Quoted from too-many-pins:I don't have a clue what happened at Coinopwarehouse but I do know working with family can take a toll on everyone involved. I am actually very surprised Ben worked with Lloyd as long as he did.
Think about it from this direction - you are Ben working you ass off for a pay check while dad is getting rich off your labor? OK maybe they had a different deal and Ben got a percentage of the profits - at that point every decision made had the potential of someone getting pissed off about profit being made on an item sold. Regardless of what deal they had it had to be tough on everyone.
Beyond that Lloyd has several kids - what happens when Lloyd retires or dies? Does his wife get everything or is it divided between the kids? How would that split work if Ben was the one doing 75% of the work? And so on.
Knowing Lloyd I am sure he will make sure Ben does OK - he is a good father. But it might have just been time that Ben decided he could do better long term on his own. Or maybe this is just another way of expanding without saying Coinopwarehouse has a new division.
Regardless that is none of my business and I wish both Lloyd & Ben lots of luck in the future.
I talked bout this a bit with Lloyd yesterday as I was picking up a game from his Hagerstown locale... you pretty much nailed it... bottom line Ben wants to test the waters on his own... should be interesting.
