Quoted from Frax:Don't get why you'd even carry tacky sh.. like that...
One man's "tacky" is another mans "AWESOME!"
Gives all new meaning to my "Jackbot" and "Road Show."
"Funhouse" just got a lot more fun too!
Gosh darn kids! Everyone do things the way I demand or else!!! Im at work and tired of being distracted!!!
Quoted from centerflank:It amazes me people get upset about images on a private businesses website. Especially when you are trying to do this from work.
Cmon Frax, I have a high opinion of you, surely this cant really be an issue. Order all your needs over the weekend or at night on your home system.
Those figures wont be going on Sharkeys Shootout, sorry Hilton, well.....OK, if someone bought them for me Id put them in and maybe do something fun with the box.
It's about expectations. I can use computers or my phone during my break, but that doesn't mean I'm expecting to see nude cartoon girls when I'm looking at pinball stuff, nor should that ever be a concern. But hey, there's some nude cartoon girls on a pinball parts site that ordinarily (to my knowledge) wouldn't have that on the front page.
I can see this as a complaint; I do not surf for pinball related stuff on my work computer, but for example when I was using my phone while waiting at my elementary school aged daughter's dance (people on every side) I would not have thought twice about clicking a link to pinball life's site... now I guess I know better.
Do you know what really disturbs me? I have not seen a single person try to make this thread NSFW (save for the anti gay post I think the mods rightly removed). What are we, getting old and mature or somethin'?
If you honestly get fired for browsing a website that contains some grotesquely deformed plastic Anime figurines - then either you were working at the wrong job; or you should have known better than to be surfing pinball sites while at work.
Pinball and tits have gone together since the beginning.
KarnEvil.jpgWow.... you deserve to be kicked out of here!!
Haven't you heard? This forum is pinball... its all warm & fuzzy stuff! Nothing negative or anything that may hurt somebody's FEEEELINGS!
I will definitely go to the Pinball Life website at my job to see if the IT Police waddle over and bust me. They will make me a very wealthy man if they try and shitcan me for that.
I don't have an opinion on whether they are tacky or not, really depends on the machine they are placed in. But I do agree that it'd be nice if the thumbnail had black bars over the explicit parts of the figurines with the real uncensored photo showing up when you click on it. Should make everyone happy.
First of all Terry can do/sell whatever he wants on his website, it is his website. Second....Have any of you heard of lunch break? Yeah, its this time at work where the boss is ok with you buying pinball parts on his/her computer?
They are dolls, not even pictures of *real* people! Dolls as erotic material? That idea seems much worse than the pictures themselves.
The anime dolls are solidly in the racy-but-cute department. I can understand them simply not being someone's cup of tea; opinion noted and respected. To further classify them as any sort of pornography is where you lose me. If it's porn you're looking for, there are 1000's of web sites you can be directed to.
As for NSFW (I had to look this up as I had never heard of it), what sort of work place considers naked dolls porno?
Also, inadvertently exposing this picture to a minor is far from exposing them to porn. Did I mention they are dolls? If naked dolls are porn then my 7 year old daughter has been exposed to a lot of porn!
Bottom line: these are naked dolls sold (in this case) as a pinball mod primarily for 2 pinball machines that already have nudity on them (and of *real* women, no less). I refuse to believe we live in a world so uptight that a picture of dolls wearing no clothes is in-any-way-shape-or-form pornographic material.
Again, total respect for anyone who thinks they are tacky/unnecessary/ugly, etc. To each his own. But to be clear; these are not pornographic photos by a long, long shot.
Funny, I've had these listed on my site for years and no one seems to care - http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=3218. These are actual naked women, not dolls!
As for the *front page* issue; these items are new to my site. New items generally spend some time on the front page. Once they are *not new* or they are gone they will no longer be on the front page.
Terry.
And yes, several sets have sold since this thread was started

Some of the more socially inverted Pinsiders are known to be Agalmatophiliacs.

It's a good thing for Terry that he's not responsible for people's perverted imaginations.
Quoted from trilogybeer:They would look great on Attack from Mars .
They would need motorized pasties with tassles that spin when you hit the saucer.
I'm shocked , shocked that anyone would think this is an issue let alone a dismissible offence. Get a job working for a grown up non PC BS organisation that wouldn't hold you responsible for a 3rd party website that isn't intentionally xxx rated, that's who I'd petition; your employer.
Go nuts PBL!
Frax!......Nobody cares what your opinion is! You actually opened a thread about this and called it NSFW? lol
What world do you live in?........ its not 1954 anymore dude! Wake up and smell the coffee! Take your religious views and fcuk off back to church and stay there! We dont want religious nutjobs in this hobby.
Most likely you will report me for this, its what brainwashed idiots like you do!...
NSFW! ahahah
P.s Do you have learning disabilities?

They are dolls, but your average Mattel doll that can be picked up at Wal*Mart probably isn't sitting spread eagle with a sexually suggestive pose. I'm not offended, but I can respect why people wouldn't want to see it when browsing the net in public either.

Not cool BorisX.
Hes a religious whackjob! Thats what he is! Or hes trolling!
He had no right to open this stupid thread!
I bet this guy is a real hoot on a bachelor party weekend! Not!
Seriously. What has happened to Pinside in the last week. We have went from helping each other with pinball issues and discussing the next title and mods to this type of crazy shenanigans in many a post.
Quoted from PinsideMike:Seriously. What has happened to Pinside in the last week. We have went from helping each other with pinball issues and discussing the next title and mods to this type of crazy shenanigans in many a post.
The crazy shananigans are usually due to people starting crazy topic threads... ..NSFW? really? ...
Quoted from Pinchroma:LOL if that were true I would be commenting on nearly everything you post You are a cranky individual
Quoted from blownfuse:Now I'm confused, there's a difference? People are too touchy these days and trying to out do each other to be the most PC, that amazes me more. Back to pinball for me, nothing to see here.
Steve
People are way too touchy and pc.
Look at the Clippers owner,it's not enough to say what he said
was stupid(in the privacy of his home in this case)but every
reporter tries to be more outraged then the one before them.
The gay, racist police are out in force and you better watch buddy
Quoted from pinballlife:As for NSFW (I had to look this up as I had never heard of it)
I didn't look it up, just figured it meant - *Not Shit For Worry*.
Quoted from BorisX:Take your religious views and fcuk off back to church and stay there!
It's not about being being shocked and outraged that there are naked dolls on the site. It's more about having those pictures pop up on your screen when you're not prepared for it.
I can see a scenario where you head over to pinballlife for some parts, and someone walks past your cube and sees the pictures of the dolls on your computer and goes and rats you out to HR. Now you're in HR's office having to explain that they're just plastic dolls for pinball machines. You may or may not get fired, but it would suck to be in that situation having to defend yourself.
IMO it would be better to simply add a link to the item description that says "NSFW. Click here to view it."
Either that or purchase from another site when you're at work.

I would love for that to happen to me. The person who rats me out and then the HR flunkie would make me very wealthy.
I also have the utmost respect for the poster who said they made a decision to never work for a COmpaNy that has such imbecilic "policies". Truer words were never said.

You shouldn't be looking at pinball sites while at work
Have you considered maybe contacting pinballife rather than a fussy Pinside post in public? And to say that thumbnail makes it so you can't shop at work is completely ridiculous. Lol.
Quoted from BoJo:You shouldn't be looking at pinball sites while at work
Yeah, I'm sure nobody on this forum has ever done that.

This is nixxy, any new guy that rants like this is him so please report him.
Yep... everything from the "fcuk" to the syntax..... Too bad Robin has to go through time and expense because of one assclown.
Forget the content, what about the pricing? It's downright offensive!
You can get the same set for less than half the price on other sites.
Even cheaper if you buy 3 or more sets.
It even comes with a free bottle of lotion!
One of the last three statements is false
1) did you email terry with your comment? He is very responsive.
2) he probably didn't "put" it on his home page. His storefront software probably puts random, newly added items on the home page so I doubt he even knows it's there.

Aside from the post from Terry earlier in the thread, I would have thought you might be right.
Insert "The More You Know.jpg" here...
So the advice given to Frax is to quit his job because he shouldn't be working for a company that might take offense to weird masturbatory figurines popping up on his computer? If only life were that easy. However, I know that he has a family and at times I'm sure they enjoy eating. I'm thinking the only solution here is to avoid the internet at work entirely which is unfortunate. There's just too many reasons for employers to easily get rid of employees.
Quoted from joestro78:I'm thinking the only solution here is to avoid the internet at work entirely ....
Exactly.
If you are at work, you should be doing your work, not surfing for pinball parts.
If you MUST surf at work, use your personal phone.
