I know it's been covered a bit here. Please bear with me as I have a few specific questions. I have a mix of games from 80s arcades to Gottlieb EMs right up to Full throttle. I was thinking of changing my arcade over to quarters or tokens. Either would be free for my guests. I've just reached a stage in my collecting/hobby that I think enjoying the replay etc is part of the fun.

Here is m current idea. I would like to preserve the original condition of my games. If the mechs can't be modified, I could buy new mechs (at least one per game) if they were needed. I would just take the original mech and keep it with the game should I decide to sell it etc.

I have no experience with mechs. I did watch a few videos and found this mech online that takes both quarters and tokens so I could work my way through the problem and decide if I wanted to go all the way to custom tokens.

Here is the mech I found with a simple search. It can take either quarters or .984 (25mm) tokens.

    Any thought or suggestions appreciated.

As far as I can recall, you just need to pop out your current mechanism (assuming you have one) and pop in the new one. I don't see the price for the mechanism in the link. Just for comparison, Suzo-Happ has a coin mechanism with same specification For $21.40

I have tokens on all my machines. It's a simple swap of the mechs, completely reversible.

There are a few threads over on Klov on how to modify quarter mechanisms for tokens. I just bought a bunch of cheap used mechanisms and modified and kept the originals to replace if I want to. Seems there are many more people on Klov that use mechanisms, guess because free play settings are harder on video's? Those $8 3D printed ones look good but you can get real used ones for that price if you look around.

Thanks everyone. I may order one of the plastic ones just to see how it works.
