Quoted from bobukcat:

The inserts for the villains light steadily brighter as you progress towards completing them (dim, brighter, fully lit). If you put LEDs in without LEDOCD they are either on or off. Like I said it's not a big deal to most people but it would bother me a bit.

Also, the 2X and 3X white inserts have different brightnesses that you can't tell the difference if you don't have LEDOCD.

Good point, I forgot about that when I posted.

Hey, I'm in the club! Just picked up my 07 Spidey from a friend making room for Iron Maiden... Been following the thread now for a few weeks in anticipation. It's been two years since I had a machine so I'm pretty stoked for some weekend flipping and playoff hockey.

Anyone looking to sell a SM vault in nj, eastern pa, or conn, let me know.

Welcome to the club! This is a great pin, I have the vault edition that I picked up a few months ago at an great deal with just over 20 plays on it, my friend has the original version, both great games, I just preferred the comic book version over the movie version.

#856 9 months ago

I often wish that I’d got the VE instead of the movie version.

If anyone wants to trade lmk

An LEDOCD board in SM also makes the Green Goblin inserts scroll correctly. They are a horrible blinky mess without it.

Guys, how do I check the Doc Ock magnet? I've played loads of games and hit the Doc Ock target multiple times but the magnet never seems to work. The first time I owned this game it seemed to activate a lot....

Just took the glass off and hit the target multiple times, the magnet isn't working for sure...

Thanks

Make sure the optos at entrance to Doc Ock are not dirty/working.

Optos register everytime. Checked all fuses, unless its not in the back box. All ok.

I believe the fuse is F7, 4 amp slo blo. Did you take the fuse out of the board to test it with a meter?
You can also test the drive transistor Q3 to see if that is working.
Also, I believe the magnet test is in the Coil test under diagnostics.

Turns out it was the fuse holder itself. It was bent open a bit and not making full contact all the time. Bent the tangs in a bit and all is good now.

#871 9 months ago

yeah. interesting. i have two options: that spacer and one a little bigger that's more opaque. i would have thought this one was for the sandman plastic, since it matches a similar one on the right hand side of that. guess we'll find out. tyvm.

Congratulations! Welcome to the club. Fast fun game. Battle royal is a great mode! I actually have mine for sale because my wife doesn’t play it anymore. She is all about STTNG and Iron Man. May end up cancelling the sale because I like the game.

Calling all Spiderman maintenance experts:
Figured I'd start here even though this is a mechanical/maintenance question.
After rebuilding my pop bumpers, I have that annoying situation: left over parts (pic attached.) I can't say it was immediately correlated, but soon there after, sandman would score randomly when the front barrier was down. I've confirmed via config menu that the switches are firing without the ball contacting the sandman switches and no other actions on the PF.

Seems obvious to look for holes for the missing screws. I've searched extensively in the sandman area but nothing stands out. Nor do I remember having to remove screws from that area near sandman.

Any thoughts appreciated. Extra credit I suppose if you know where those screws belong!

look like wood screws, like for the bubble level. sorry, that probably doesn't help.

Quoted from weaverj:

Agreed on the wood screw. And it's definitely not for the bubble level. I'm beginning to think I forgot these screws when I pulled up all the hardware around sandman, and perhaps I can't see the holes as they are covered now...

Still trying to find the screw specification around sandman in the manual...

#886 8 months ago

i just put a cliffy on the sandman vuk hole and don't remember anything like those, and trust me, i removed a ton of the playfield up there.

Thanks for the help. It would (not) be hilarious to find out that these 2 screws somehow meandered into my rebuild inventory. I believe this is all about the 2 switch pads on either side of the VUK. Running the switch audit shows that they're firing randomly. I was simply sure that I caused it somehow (by not having these screws in place...)

#888 8 months ago

switch pads? huh? now you got me wondering.

Anyone know of a source for the three little webbing plastics?
One just to the left of the ball sitting in the shooter lane. One behind Sandman and one behind Doc Oc.
No one seems to sell these.
Surely Stern has these just sitting around after the remake.
But how to obtain them?

Looks like I may have been wrong about the source - I believe the switch in the test that tripped was actually the opto. Cleaned up the opto's right before the VUK with a q-tip and some Iso. Seemed to reduce the incident rate. Going to try again tonight...

I saw they had a 5 piece set and a 3 piece set and it seems you can order custom colors. Never purchased these, so caveat emptor... but was bored so did a quick search. Let us know how they turn out if you do end up buying.

Just ordered the three piece set. I really just needed the shooter lane plastic but may change out the clear ones on the game for the colored.
I’ll post back when they arrive.
