I finished installing some addressable LEDs into SM. There is a set under the backbox and along the apron, and are tied into the gameplay using a Pinduino. I think it came out pretty well (and the end game sequence is nice at 7:42).

If anyone wants the code: https://github.com/elyons/professor_pinball_pinduino_sketches/tree/master/SM-Apron-Back

Does anyone have a scan of the Doc Ock magnet area? It would be greatly appreciated and would help get a SM looking great again.

Quoted from DCFAN:

Somebody did not have the magnet core at the same level as the playfield. If you cannot get a scan, you may want to try filling in the damage and putting in one of Cliffy's carbon fiber version of the magnet protector.

Excellent idea and the #2 choice.

While shopping a SM, I had a chance to replace the GI with addressable LEDs. Get ready for full color controlled and interactive GI! This video just shows some demo code that I quickly wrote up to test the layout, but since I'm using the pinduino, I'll be able to monitor all the game activity happing on J6 and J7 of the power driver board. Since Spiderman has tight integration of specific flasher for each of the villains, I'll be able to use the pinduino to do full-game color effects such as Venom causing the GI to turn blue, Green Goblin green, Doc Ock red, and Sandman yellow.

Thanks for the replies guys, I will give it a shot. I guess I will do it without the led ocd for now and I can add it later if I don’t like how it turns out.

If helpful, I am shopping an SM out and when it came to GI, sunlight, frosted white LEDs were the winner when comparing all three types of white LEDs. There are pictures in that thread: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/professor-pinball-putting-spidey-back-into-an-sm#post-5223497

Awesome, thanks for the tip. I just read through the linked post. Now I have to figure out how to do those addressable LEDs after watching that youtube video you made. That was incredible.

Glad you like that and I can't wait to finish the programming for addressable LEDs in SM. That is a replacement of the GI and if you are interested in doing that, send me a PM. Happy to chat about what it takes to do.

I finally finished installing all the addressable LEDs and the programming for the pinduino to create and amazing interactive light show for Spiderman! This is one of the best setups I've done. All of the GI was replaced with addressable LEDs, and LEDs were added to the ramps, Doc Ock web slinger, and I made light rails with them.

Code (open source, as always):
