I guess these batteries can leak. I found this in my battery box, unopened package best before 2018.

Yes they can - I've had that happen too. If its worth the hassle, I think Duracell will replace that - just contact them. Good thing it wasn't in a device!

Yeah, me too. I get the impression from some that the reason they use these is they don't leak.

Was it stored somewhere with extreme temp?

All batteries leak. Lithium batteries can just go for a longer period of time without leaking, and when they do, it's usually less messy.

That's why NVRAM is usually the best option when possible.

    No, in my house.

Thanks for info. I also assumed that the coin batteries would not leak. Some of my games I did not convert to NRVAM based on my false assumption....

gee, according to people here they never leak...
and pin prices always go up...
    and leds produce no heat...
and anyone who disagrees is kaneda...
and unicorn vomit GI is awesome...

Maybe theres a lot of crap info here.

Do you live at nr. 666?

So is there any nvram to use in stern Sam games to get rid of the battery?

    #12 7 years ago

Batteries won't keep a charge when they start leaking correct? So if you're aren't playing you're games enough to know if the batteries are dead, take them out. If you're collection is too large to do that, then get NVRAM. I think those are good rules unless you like living dangerously.

Just curious - are you a glass half full or glass half empty kind of guy?

They can leak at any time. Holding a charge (or not) has little to do with it. Leaking batteries can still hold a charge for a good while. Although, by the time a battery does go dead because of a leak, it's usually too late and you have a big mess on your hands (or rather, the board).

I wonder who stole half my drink. And why did the leave the rest, is it bad?

To their quick surprise, they accidentally sipped the entire drink and just spat out what they didn't want

I did fill out a form on their website, have not heard from them. Will keep you posted.

So any NVRAM for Stern SAM games? I've got a couple of games I'd like to convert.

    #20 7 years ago

How often should I change the coin style batteries that are in my SM and LOTR LE?

    #21 7 years ago

Duracell sent me a coupon for $5.00
