I have a Bally "Old Chicago" pinball machine that I just purchased from a guy and it looks to be pretty original but really needs cleaning and a general "once over" since I just bought it.

When it comes to pins, I'm a novice and I really don't want to cause problems with it.

The big question I have, is what to use to clean the inner coil plunger for the flipper plungers...do I take a Q-Tip and clean it with isopropyl alcohol or what?

Thanks for putting up with a new guy asking probably pretty simple questions.

Thank you! I'll give it a shot...I'll try and take some photos and post what I did (it might give yinz a good laugh)...

Another quick question...I've searched all over but have not been able to find an image or drawing that shows how the "pivot wire" that is used to compress the switch by the ball should be positioned.

To me, this does not look correct and seems to be too "loose" for it to operate properly (or for that matter to compress efficiently). Can anyone out there provide (or direct me where to look) for an example image/photo that shows how it "should" be.

Thank you!!

That's a great photo...thank you!

Digging a little deeper, I found a circuit board on the back that is broken. I'm still looking for a manual for my machine, so I'm not sure what this board is for.

Where is the best source to find replacement boards (if they are available) or is this something I'll have to figure out how to "fix"?
