Spider man vault here,Most likely one of the last I will sell.Cant replace it with a better machine for the price they go for today.

I agree. The price is so hard to justify. Great game, hard to find in great condition. Every one selling them needs to just hold the line at 7.5-8K

I’ve been a Spidey fan since i was a kid. My favorite comics to read and cartoons to watch. Loved the original movie trilogy with Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. I was also tempted to buy the Comic book vault edition because of how stunning it looks. But, I’m glad I bought the original. Would have loved the black version but i can’t complain with the one I got.

My wife loves it and has told me i can never sell it. I agree!

What's the consensus on which color dmd looks the best for this pin?

It's the one thing I've been procrastinating to do on my machine.

I know some of the movie scenes are kinda horrible looking on the dmd and can't be fixed but I just want to know what looks best.

It's by no means comprehensive but for a small sample size check out my YouTube video clips I posted to YouTube.

I usually buy color DMDs for most of my games but the animations on the games during this timeframe look blurry to me. The style of the animations don't translate well to color. I had one on Ghostbusters and it just didn't seem worth it. I think the red looks the best, I have that on my Spidey (with a red filter) and Kiss.

I am changing my mind and want to really clean up my SM. Does anyone know if this website is legit? Can anyone recommend a place that sells cabinet decals?

Ive been going through this as well.

Im not sure about the decals from this place, as I dont think they take orders from the US.

Also, apparently the print file going around for the stock version of Spider-Man leaves a lot to be desired, and doesnt print well. Which I would assume is why retrorefurb isnt selling it any more.

How do people replace their cabinet decals?

#2360 5 months ago
Quoted from hiker2099:

How do people replace their cabinet decals?

Ooooh boy! It takes a lot of work because you have to completely remove the old ones, any glue they left behind, prep the cabinet so it's perfectly smooth and then apply new ones. The first thing you have to do though is get new decals that are worth using and AFAIK Stern doesn't sell them or license it out to anyone else to make. If you search the restoration forum you'll find a lot of how-to's on this process, there are some youtube vids on it as well.

#2361 5 months ago

Does anyone know of anyone selling plastic protectors for the plastic behind doc ock and the one behind sandman? I found a plastic set but would like to protect these as they are both busted.

Lol I know how to literally change it. I meant how are people finding the decals to replace them

It seems most get retro refurbs alternate sets.

I have the scanner most use to capture cabinet decals, so maybe I can scan mine, clean up the damage, and make a good print file.

It will be some time before I get around to it though, currently have Getaway and Gofers cabs to do.

#2364 5 months ago

Maybe I’ll go with one of those alternate cabinet arts

PinballCenter doesn't take US Orders. I've ordered cabinet art from RetroRefurbs several times and they have really good products.

Hoping someone can help me iron out some issues on a spider man I just picked up. Was cleaning up the cabinet inside and noticed this wire on the back panel wasn’t soldered on with the exception of a black wire to the right panel flasher. Any ideas where this goes?

Looks like it is the power and ground for that flasher. It should terminate to a 2 pin IDC connector and plug in somewhere under the playfield with a matching connector. I'd bet the connector is still connected, but those wires pulled out.

Any chance you could follow yours and see where it goes? Nothing is jumping out at me. Where is the red lead soldered to on the flasher?

Just checked mine. The flasher does not have a wire harness as I was thinking. If that wire is soldered to the flasher, it may be a mod someone tapped into the flasher to accommodate.

I'm not sure what plastic you are talking about, but if it is the Sandman vs Spiderman plastic that is just left of the pop bumper area....here is a thread about it and a protector for it:

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/poll-is-your-sandman-vs-spider-man-plastic-broken

I think it is easily the most broken plastic in Spider-Man and many people either don't know theirs is broken...or in denial about it being broken. Pinbits used to include it in one of their plastic protectors sets, but then later pulled it. It was a bit of a pill to put in, but it is very much needed as the Sandman webslinger aiming the speeding ball right at that plastic is just asking for it.

One was designed and sold separately at:

https://www.fabunlimited.com/pinball

, but I do not see it listed with his pinball parts now. I would suspect you may be able to contact Jason at Fabrication Unlimited and he would maybe make one for you.

My dock ock magnet doesn't throw the ball up into the VUK, it just kind of whips it. Am I correct that it should throw it up into the saucer sometimes?

It's not 100% on getting it all the way into the VUK but it does work most of the time.

#2385 4 months ago

Hopefully I didn't just miss it, but wasn't having much luck searching through the thread. About half the time I go to lock a ball or start a mode, the back up-post comes up 100% of the time, but doesn't always deflect the ball into the scoop and the ball will end up coming back into the pops or passing by the post and ending up in the pops. Luckily it's a virtual lock anyway so it counts as a lock or mode start shot, but wasn't sure if this was a common issue on this game or if there was something I should try adjusting. Thanks!

This is pretty common, at least with my machine.

Ditto, on mine. A fast moving ball on the left orbit can and will skip straight to the WEB lanes. I haven't had a right orbit get past the post and come down the left side, that I can recall, though.

I had the same issue - it can occur in both directions and was more frequent after cleaning/waxing. I found that there is a fix - see screen shot below. I ended up just buying a blue bumper and using double sided-tape to apply it in the same location as on the 'upgrade' part from Marco. It has worked well with some shots still bouncing out - but way better than before!

How consistent is everyone's bank bust start sequence? Mine never works right. It should fire a ball, from the shooter lane, all the way around to the left flipper, but mine always goes into the Sandman vuk. I do have mine a tad high, regarding pitch. I don't know the actual degrees, but the bubble is a little past the top line on the shooter lane level.

I don't think mine has ever failed to get the ball around the loop to the left flipper. Check alignment of the forks on the autolauncher and ensure they are not making the ball rattle by not hitting it flush.

This may not be it but I’ve found with the earlier SAM games, the plunger is pushing the ball a little too far up the lane which makes the auto launch not have as much power as it should. An easy way to check is to slightly pull the plunger back and see if the ball moves down and makes full contact with the forks. I fixed the issue by adding some washers to the front cabinet part of the shooter.

I didn't know they officially did an upgrade / fix for this. I used some "drop dead" foam back there (and in the Doc Ock hole) to prevent bounce outs off of the diverter post.

No....I was just looking as I was talking about it with some of my friends recently too. No luck. I would expect there would be a substitute as it was just a stiff, stick-on foam, but I don't know what it would be or where to get it.

It works great in the Doc Ock hole though.....0 bounce outs since I padded it up.

Here are a couple of pics. Plus - here’s a link to the pinside thread I think I read over when I was addressing the issue on my game. There is a pic at the end of thread where the metal post to the right of the blue pad has a black rubber on it - mine doesn’t. Not sure if adding the rubber would make things even more reliable.

Hey all if anyone is interested in a version of my "deluxe snap on armor" for spider man please check out

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/stern-spiderman-deluxe-armor-interest-thread

and let me know if your interested and which design you like more... I'm definitely going to make a deluxe armor for Spiderman since I have one and I really don't like the default generic black (pear-shaped generic, not the "Spiderman black" stern armor.)

here are the prototype designs I'm thinking of, if your interested please reply back to the thread above not here as I don't want to spam this forum.
