Calling all Spiderman maintenance experts:
Figured I'd start here even though this is a mechanical/maintenance question.
After rebuilding my pop bumpers, I have that annoying situation: left over parts (pic attached.) I can't say it was immediately correlated, but soon there after, sandman would score randomly when the front barrier was down. I've confirmed via config menu that the switches are firing without the ball contacting the sandman switches and no other actions on the PF.

Seems obvious to look for holes for the missing screws. I've searched extensively in the sandman area but nothing stands out. Nor do I remember having to remove screws from that area near sandman.

Any thoughts appreciated. Extra credit I suppose if you know where those screws belong!

Quoted from weaverj:

look like wood screws, like for the bubble level. sorry, that probably doesn't help.

Agreed on the wood screw. And it's definitely not for the bubble level. I'm beginning to think I forgot these screws when I pulled up all the hardware around sandman, and perhaps I can't see the holes as they are covered now...

Still trying to find the screw specification around sandman in the manual...

Quoted from weaverj:

i just put a cliffy on the sandman vuk hole and don't remember anything like those, and trust me, i removed a ton of the playfield up there.

Thanks for the help. It would (not) be hilarious to find out that these 2 screws somehow meandered into my rebuild inventory. I believe this is all about the 2 switch pads on either side of the VUK. Running the switch audit shows that they're firing randomly. I was simply sure that I caused it somehow (by not having these screws in place...)

Looks like I may have been wrong about the source - I believe the switch in the test that tripped was actually the opto. Cleaned up the opto's right before the VUK with a q-tip and some Iso. Seemed to reduce the incident rate. Going to try again tonight...

Check out my sweet, new topper. Hand carved by an artisan in Denmark from a single block of plastic!
