know we're looking for something more esoteric and deliberately threw in a blatant clue to throw us off?

Quoted from Grinder901:

Hey you think that mouse cursor placed over the fountain in the second clue is significant?

It's pointing to a shrubbery, which means we can all be 100% sure that it's Congo.

#423 5 years ago

Austin Powers could be called a "playboy." (But he was a Brit portrayed by a Canadian.)

#427 5 years ago
Quoted from gliebig:

4x2 =8. Big Stone house.....
Congo.

An anagram of "MANSION" is "SINAMON" pronounced the same as "cinnamon," which comes from Madagascar, which is in Africa. Congo.

Outta nowhere! I guess Batman is an "American Legend" who lives in a mansion? Or something?

Anyhoo, congrats BDK owners! It looks awesome.

Someday, Grinder.

I'll root for Elvis if you help me root for Junk Yard.

#479 5 years ago
Quoted from Taxman:

Junk Yard would be cool. But one of the color guys has to have access to one and there don't seem to be a lot of them.

... says the DMD colorist who owns a Junk Yard.

#506 5 years ago

They've been releasing new titles about every two weeks, which means another should be coming along shortly. But I suspect they'll wait on this next one, so they can make an announcement at ReplayFX next week.

#508 5 years ago
Quoted from PinballManiac40:

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/colordmd-previews-new-led-displays/page/3#post-3253739
Well, hopefully we will be seeing the LED display shortly as Randy stated on #post 137.

They showed off the CV LED display at the Texas show a few months ago but it looks like ReplayFX might be the official release!

#514 5 years ago

Twister is an interesting guess.
RCT might be a bit too literal.
We know Circus Voltaire is coming soon.

But most importantly, how can we twist this clue to be about Congo?

#519 5 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

I like how you think!
The amazing storyline of the movie is like a rollercoaster of emotion.

Let's see...

Roller coaster
Amusement park
Jurassic Park
Michael Crichton
Congo

-or-

Roller coaster
Rock & roll
Rocky Horror
Tim Curry
Congo

Seriously, though, Jurassic Park wouldn't be a bad guess at this point and they could be playing off a pun for High "Roller" Casino.

#530 5 years ago

Oh! Well, there it is.
Looks like they've successfully lulled us into the expectation of esoteric clues and then dropped a literal one to surprise us.

Congrats, RCT owners! It's a fun game made even better now in color!

It's here it's here! And $30 cheaper than an LCD! Looks like it supports G&R and Tommy at the moment - no sign of CV just yet.

Now I can't wait for the "should I get LCD or LED?" posts and the angry arguments that follow.

Wha?! Dropping new titles without fanfare? I hope they haven't given up on teasing us with clues.

#597 5 years ago

New clue!

Well, the connection there seems to be "Clay" - Cassius Clay and McQueen's character in Soldier in the Rain, "Sgt. Eustis Clay."

#626 5 years ago

12 hours ago I was 100% sure it was Congo and now I have no idea. We need a third clue to bring everything into focus.

Here's another idea that ties the two clues together: Ali was called "The Greatest of All Time" and Gleason was called "The Great One."

Does that help anyone?

#635 5 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

well Congo is pretty much the greatest JohnT game of all time.

Oops! I think you mis-spelled "CFTBL."

Boxer
Buddies

BBB = Big Bang Bar

Honestly, I have no idea.

I figured it out... Look at the last clue.... It's a give away for the game!

Please don't tell me it's Rescue 911. #inappropriate

#690 5 years ago

Time for another wild, absurd guess:

1. Ali is from Louisville, KY, home of Louisville Slugger.
2. Adam West has a small role in "Soldier in the Rain."
3. Philippe Petit is an acroBAT.

So... Data East Batman?

#727 5 years ago
Quoted from Air_Pinball:

You forgot DE Batman.

It's listed under "Half Sized DMD games."

#736 5 years ago

After making last three sets of clues way too easy, they made this one impossibly difficult.

Were we really supposed to get "Tie Fighter" from Ali wearing a tie?
"Soldier in the Rain" = "Storm Trooper". I get that one.
What was the last one? "Imperial Walker?" I still don't understand.

ed: "Skywalker." Okay, that's fair.

But let's focus on the positive: More color in pinball!! Congrats, DESW owners! Between this and the revised code, you have a great game on your hands!

It looks like - at the moment - the most-anticipated Color DMD releases are:

1. Congo
2. Family Guy
3. Walking Dead

It's been noted that Star Trek is a challenge to colorize, so it might take a while. But I wouldn't be surprised if Jurassic Park,T2 and BSD were in the works, just because those are really popular titles.

It's been noted that at their current pace, ColorDMD will have all titles colorized within four or five years. I look forward to the frustrated posts that read "JEEZ, WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO RELEASE MARIO ANDRETTI??!!!" and "WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET SPACE JAM!!!"

#771 5 years ago

Hard to believe it's coming up on a month since the last Color DMD release! I'm ready for a new clue. This time, I'm determined to remember:

1. Don't try to make the clues fit the game you want.
2. Solutions are often based on puns or wordplay.
3. Gottlieb, Capcom and Sega games are the least likely.

#779 5 years ago
Quoted from volkdrive:

Still holding out for FG. Lois is sweet and Peter is simple

Quoted from Whysnow:

A M Y likes flowers!

Quoted from mark9:

Look at the flowers Lizzie...

That's not how puns work.

Quoted from DCFAN:

Cactus canyon... It is a cactus flower.
But...that is probably too simple knowing the history of the clues for other games.

You're right - that does appear to be a cactus flower, and Cactus Canyon is a bit on the nose.

Okay! No word about this yet on Facebook, but congrats Cactus Canyon owners!

Welcome to the "Color DMD Hints" thread - now with 20% less whining!

#888 4 years ago

Hooray! New clue!

CaryCarmichael's Family Ties/Family Guy connection seems plausible, especially since colorized FG showed up at Expo.

But the clues are seldom direct, so my first thought is to ask what DMD games feature time machines.

Rocky & Bullwinkle
Junk Yard
Austin Powers

Any others?

#898 4 years ago

New clue is up and I can't do a screenshot - someone please post the photo of Rob Reiner!

Family Ties
All in the Family

It's lookin' good for you, MK6PIN.

#920 4 years ago
Quoted from Rondogg:

Michael J Fox was in Family Ties. His Sister on the show (Mallory) dated a guy Nick who made sculptures out of GARBAGE.
Wheel of Fortune, obv

Sounds like a better argument for Junk Yard.

#940 4 years ago
Quoted from Pinballgeek:

Jaleel white was in a film called megashark vs crocosaurus
You know who else was in Megashark vs crocosaurus , Robert Picardo
Picardo appeared in Star Trek Voyager as Dr. Lewis Zimmerman
In the episode Flashback in voyager , the film star trek VI plays a pivotal role.
Star Trek VI has leonard nimoy.
Star Trek (2009) and into darkness (2013) also stars Leonard Nimoy.
Its Stern Star Trek.
3 of the hints have connections to star trek

Family Ties, All in the Family and Family Matters were all mainly set in homes. Homes have garages. Clearly, the only logical conclusion is Al's Garage Band.

Thank God! I don't have to hear about Family Guy anymore!!

Amen! From here on out we'll just have to listen to moaning about TWD and Star Trek!

#985 4 years ago
Quoted from Taxman:

We are just joking about the number. Popeye is one of those games that gets trashed so often people don't like to admit they like it, but many do and quite a few put a ColorDMD in theirs. The game has great dots, rules and humor. When you are used to the game the awkward layout does not matter anymore.
My beta-tester had a ColorDMD already installed in his game before I even colored. That shows a love for the game.

Don't know if you saw this yet - there's a new video of your work in action.

Wow an announcement and no MK6pin screaming for Family Guy
Christmas has come early!

Let's hope it IS The Walking Dead so those folks stop guessing it every time a new clue comes up.

(It's probably not TWD. I like Sethman's BSD guess best because it's the type of lateral thinking that we've seen from ColorDMD in the past.)

#1096 4 years ago

Hooray! Congrats in advance, BSD owners! I know this was a long-awaited title and I can't wait to see the preview. The wavy mist multiball animation should be especially cool.

STERN (27 games)
24; Austin Powers; Avatar; Big Buck Hunter; CSI; Elvis; Game of Thrones; Ghostbusters; Harley Davidson; High Roller Casino; Indiana Jones; KISS; Mustang; Nascar/Dale Jr.; NBA; NFL; Playboy; Ripley's; Sharkey's Shootout; Shrek; Star Trek; Striker Extreme; The Rolling Stones; Transformers; Walking Dead; Wheel of Fortune; Wrestle-mania

New clue!

Looks like the Blue Moon beer factory. Perhaps Champion Pub is up next?

#1167 4 years ago
Quoted from Rondogg:

There were no boxes of beer at JURASSIC PARK.

Nor is there beer in Junk Yard. But life pushes on.

#1199 4 years ago

At this point, I'm thinking Avatar - Blue Moon for the movie's blue aliens and I think WOOLY has a Pandora mode, which is also the name of the planet in Avatar.

Also, Pandora might be a moon, not a planet. Can't remember offhand.

#1207 4 years ago

It took me about 15 seconds. I saw the clue and thought "why a photo of Aurich?" Then I realized, duh, it's his... Avatar! So is Aurich the colorist on this one or did they just pick a familiar face?

Congrats in advance, Avatar owners!

Quoted from Whysnow:

Any chance of Godzilla getting color treatment? Looks like it would fit no problem.
I know it is a lower production run, but what a great set of animations.

I thought there was an issue with fitting the ColorDMD units into the Sega marquis-style backboxes.

#1268 4 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

Godzilla is same as Southpark as far as I can tell???
Should be zero issue.

My mistake - I thought it had one of those rounded "showcase" translites like Space Jam or Starship Troopers. My understanding is that there's a low support strut that gets in the way of ColorDMD's screens.

HOORAY! First clue of the new year!

Obvious first impressions: Harley Davidson, Nascar, Mustang, Corvette, No Fear, Viper Night Drivin', Indy 500

Lateral thinking: Wheel of Fortune, Transformers

Pure wishful thinking: Junk Yard (which features a skidding bus animation)

#1332 4 years ago
Quoted from PinballManiac40:

Key is the "?". Since when have all the hints been directly related to the game?

F'real, you guys.

Quoted from snakesnsparklers:

Ratchet?
Guardians of the Galaxy?
That's all I'm gettin out of this clue. If it was referring to Arnold holding the minigun, why say "I am groot?"

Isn't there a ratchet animation in Corvette (or am I thinking of Mustang)?

#1346 4 years ago
Quoted from Mudflaps:

I sold Mustang a while back, but when you collect tools at the end of a ball, I'm pretty sure one of them was a ratchet. I could be mistaken. Either way, it's an automotive tool.
And diesel ties in to the fact that if you put diesel fuel in a Mustang, the engine will explode.

Mustang seems like the most logical solution so far. I was thinking of this ratchet animation in the Toolbox feature.

Screen Shot 2017-01-23 at 8.42.03 PM (resized).png

#1354 4 years ago
Quoted from Irishbastard:

What's the hold up with ST? If it's Mustang before ST I just don't get it....Hope that's a dam Klingon with a Gatling gun

Quoted from pinlawyer:

Dammit! It is TF. Blech. BTW, the order of games isn't determined by Randy, so much as the collections of the people doing the colorizations. Plus, we all want TWD and Star Trek. That's no secret. But if updates are likely, as with ST (I think it's getting one more), it's going to have to wait.

Star Trek has some complicated animations that would be very difficult to colorize - for example, a spinner rip causes scores to display in random clusters on the DMD - so it's taking a while for them to figure out.

Also, code updates shouldn't be a factor - Metallica was colorized before its most recent programming update and ColorDMD simply updated their code to match. Most code updates don't add new animations anyway, just logic, scoring changes and sometimes sounds.

#1363 4 years ago

I think Apollyon nailed it.

Skids, Rachet, Bumblebee... Transformers!

I got to spend some time on a TF not long ago and developed an appreciation for the flow and rule set. It's not a perfect game (in a lot of ways) but it is fun and under appreciated for what it is.

#1369 4 years ago

Transformers owners... Roll out!
ColorDMD has officially announced the next title! Congrats, TF owners!
Remember, color makes all pins better!

Let the moaning from ST and TWD owners begin anew!

Thinking outside the box (for those of you who are locked into it being either TWD or GOT):

A reverse image search showed that this does, in fact, depict a scene from the Game of Thrones book series, showing Robert Baratheon vs Rhaegar Targaryen at the Battle of Trident.

The Baratheon Sigil is a stag - maybe indicating Big Buck Hunter?
"Trident" puts me in mind of a nautical theme like Baywatch or Sharkey's Shootout.
The knight on the right is about to make a punishing blow with his ax - maybe Striker Extreme?

Putting up a painting of Game of Thrones to tease the release of Game of Thrones isn't ColorDMD's style. I'm sure this won't make sense until the 2nd and 3rd clues are posted.

#1390 4 years ago
Quoted from dmbjunky:

Have you ever seen a Sharkey's Shootout? That isn't nautical themed.

I know, it's a billiards theme. Again, thinking outside the box.

#1407 4 years ago
Quoted from GravitaR:

Every Low Dollar pin colored brings in more sales for ColorDMD, win - win.

And it probably raises the demand (and, therefore the prices) for sellers.

Axe, gun, crossbow... Looks like it might be Walking Dead after all!

#1451 4 years ago

I've just updated the yet-to-be-colorized list on post 1 and have a question for the group:

Does Sega Harley Davidson have different animations than Stern Harley Davidson? I've never played either, but know that they spanned the transition when Sega became Stern. Aren't they basically the same game?

#1489 4 years ago

I predict that Wheel of Fortune will get colorized before any Gottlieb game.

#1519 4 years ago

A new clue is up!

Looks like Jonesy the cat from Alien.

Screen Shot 2017-02-16 at 2.09.35 PM (resized).png

Alien pinball is too on the nose. Maybe Indiana Jones(y)? Or a reference to other alien movies like Independence Day or Starship Troopers? Or maybe the Sigourney Weaver reference points to Ghostbusters?
