test the pre drive transistor and see if it is shorted,thats the smaller one.
Testing big transistors-you had the right idea but wrong meter setting...power off,Set meter on continuty,black probe to ground(grey strap in backbox).touch red probe to transistor tab.if meter beeps that transistor is shorted
