i.e. You can collapse them, then simply refresh your browser. The sub-forums are then re-expanded.
It would be nice if this setting were "sticky".

    Windoz machine
    FireFox browser

    Kununtu mahcine
    Chrome browser

    Thanks!

Robin, Feature Request - make this sticky to the user account.

Actually, looking at what you've got coming up - I'm liking it, and hoping others will too. Scratch my #1 comment.

ChrisHibler: Are things "ok" now? If so, can you mark this thread as resolved?

    Interesting.

    Windoz PC, Firefox 31.6.0
    Collapse all subforums.
Do nothing more than refresh browser window (ala F5)
The "Game Manufacturers" subforum expands, and only that subforum expands.
    Odd.

Hmm. I'm seeing a couple not remember their settings.

Robin, this seems to still be a problem.

First of all, Is there an option in your animated gif software to include the mouse cursor?

Second, are we talking about the open/close state of sub-forum boxes not sticking? Or are we talking about filtering checkboxes not sticking?

    Expanded state.

Gif grabber was use I'll look again for an option to include the mouse. Otherwise I can start using my usual software and YouTube video it.

    Quoted from jfesler:

    Expanded state.

That's currently still being stored using cookies (ugh!).
I'll look into moving this to permanent (db) storage in the user account.

I love the gifs but was just wondering if you could include the pointer. I'm using gifgrabber too and it does not have the option unfortunately.

"LICEcap" apparently can do it. One ugly arsed app but it does capture the mouse, and also mouse clicks.

    This appears to be fixed.

For some reason, on my Kubuntu machine, using either Chrome (Version 37.0.2062.120 (64-bit)) or FireFox (31.6.0) when I close down all subforums, then return, "Game Manufacturers" is expanded.

    Hrm. Okay. Reopening.

Chris, if you're able to figure out how to view your cookies, it might be useful to get a bit more info.

    Go to the forum index.
    Collapse all the groups.
    Find your pinside.com cookie named

    My example:
    pinside-forum-open-setting 34%2C30%2C50%2C37%2C21%2C19%2C42%2C60%2C51%2C53 pinside.com / June 4, 2016 at 8:11:47 PM PDT 73 B

Which translates into having this value: 34,30,50,37,21,19,42,60,51,53

    Reload the page

    Grab the cookie again

    Paste both here.

And, it might not hurt to re-open all the groupings, and grab the cookie one last time.

So...I tried to find said cookies. No joy.
I found the cookie directory, but no Pinside cookie folder.
The same issue exists on my iPad, using the Dolphin browser.

Kubuntu/FireFox now seems to work as expected, i.e. the "state" of the sub-forums remains what the user last selected.
Kubuntu/Chrome still always opens "Game Manufacturers".

Safari for Mac seems to work OK (for me)
Chrome for Mac seems to work OK (for me)
Dolphin for IOS seems to work OK (for me)

I really wish I could reproduce what you see. It could be helpful for digging deeper.
I don't see any way to look at Dolphin's cookies.
