Spiderman's DMD animations are a grainy mess. For those that have colorDMD, is the upgrade worth it?
View and decide! I'd get it for sure. Love ColorDMDs on all of my games.

I'm also taking off Back Alley Creations Subway mod further modded with LED lights and Back Alley Creations Buildings modded with lights. Let me know if you're interested in the set. Would let it go pretty cheap compared to buying from the the store. I believe they both have wires with alligator clips connected to them, that clip onto a GI lamp to power them for lights. You would need to get new velcro strips to attach them to your game.

I'll have to see if someone with ColorDMD streamed a game. As much as I like the promo videos, I like to see them running during a game as well. Gives me a better feel for it. Do you keep it in dots? I would imagine smoothing makes it look pretty bad.
here is a video of gameplay someone posted to youtube. he has it in dots mode. dots or dotsxl mode for this game would probably look best.
The original dots on this game are bad, there is just only so much you can do with crappy source. But at least the color accentuates the scenes and makes the game look a bit more modern.

Yeah, definitely looks a billion times better! There's actually definition in the shapes with the different colors and contrast. I've got 3 games to put colorDMDs on. Now to determine if I want to buy all 3 at once or not...

Did you pick up CPR9999's? Saw that when I checked out his TF...amazing game. I was slightly tempted to sell my vault and pick that one up!
I've always liked the building/subway mods, but not sure how they would look or fit on a vault. Let me know how much you were thinking...maybe I would give it a try depending.
Either way, congrats on the pick-up. SM is still one of my all time favorites!

Yes, that was the one I picked up. The side armor with mirror behind the webbing is, imo, the highlight of that machine. The PC blue is very nice! I'm not a huge fan of mods in general, so I took it off, and I prefer it much better. Also needed to get some white lights in the machine, since it was so dark with Blue/Red GI, plus also not a fan of colored GI in general, so I'm currently working through replacing those lights.

Yeah...the GI was the only thing I didn't love about that machine. Give Comet's Sunlight 2SMDs a try. Beautiful. There is a pic of my old machine where I used them in this thread...

I generally use Comet 2SMDs in Natural white for newer games or warm white for older games. Bright without blinding and really makes games look very nice!

I like natural too for games with cooler colors. The warmer colors on SM really popped for me with the sunlights. They are half way between natural and warm...a great compromise. I would say they did not look quite as warm in person as the pic shows. Can't go wrong with either though.
Definitely stoked to have this game. Just ordered new Titans, more Comets, and replacing the flipper bats with yellow. The game had metallic red flipper bats, and again, super hard to see where the upper flipper was in relation to the ball. I am having the hardest time hitting the Venom shot. In all, trying to bring it back closer to stock, but still leaving some more subtle mods left installed.

Without question. I think all the games with digitized video look better with a ColorDMD, and Spider-Man is no exception.

Mods are spoken for!
Quoted from PinRob:Does anyone else think the back alley train car mod is way too big?
yes, I do. TRhe buidlings are ok, but the train is way to big, i.m.h.o.
Quoted from Chisox:Just joined the club this week with a very nice Black Spidey. Awesome game.

It's so black you can't even see the machine!

Anybody have done colored Titan silicone rubbers? And if so could you post a few pics preferably with out a potato camera.
Putting a few extras on today. Tilt Graphics Side inner art, flipper toppers from Cointaker, few colored Titan competition silicone rings, instruction cards, and some frosted Twin LEDs from Comet (those original twin clear top LEDs by Cointaker are blinding!)

No way. Not even worth $500 more!

I own both the original and the VE... both were single owner HUO when I acquired them and both are setup nicely. I think it does come down to personal preference with art vs callouts. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

Given time and someone with a SMVE to test, I could probably make up a sound package. Which sounds from the OG are people looking to put into the VE?
Well based on videos the dots/animations are clearly nicer on the VE. I have played OG Spidey and have always liked the game itself.

Someone at least started a project to put the JK Simmons JJ Jameson call-outs into the Vault because they are fantastic, I don't remember how far along that progressed if at all. Personally I think the call-outs and voice actors on the VE are pretty bad, the animations are better because there are no terribly compressed and encoded live video clips to deal with.
Sm original by a mile. Call outs and artwork blow the VE away imo

The pictures above look VERY similar.
Would you pay 2-3k more...easy decision there-NO.
Quoted from PinRob:Where are people seeing the original @ $2-3k less than a VE?
Not sure just quoting the guy who stated that. Looking on Pinside... Stern Spider-Man original $4-5k and VE version $6-7k
Cab art art translight on original are way cooler looking imo
Oh yeah ...... and my green goblin moves.
Quoted from cpr9999:Not sure just quoting the guy who stated that. Looking on Pinside... Stern Spider-Man original $4-5k and VE version $6-7k
