Quoted from PinballManiac40:Not with another game code release still lingering.
Why not, DMD can always update their code.
Quoted from EricHadley:I would be so excited my head would explode if it really is Star Trek!!!!!!
I have my Color DMD screen in, just waiting for the code. I wonder what the color LED screen would look like in this title.
Quoted from MK6PIN:LCD locked and loaded....
Oh but the LED is sooooo nice and bright.
Quoted from MK6PIN:Agreed...but sitting right next to my TSPP, if I open that door I could be doomed....
I have the LCD in Met Pro right next to the LED in T3 and like the look of them side by side. But the Met sure looks washed out compared to the T3.
Quoted from MK6PIN:I too, am a Hi Res guy, and man, I really don't want to see them side by side if the LED smokes it......already filled my machines with LCD's
must not be tempted, must not be tempted....
Well you aint comin over to my house anytime soon then.
Quoted from InfiniteLives:Bat rhymes with GAT - galactic away team shot = Star Trek
Now THAT'S a stretch.
Quoted from MK6PIN:Ok, my self imposed 1 page whining/ request ban has expired...my final need (for now).....WCS94 PLEASE!!!!
I thought you said it was 4 pages.
Quoted from MK6PIN:I've been avoiding you like the plague, btw....your leg light ups look badass, but if I do one.......
WOW really? But they look soooo purdy....OH look at all the purdy lights.
Quoted from MK6PIN:That's precisely the problem.....think I'd put them on the front two legs of all my machines...you do the shooter rod housings too, right? Shit...pm me the 9 pin discount rate ( what is wrong with me).....
Will do. Beatmaster makes the shooter housing light up.
Quoted from Dmod:My magic-8 ball came up "Signs Point to Yes."
Well then time for another "hint".
Quoted from TopMoose:It took me about 15 seconds. I saw the clue and thought "why a photo of Aurich?" Then I realized, duh, it's his... Avatar! So is Aurich the colorist on this one or did they just pick a familiar face?
Congrats in advance, Avatar owners!
Oh man ....don't tell me I HAVE TO buy ANOTHER one.
Quoted from snakesnsparklers:Avatar was correct. This one was pretty easy as of the second and third clues IMO. Looks like this will be a nice one, very complicated and it was 3 years in the making!
Now my LE will REALLY be bling'd out. Now for the critical choice LED or LCD.
Quoted from Rarehero:No - but they look great with Dots or DotsXL. They look great with LED displays, too. I put an LED in my Tron last nite. At first I wasn't feeling it - it was too dark ...but I bumped the contrast up from 5 to 7, and wow, it sings!!! The colors are super vivid and the video footage looks really awesome. Remember, dots are a style...that style looks better than trying fake it and take it away with smoothing. Smoothing just makes it look like blurry movie footage. Dots looks like stylized movie footage (and looks more like the movie IMO)
I have an LED in my T3 and really like it and am leaning that way for Avatar cuz in the movie the colors are so vivid and the LED would REALLY bring them out.
Quoted from BlueIrocGuy:Mustang has a burnout animation in the match sequence.
Yup....it's Mustang for sure.
Quoted from Tuna_Delight:As a Mustang owner as well as the above, I will triple moan.
Me too.
Quoted from Meegis:I'm still waiting for the day the clues mean literally nothing. Just a picture posted at random to mess with all of us and BAM new release.
They don't explain it, just happens.
That would REALLY mess peoples minds.
Quoted from TopMoose:Hooray! Congrats at long last, Walking Dead owners!
They are gonna sell a bunch of these, congrats TWD owners.
Quoted from PinballManiac40:Sorry!! What can I say...I'm addicted to color.
Then you should get my mod for all your games. I'm waiting for Mustang, GREAT animations on that game.
Quoted from Tuna_Delight:Mustang's DMD will look very cool indeed in color!
There's 2 sold....right.
Quoted from epthegeek:I'm not sure enough people own Mustang to bother. Heeeeyyooooooooo.
Quoted from TopMoose:It's official, hooray!
Congrats to all the SafeCracker owners. Man they are really cranking these things out. Maybe Mustang some time soon.
Quoted from PinballManiac40:Going on 5 weeks since the last release. Looking forward to another one soon.
Yeah we should have had our first clue by now. Oh well I'll guess BOP.
Quoted from Meegis:Bop doesn't have a DMD.
My must have gone right over your head. I've got a BOP remember.
Quoted from Agent_Hero:Clues have become extinct. It's Jurassic Park. Cool.
Now THAT'S a clever guess.
Quoted from Pinzap:Complicated animations = takes longer
Takes longer = more time between releases
Clearly ST !!!
ST....yeah baby....or Mustang.
Quoted from TopMoose:I guess this rules out NBA Fastbreak. For the moment, it's looking to me like Corvette.
Oh if it was Corvette before Mustang I would just puke.
Quoted from PinMonk:Almost, but not quite. Addams + Playboy is indeed AP, meaning Austin Powers as any simpleton can deduce, HOWEVER, the trail does not end there. Austin Powers has a toilet prominently featured, so this is quite clearly leading us to the color DMD for Game of Thrones.
What the hell.
Quoted from PinballManiac40:Who else stuck by their email, Facebook and Pinside hoping to see the new ColorDMD release as I was hoping to?
Not me. I'm stickin money hand over fist into the Mustang to get it finished. I've got 4 Color DMD's so that's enough for a while, but I just wish they would finish the color for my ST Pro.
Quoted from Taxman:I'm not sure. This PITA was about 2 years in the making. By the end of about a year I was banging my head off the wall trying to over come some of the junk that came with it being an early implementation of new technology. Randy and Chris could not help at the time because they were buried in too many other things. Think about what was going on at ColorDMD in the last 2 years. Colorizing games that needed more memory like Spiderman and the VE edition. Developing (and getting manufacturing) for the Chroma LED version. Supporting so many other projects, supply issues, and even I had some large life issues in the middle. This game spent more time on the shelf than on the bench.
To bring this home in the end Randy had to write special code into the engine. He has done a massive about of work in the last months. If I did take on another game (and if they wanted me to) I would also be back to square one learning all of the new tools. When I started most of the work I was doing was in a hex editor.
WOW!! Thanks sooooo much for not giving up. My hats off to you sir.
Quoted from DCFAN:Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends
first clue: Rocky (Mountains)
second clue:Friends
http://friends.wikia.com/wiki/Monkeyshine_Beer
The way they have done games such as Gilligans Island and such I wouldn't doubt this. My money is on this one.
Quoted from epthegeek:Gilligan ain't done, foo.
OUPS Now what game was I thinkin of.
Quoted from TopMoose:1. They're doing all DMD games eventually.
2. Game selections are made by volunteer colorists who often choose favorite games.
3. Every game is someone's favorite. Even Gilligan and Bullsie.
I know all that.
Quoted from Taxman:So ROCKY mountain Coors
Monkeyshine from FRIENDS
and MOOSE head
They re-colored RFM?
I'd buy that for a dollar.
Quoted from TopMoose:Here's a video I made of my machine back in the day. Instructions on how to play (featuring shots of the orange DMD) and a full game at 13:17 (pardon the awkward angle).
» YouTube video
That "music" would drive me insane.
Quoted from TopMoose:Hooray and congrats, Rocky & Bullwinkle owners! This is going to be spectacular. Can't wait for the video preview!
Hey how about that, I FINALLY got one right. That's gonna look great. Congrats R&B owners.
Quoted from PinMonk:Haha. It's a small community, after all.
Jackbot is on my "to get again" list. I love that game and the integrated "cheating" built into it. They did third button gameplay before anyone else on that machine.
I hope to pick up my Jackbot from the seller soon. That would look good in color but like T2 there's not much to color.
Quoted from gunstarhero:Man, I disagree. Jack*Bot has a TON of dots, especially the Multi Ball and Casino Run ramp ups! Plus it's so colorful... T2 must have been easy because it was an early DMD game, and yeah they sold 15k... but it was kind of a wasted effort vs result... IMO.
I haven't got mine yet so I guess I didn't pay close enough attention when I was playing it a while back. Sorry.
Quoted from Irishbastard:ST will come out right after I sell mine.... Without fail...
So it's all your fault then. SELL IT.
Quoted from TopMoose:Congrats, Champion Pub owners! And congrats to Taxman, who I believe was the first to guess it.
Congrats CP owners and Taxman. Looks like my money is safe again......but I sure wish someone would do Mustang.
Quoted from PinballManiac40:You saw that 'other' type of color display.
Yeah from the other guy.
Quoted from PinballManiac40:Oh, with the flooding in Houston, I need a color fix bad!! Been cooped up too long.
Your not getting flooded are you?
Quoted from PinballManiac40:Just some streets around me were flooded. A few family members and friends have water in their houses.
Your ok then that's good. I heard on NPR that as of a couple days ago the storm dumped over a trillion gallons of water on you guys, enough to fill 133 million Olympic size swimming pools , enough to cover the entire US with 1.1 inches of water. Yup you got a lot.
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:Cue lighting... (crash)
The weather starting getting rough,
the tiny ship was lost....
Who doesn't know that song by heart.
Quoted from Sinestro:Only 8 Williams titles left. They've been on a roll with Williams lately.
I hope Jackbot is coming soon but it was such a low production game it might be last of the 8.
Quoted from Sinestro:I also have to think that they have ideas for something else down the road....a new revenue generator for existing customers....some kind of newer display that will make people want to upgrade. I'd be shocked if they haven't kicked some ideas around for how to stay in business after everything is colorized.
Well those HD displays would be a good way to go but then someone would have to completly redraw everything wouldn't they.
Quoted from PinMonk:Lower than Champion Pub? Congo? World Poker Tour? I don't think the size of the run absolutely determines the order.
And Jackbot would be nice to have in color.
2450 I think, how many for the other ones. I know the size of the run doesn't matter but there are so few JB's out there compared to those that the chances of owning a JB and coloring it are pretty slim.
Quoted from PinMonk:But it's one and done, and I'm sure they could fetch a premium for high-res large format graphics (although that would require a new bezel, too) for older, popular B/W games.
I thought the HD screen was the same size as a regular dmd.
Quoted from PinMonk:In the case of AFMr, the screen on the SE and LE is about 40% bigger (wider/taller) than a regular dmd AND has re-drawn hi-res graphics. Looks fantastic.
A year or two ago I thought someone showed a HD lcd screen that was the same size as a regular dmd. They said it had 4 or 8 times the rez or something like that.
Quoted from Sinestro:ColorDMD would definitely have to license the ROMS for that, then re-draw the dots at a higher bit rate. Same as MMR.
This could be one of the options they are considering for the future.
I wonder what it take to do the dots for a new game.
Quoted from moTiv8:Finally ST, YEAH!!!
From Color DMD Facebook Site:
Amazing team effort on this long awaited title! Debuting this week at Pinball Expo! Details, previews, (and more Expo news) to follow!!!
OH MAN!!! I've had my Sigma LCD display in my Pro since forever. It's gonna be tough waiting for the software now. No mention of it on their web site and no announcement email.
Quoted from Malenko:After all that and it's not world cup hahaha haha
I've never played star trek but it seems to be very in demand for coloring. I can't wait to see it too
You haven't played it yet. You must be the last person on the planet who hasn't. Just kidding.
Quoted from hank527:Anyone think they are going to do both ST and GB?
I'm not, GB is gonna be waaaaaay off in the future.
Quoted from epthegeek:knowing that if there are big changes, they'll be on the hook for the additional work to fix things.
I don't think that Jackbot has to worry about changes.
Quoted from MK6PIN:BAMM!!! WCS....my life is now complete!!! Thank you....
Wow doesn't take much does it. Just kidding of course.
Quoted from JimB:When can you download the new Star Trek code?
Probably not till after the show. Just keep an eye on here.
Quoted from TopMoose:What's this about voting? What did I miss?
Wishful thinking.
Quoted from Flowst:Playing pinball on a monochromatic display is like watching black and white TV.
A lot of Pinsiders really can't relate to that but I sure can.
Quoted from TopMoose:I'm keeping a running tally on post 1 of this thread.
I'm hoping for Jack Bot.
Quoted from PinMonk:Given the small run, you're probably asking way too much. ColorDMD and I'd be fine.
One can dream can't one.
Quoted from TopMoose:There's a whole other topic about what titles you want colorized.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/2017-which-colordmd-do-you-want-poll-included#post-3564664
This one is about guessing what the ColorDMD Facebook clues mean.
Well we gotta do something until the next clue comes out.
Quoted from agodfrey:I was just curious if anyone has been able to get the LVDS signal converted to DVI (or HDMI/VGA) so you can put it on another monitor or in my case use it as a video source for a stream. If not maybe I should work on it. Just seems better than putting a cam on the DMD
Oh if you could do that in a plug-n-play board at a reasonable price you'd have customers lined up around the block...and I'd be first in line.
Quoted from oldskool1969:BAYWATCH chicks in colour!
WRONG...Batman Forever in color.
Quoted from PinballManiac40:And that is a bummer. I hope to pick one up at some point in time.
Yeah and here at this time I have the money. Just watch when I DON'T have the money it'll come out.
Quoted from InfiniteLives:just buy one and put it in there until its released? if you have the money now and that is what you want to have with it
I know but I want full color NOW.
Quoted from epthegeek:Apologies to everybody who was hoping for something else I just did this one because it was fun.
Hey we ALL appreciate what you do for our games. Keep on doin what your doin.
Quoted from ChadH:I am told that they can, but there is no demand for it so they are skipping this title.
Quoted from TopMoose:There's no new clue up yet. Where are you looking?
We know, just having some fun...Jacbot...jacbot...Jackbot.
Quoted from PinMonk:Seems too obvious. Usually the clues point to the obvious when it's really something else...
Quoted from boomgopinball:Jackbot!!
YES!!! I just bought the LCD version now just waiting for the code to unlock it......whenever that is, hopefully by the time my panel arrives.
Oh good thank you. My 12v/5v J16 is weak and when I hooked up the display the optos in the ball trough won't recognize the balls in it. I'll have to run the display on a seperate 12v line.
Quoted from PinballManiac40:What is your 12Vunregulated reading at TP1 on the driver board? Do you have any LED strips running off of J116? If so, I would move those to a separate 12Vunregulated (or external power supply).
All my extra 12v mods are running off an 8 way splitter board that's plugged into the 110v service outlet using a converter wall wart.
Quoted from yzfguy:Finally......Ghostbusters.
If it's GB I'm in trouble, just spent $400 for Jackbot so another $400 would REALLY hurt.
Quoted from Tuna_Delight:And I'm betting that Mustang being FINALLY available instead wouldn't help your financial situation either.
I'd be in REAL trouble then. Put the money into the Mustang game or the Mustang car. Car wins out.
Quoted from Beebl:I wonder if im on a different mailing list...mine had a typo as game 67...
Hi guys I need some help. Just installed a colordmd in my Jackbot and now the trough optos don't work, it's a known issue. I want to power the dmd with a 2 amp 12v wall wart and need to know which of the 3 wires are +. - and ground and do I need a ground wire if using a wall wart? Thanks
IMGA0744 (resized).JPGQuoted from PinMonk:Mmmm...did you clean the optos (send and receiver) and check the power level supplied to them without a ColorDMD at all? Usually it's just that the power supply needs to be rebuilt because the opto power is right on the edge and the little bit the colordmd takes pushes it over the edge. Cleaning the optos and/or rebuilding the power supply if the power is on the low side should fix your problem and is preferable to introducing a wall wart.
Do you have other mods that draw power in the machine?
The optos were cleaned a few months ago so that's not the problem, I have an OCD and a GI OCD on the game, nothing else is drawing power from the board. The game worked perfect before I put the colordmd on that's why I just put a wall wart on it. With all led in the game I should be drawing a lot less through the board.
Quoted from ScottyC:+ And - should be just fine. If there's a ground strap available(from the old display) mount that on the colordmd chassis
Yellow is 12vdc
Gray is 5vdc
Black is negative
Thanks Scotty, that's what I needed to know. Why is there a 5v on it? The dmd is 12v right.
Quoted from PinballManiac40:On your power driver board, TP1 should be 13v or higher, if not is LED7 lit? F116 blown?
TP 1 is 13.78v, LED 7 constant lit and F116 fuse is good. Next will check trough opto.
Quoted from DCFAN:Bingo! ColorDMD, please do them all, even the obscure less loved DMD games. Even if a game has some video content like KISS that it might turn out not to be possible to color, at least color the parts that can be done. Anything in color is better than nothing.
Tell that to the 3 guys that are doing the coloring. We all know how long it takes to color just one, what are they supposed to do if they don't have the game you want colored.
Quoted from epthegeek:The bulk of stuff I've been able to color only exist thanks to the people who have loaned me games to work on (bangerjay, he-man40, whysnow, eric_s). You really need to be hands on with the game to do the work.
Exactly and thanks for all your hard work. Could you find a loaner Mustang?
Quoted from Whysnow:speaking of... LMK what you would like to borrow next
Have you got a Mustang?
Quoted from j_m_:so... it's not mustang? (just inquiring for mustangpaul
I see that. But I have GB so all is good. Now all I gotta do is start a GoFundMe to pay for it.
Quoted from TopMoose:NEW CLUE!!!
Maybe one of the 4 remaining Williams games? (Paul Williams, pictured below)
[quoted image]
Mustang.
Quoted from ypurchn:Proud to be only 1 of 149 downvotes. don’t take it personally I use the system like its intended. It’s just a simple acknowledgement that I don’t agree. I didn’t think it was funny thus the downvote. That is all. Nothing more. Nothing less.
I struggle to understand how the recent games aren’t almost immediately done. Why did it take GB so long? Why not kiss? those owners probably have more disposable income available it would make the most sense from a business perspective to start with the higher priced pins and work down from there.
But - I think it takes a true passion for pinball to colorize a game. Therfore, all business logic goes out the window.
I will continue to beat my WoF drum until I sell the pin at which point it will be a short amount of time before it’s colorized and my sale regret sets in.
Who knows, maybe someone is working on it right now.
Quoted from Edster:Could be Austin Powers but Danger Danger makes me think Lost in Space??
That's a good one.
Quoted from TxJay:YEAH!!! BBB! Now the 8 people that have one can enjoy a color DMD! Sounds like a sound business decision!
It's not always about business ya know.
Quoted from docquest:I think most of the people doing the colorization work are not doing it for money. They have a game they love and want a colorized version of it so they sign up to do the work.
That's been stated many times.
Quoted from MK6PIN:Please...can anyone confirm/ deny that Kiss is even on the radar? In truth, seems odd it hasn't been released yet. Demand is certainly there....guessing that the development guys don't have one to mess with?
Does Kiss have a lot of tv or movie footage?
Quoted from PinMonk:Has a fair amount of concert footage.
I wonder if that's causing any delays.
Quoted from epthegeek:Random things ..
Kiss does have some real video footage in it.
Dave Timmer is awesome and does great work.
Mustang has a few sequences that are a lot harder to do than you would expect.
I'm going to do another game that will disappoint people. Deal with it.
Well whatever you do I for one appreciate what you do.
Quoted from Tuna_Delight:Understood, and Mustang certainly wouldn't qualify as anything close to a big seller going by the number of Pinside owners.
I appreciate the efforts of ColorDMD designers on other games; all of my other DMD games are better for them! Just lamenting the artistic opportunity unfulfilled yet on Mustang.
Yeah that's for sure but just know this. Me selling my Mustang Pro would be like me selling my 1970 Mustang car which ordered in Dec. of 69. It just AINT gonna happen! I'll die with BOTH of them.
Quoted from Pinzap:Paul... so really, how much you want for the both of them?
$1,000,000.00 !!!
Quoted from Pinzap:Dang. My limit would definitely be in the $800k range. Oh well, I’ll keep looking.
Yup just a little short.
Quoted from Meegis:I was going to say $2mil, but clearly yours aren't collector quality calibre.
I'm out.
Oh but it's race ready, just throw on the race rubber, race exhaust and race gas and it's ready for the road course and it will hold it's own. And the paint job is PERFECT, not a flaw.
Quoted from Venom77:Wish someone would to a Freddy.. although low number of machines compared to others but it is a official lisc.
I don't understand why Gotlieb is so over looked. So many people have a Gotlieb in their collection.
Probably because no body with a Gotlieb is willing or able to program one.
Quoted from PeterG:COLORDMD ANNOUNCES MUSTANG!
Mustang is the 98th game supported by the ColorDMD multicolor pinball display platform! Mustang was colored by Jeff Collins and is targeted for release by Friday, February 21!
Displays are available and shipping now from our store site! http://www.colordmd.com
The looooong wait is finally over, now the hard part. Which version to get.
