Coil mysteriously not firing

I have a slingshot coil on my Family Guy that is not working. The switch works, giving points when the ball closes the switch, but the coil doesn't fire.
There is continuity to the pins for both Ground and Power wires.
The coil is in good condition with wires attached.
I thought it must be the transistor / diode so I changed both with an IRL540N, but still no change.
There were no blown fuses or burnt traces / contacts.
I am totally confused. Does anyone have any ideas?

Quoted from Paisley_Pinball:

Thin wires from the coil windings that go to the coil lugs. Any cracks or breaks on those wires ? You have to dig around them with a screw driver or something to check.

Longshot - coil winding broken internally you can't see.

Check the resistance of the coil with your multimeter. If the wire is broken the resistance will be ♾ infinite or open.

Bingo!
Thats what it was. I checked the resistance and it was a bad coil. I wish I had done that to start with, it would have saved me about 2 hours. The coil looked nearly new though. Even once I took off the paper and poked about i still couldn't see any physical damage.

Thanks once again.
