Not being a price pumper but I would package BSM as an LE like it is and try to shoot higher. It’s a nice game. Love the mirrored BG.
That being said SM has really good value for how good it is. From the time range. TSPP and LOTR can get good prices and I don’t think SM should be too far behind. In general 2000-2010 sterns were built really well and pretty loaded.

My Vault is as fun or more fun than machines I paid double for.Great Value.

Very happy to be back in the club. My first three-pete game, lol. Just finished installing Tilt Graphics art blades. I really love how they look. I still have my Back Alley buildings and subway from my previous game, but I never did get the buildings to fit quite right on the vault. And without the buildings to balance it, I fear the subway makes the right side feel too unbalanced. I think I will just leave it like this. These blades really finish off the vault well I think.

Yeah, the Back Alley stuff was great for covering up the awful plastics photoshop on the standard version, but I never felt the need for them on the vault. I'm a two-timer and learned my lesson on the first sell.

#2154 1 year ago

I thought the background would hold up well from the translite to work for artblades too. Should make a nice set all together. PM me if anyone is interested.

Yes I have a Vault, but like all the SM and over the years any friend who was looking for one I said grab the first local one that come up for sale of either model and they would be happy .

Haha...nothing to be beaten on. I really can't sell the buildings as I have done some...er....modifications trying to get them to fit right on my previous vault. The long building that goes behind Goblin is basically destroyed. When nothing else worked, I thought maybe using the front facade only would work, but it looked really silly. So...yeah...I do not have the kind of skill it would take to make it look right again.

The subway I still may or may not use. It might end up as a topper even. I like that damn thing quite a bit.

Wow Pinstein translite in on my SMVE! Good quality nicely packaged and quick shipped! Highly recommend.

You know what it looks like

Quoted from gambit3113:

It does, but the Ultimate version of GG is really dumb looking.

I stuck a few "Hulk...SMASH!" call outs from the Avengers pin into my SMVE. Green body & purple pants.

Howdy, I’m fixing up my project Spider-Man. The Doc Ock hole is badly damaged and I wasn’t sure what to do about it short of swapping the playfield, which I don’t want to spend the money on right now. Anyway, after looking at several options, I decided to try covering it up with a piece of carbon fiber sheet. I’ve got a CNC router so it cut cleanly. It’s only slightly thicker than Mylar.

I was wondering what you guys think of this cover-up. I was originally hoping to do an overlay, but I think that’s beyond my skill level.

It looks good to me. The black carbon fiber looks like the material from the black spiderman suit. Well done!

#2163 1 year ago

Good alternative imo. I’d make a couple more, the carbon fiber does start to seed after a while at the lip.

#2164 1 year ago

Let’s just show this again for weekend fun since it’s solid and legit. My friend somehow got the combo champion. Jerk!

Hi all! Spider-Man is my first Pin purchase and is currently the only table I own. I picked it up last spring and have been having an absolute blast playing it. I've been having an issue though. Has anyone ever experienced balls sticking at the right orbit behind that spring gate that's located next to Dock Ock and the "lock" insert? It's happening to me frequently enough to be annoying. Balls will nestle and get stuck at that gate and won't come loose without nudging the table. I've already verified that the table is level and have the pitch of the table a little steeper than level, with the bubble touching the top line. At first I thought that maybe the balls had become magnetized and were sticking there against the metal lane guide becasue, but new balls did not fix the issue so now I don't think it's a magnetism issue. After having closely examined the area and manually recreating the issue, now I'm thinking it might be becasue the "lock" insert that is located right there is just ever so slightly raised above the surface of the playfield surrounding it. It's very minor but might be just enough to hold a ball in place that happens to nestle perfectly between the metal lane guide and insert behind that spring gate. Any thoughts or ideas on this and what I might be able to do to correct it?

Is the little one way mini gate bent down or too far to the right causing a ball trap? You can check for magnetization of the balls with lightweight paper clips.

The mini gate doesn't look bent down to me, but then again I don't exactly have a direct point of reference to compare it to. I'll have to look more closely at some photos and see if I notice anything different about the appearance of the one on my table. I'll also check to see if I can slide it inward at all. Thanks for the tip with the paperclips as well.

I would just run a ball along it manually to see if the gate is causing the hang-up or not. I would be very surprised if it's just a slightly raised insert stopping the ball if you are really at the proper pitch. I know you mentioned the bubble is at the top line, but know that the bubble can often not be trusted. I would use a digital level, angle finder, or even a phone app to check, and make sure you are checking directly on the playfield (not the glass, cabinet, etc). Sorry if that is information you already know, but just covering the basics since you mentioned it's your first machine. At either rate, it seems to me the playfield would have to be super shallow and floaty to allow a ball to stop there.

I think it looks good. You might have to put a piece of mylar down in front of it as the ball may jump up and hit Doc Ock and not go in. I had that happen when I put on the Cliffy magnet protector. The mylar made it not as much of a lip and the ball didn't jump.

I have run it manually through that area and it's hard to say what's causing it. I'll use your advice and set the level and pitch directly on the playfield rather than the glass as I've been doing. Your instincts were good to suggest that and I appreciate it. If push comes to shove and everything is level and pitched properly and I've checked everything that has been suggested and it still does it I'll probably just see if I can get a replacement for that gate to be sure that's not what's causing it. Thanks again.

The full Pinstein SM Vault package, in all its glory. This is how the game should have looked from the start.

The blades are awesome. Every art blade should be made like these. The material is so much sturdier and more clearly durable and scratch resistant than anyone else’s blades. Buy with confidence.

The new translite while so nice wasn’t being lit up enough with the stock fluorescent tube. So an Arcade Upkeep Dimming Backbox Panel did the trick, also got the Arcade Upkeep Stern Smart Color Under Cabinet Kit for it.

Thanks for the pic, it’s much better than the one on their website. So is it worth the $? Looks like it does a pretty good job of lighting the translite.

I have on on my OG Spiderman and it is great. Lights the transilite way better and makes it pop. As a bonus, they dim when you are playing so you don't get the glare on the glass. It is definitely a win win.

Yes it’s worth it. They also go on sale every year Black Friday I think. And you can adjust how much they dim or not during gameplay and attract mode. Lights up soooo much better than the fluorescent tube.

I agree and really love mine BUT I will say that if you have the LCD ColorDMD like I do, while in attract mode you will see a very slight shadow on the bottom center of the translite from the top of the display that sticks up over the speaker panel. You don't really see it during the game because it's dimmed down a lot and I still think it's much, much better than the tube but it is something to be aware of especially if you are really OCD or someone that's going to be really bothered by it.

I bought SMVE when announced. Its been my favorite
Stern and gets plenty of play. Had replacement play field.

Got a few games in today it's awesome.

Spider black made it upstairs. Ended up adding HD glass and Pinstadiums. UV tied into the sandman flasher makes the game feel more modern.

I know the opposite has been tried and does not work. I believe, due to board revision mismatch.

I recently sold my original SM. Pulled these off prior to selling.
I bought these side rails back when Steve Ritchie has making/selling them.
The red back piece is a separate piece that sandwiches behind.
Does anybody remember what they were going for back then? Or have you seen them for sale recently ?

The topper is made of metal - I have no idea where I got it or what i paid for it.

Thanks for any info on these so I can add good descriptions when I post an ad.

Thanks for the hint/info. I did find where they used to be for sale. Europe had them for $150 but they’re out of stock. There are posts of them for sale about 10 years ago - makes sense, that’s about when I found my machine in Iowa.

Always LOVED that topper. If memory serves that had to be one of, if not the first aftermarket topper ever sold. If I had the ceiling room I would love to have one. I'm assuming I don't, but just in case...how tall is it?

I'm sure it's in here, but I apologize. I just got my machine and I love it so far! Only complaint so far is the music. Just curious if anyone has custom code using the movie music?

The easiest Must do Mod for this game is to get a red(dococ)/green(Goblin)/Orange(sandman)/Blue (venom)Led strips
about 10 bucks each and mount them to Bottom/ back Of cab and hook each one to its respectable color Flasher in Game
During games it is great to See The color Emanate from The Floor and wall and
After your game when the SM Song plays, Just Watch that Color Show to go with the tones of the music Score like in Close encounters of the 3rd kind movie

I’ve been wanting to get some flipper bat covers as well.

Any chance either of you guys could show what they look like on your game, please?

Also, does anyone know where I might be able to get a nice spidey decal for a Pingulp? I’ve only been able to find stickers on eBay. (Looking for something like the one I have for Deadpool)

Any info is appreciated, thanks!
