What if you did a second page of the same image that was maybe perforated and removable from the book so as to not change the integrity of the book and yet people could still get the 3D model out of it? I wouldn't perf the entire thing as that would get very expensive but perhaps just on the spine edge of the page so it was easy to remove from the book? Or perhaps a fold out page much like a Playboy centerfold? Not that I'd know anything about that.
