Quoted from PinballManiac40:

Well...Stern just dropped v1.70 game code for Metallica. Looks like someone has some ColorDMD updates to do!!

Looks like the bulk of it won't affect things, but some of the update notes definitely point to things that will need rework, like:

- Removed "casket" text from coffin multiball start effect.

- Added super jackpot stage to snake multiball. After collecting 3
(adjustable) snake combo jackpots, all shots are lit for super jackpot
until the end of the multiball. Playfield shots disappear when
collected, and reappear when all have been collected or the snake
eject is scored.

- Fixed the player up display effect so it does not end with blank text.

- Fixed stray (bad) pixels in the BATTERY mode intro art.

I'm not seeing any graphic chances in the rom. I think all of the changes are simply programmatic

Text changes affect the display but would not be apparent just thumbing through the graphics in pinball browser. The lack of "casket" on one screen will likely need adjusting, and if the snake super jackpots are labelled as such, they will also. Not that these are major changes, they'll just require some time to do and test.

Quoted from Suicyco:

But most CC owners do not have CCC. I wonder how hard it would be to colorize plain ol' Cactus Canyon based on the CCC colorization...

OK, if I do the full CCC do I purchased hhe screen from color dmd ?or can I buy complete kit from them

Pretty obvious when you think about it.

Changing my guess to goldeneye.

Goldeneye was sega games model #42 and James Bond was a playboy.

Best reasoning so far

#459 5 years ago
Quoted from Suicyco:

Can't speak for others, but I certainly would buy a CC ColorDMD.

Perhaps if CCC didn't exist. Yes, I would have bought one too.

However, it probably wouldn't be a smart move considering that CCC is more popular than CC and unfortunately, the CCC color code was written using a different method.

The existing CC code is unfinished and boring without CCC.

Why haven't you made the upgrade yet?

#460 5 years ago
Quoted from Magic_Mike:

Why haven't you made the upgrade yet?

Because I like the original game just fine. I hope I'm wrong, but I would think less than 10% of the CC owners have the upgrade, so I wouldn't call CCC "more popular".

To each his own.

If I ever feel the need to go back to a simpler, bland, unfinished game with an orange display..... I can just remove the kit.

But hopefully one day you could go back to a simpler, bland, unfinished game with a ColorDMD .

Movie 42 in first clue was written by "Brian", FG, Brian always claims to be a writer. Family Guy (hopefully)!

#464 5 years ago

its Batman, although i dont get the clues. i guess bruce is a playboy and lives in a mansion. where does the 42 fit in other than the 42nd release?

#465 5 years ago

Outta nowhere! I guess Batman is an "American Legend" who lives in a mansion? Or something?

Anyhoo, congrats BDK owners! It looks awesome.

[Crying Elvis]

I was actually going to look into maybe trying to borrow an Elvis, for um, no particular reason ... but then I watched some video of the game on youtube and I see that it's got video parts from lord knows what source.

#470 5 years ago

Someday, Grinder.

I'll root for Elvis if you help me root for Junk Yard.

Well the fact that you are considering/considered it, means a lot.

Does the source matter? Couldn't you just chose colors as you see fit for the video parts?

#472 5 years ago

Ok. Eric, another fantastic release of another title that is not even in your collection.
Since you're up to that type of challenge, I have Indy500 and Stern Indiana Jones with a Sigma display waiting on them to be colorized. You have been challenged. Giddy up!! LOL

#473 5 years ago

42 is a movie about the life of Jackie Robinson
One of his nicknames was the "dark destroyer"
He was also a "bat-man"

Junk Yard would be cool. But one of the color guys has to have access to one and there don't seem to be a lot of them.

I vote for Elvis having green hair in the dancing video clip.

Deal!

I don't have many pins. If I didn't go completely overboard with the few I have, I could easily have two or three more. Oh well. The ones I have I'm trying to make the most blinged out, beautiful examples possible and in my mind, that includes a ColorDMD with color.

I know of one I could borrow

Hand coloring video (depending on the scene) is extremely hard to make it look good, rather than blotched on color.

... says the DMD colorist who owns a Junk Yard.

You caught that

I'm a one hit wonder riding off the Popeye fame. Nowhere the the machines these guys are pumping out games.

Besides, I bought my JY with issues and have not had time of energy to setup or fix yet but the thought has crossed my mind

Single strand, In the white circle on the bottom right.

That ain't no baseball logo

Difficult to do black hair on a DMD. If the background is not lit you can't color it for contrast.

Oh sure, I figured black hair on a black background wouldn't work. But if the background could be colored then he would just stand out that much more

Actual music recordings are used from the "68 Comeback" television special, as well as the "Aloha from Hawaii" television special.

Source : Ipdb

They had those rights so the video is probably the same source.

#487 5 years ago

I too thought it was from the comeback special but didn't want to misspeak

Perhaps the "natural" look would work.
