Hello fellow SM owners! My first post on Pinside...
I have a 2007 SM that I pre-ordered as soon as Stern announced it. I tend not to mod my pins too much, and in fact, other than some plastic and playfield protectors, my SM is just how it came out of the box. But when I saw BAC's mods for SM, it really got me thinking... I loved the look of the buildings and train mods. However, I felt that the scale of the train in particular seemed to be a bit too large, at least to me.
So as an experiment, I purchased a model train from eBay that looked to be more to the scale I was after. As a bonus, it already had LED lighting built in.

When I rec'd the train, I found that it was going to be extremely simple to install it into the pin and wire the LED to an insert flasher. Bypassing the model's internal pcb, I just soldered a 150 ohm resistor inline with the LED and ran the wires back to the Doc Ock red spider insert lamp. I fabricated a bracket to attach to the post that has the Doc Ock spotlight, and we're done!
I think next I'm going to try some N scale model train buildings for the left side and see how that looks.

Hi Spidey Fans,
Can someone tell me what causes extra balls to come into play during the Doc Ock multiball? Some games I will be playing the Fusion Malfunction multi with two balls when suddenly a third pops into play. I can't figure out what triggers this
thanks!

Spidey sense is one of my favorite " audio clues" when playing this machine...just a very satisfying nuance to gameplay.....
I am happy to be back in the club. I was more then lucky to find a nib 2010 spidy these days. What a moment. I did some modifikation and set it up. This game is a blast to play. Ritchies best i think.

Sweet find! Definitely one of the best!
Hi Guys,
I was running through the diagnostics flash lamp test and there is both a sandman flasher and also a sandman "arrow" flasher. Whatever the arrow flasher is, its not flashing. I can't even figure out what or where this flasher would be? Any help?
thanks!
From memory; the arrow flasher is under the middle of the 3 yellow arrows directly in front of the sandman. Not the 3 in front of the drop bank. It’s an #89 bulb.
Hello all, ive done a restoration on a spider man, ive clean all and put a playfield protector, this is my problem... Ive check and i guess all the screws are tight, also the magnet bracket...
Any ideas?
Regards
My first thought was that, the playfield protector is very tight to the magnet, and even if i press it against the magnet makes the same sound, so im afraid is not that...
More ideas? Transistor?
Did you re-tighten all the screws in the area of the magnet under the playfield or could something be rubbing/touching the magnet housing?
I always go simple before I go deep. I have made bigger problems myself, then came back to find out it was something ridiculous that I overlooked.
Thats a very wised opinion
"I always go simple before I go deep. I have made bigger problems myself, then came back to find out it was something ridiculous that I overlooked."
Ive also suffer from this in the past...
Well i guess ive check all the screws in the area yes, ive manage to speak with a friend, and another aproach is the gap between the magnet core and the playfield protector...
When the magnet is active and i press the pinball a little bit against the magnet-core, the buzzing STOPs.
So i guess is some kind of gap between...
Is a solution try to cut the playfield protector around the magnet? and put a cliff protector
I would play with the height of the magnet before altering the protector.
I am unfamiliar with how thick the protectors are. But if it’s significant, could you cut a hole where the magnet is and raise the magnet to be level with that surface?
hello, I'm about to get a vault does anyone know what cliffy protectors are needed for this game?
I knew the ramp protectors weren't needed. Cliff made it seem like the scoop was already done as well, but he wasn't sure.
I've only played the vault a few times, but I honestly don't remember what it had on it.
If anyone else has an idea let me know.

The Spider-Man VE is no longer in production! Around March 2018 Stern has moved the VE to their Archive page. This is not too surprising, the VE had about a two year run which is about right. Will be interesting for someone to find out how many of the VE's were produced compared to the 2007 version. I doubt if we will see another Spider-man pin anytime soon. That's ok, this pin will age well as a classic machine.
Does anybody have a set of the "eye" slingshot plastics or know where I can get them? I had them on my first machine, sold it, just got another and really want to add them.
Quoted from Pinzap:Joined the club yesterday
Congrats on your new pin! Really like the topper, may have to look into this for my own Spider-man VE. Are your rails powder coated blue as well? Game looks great? The color DMD is a must in my opinion for this title.
Quoted from Pinzap:Joined the club yesterday... thanks asoa. A few things to tweak still, but my first question for the club... I there a modified rom out there for the VE that has the old SM callouts on it? I thought I read something about this... PM me if you have info.
Nice game! Like the topper. Looks like it has the color dmd which is one of the best IMHO. A solid add to your already nice collection.
Enjoy!
Interested in joining the club.
If anyone in Mn or the adjoining area be looking to sell please let me know.
Want a standard Spidey.
Not looking for anything heavily modded or vault.
Thanks!

Hello to all,
Im in a middle of Spider Man restoration, can any of you guys have already scanned the side arts of the cabinet? One of the sides is really in bad shape...
Just joined the club with the original spiderman. Ordered Colordmd and mirror blades so far, what else is a must add?

Shaker motor is pretty well integrated with the Sandman modes, not sure it's a must-have but I recommend it. Other than that I think that getting rid of the fluorescent tube for a auto-diming LED panel in the backbox is the next best bang for your buck.
LED's are a no brainer. i went with all white. tried colored GI; didn't like it on this title. pinbits plastic protectors with web etchings are very cool. i love replacing ALL the rubbers with superbands from cointaker. shiny, so they reflect light and you don't have to clean them really. they barely get dirty; i'm lazy. will last as long as you have the pin, too. did mine in all blue. cliffys!
Quoted from weaverj:LED's are a no brainer.
I disagree (perhaps I have no brain, like the Scarecrow), unless you go to the expense of putting in OCDLED you lose some of the stock insert lighting effects for the villains. I know some don't care about this but I do, then again I usually prefer the look of incandescents in games that originally had them anyway. I also have not seen colored LEDS for the back-panel villain progress lights that look as nice as the colored 44s when not on.
to each their own. will agree with the OCD board on sterns. i've never seen the need for the board on a WPC though, which is weird. you'd think it'd be the other way around.
okay, it's been debated to death, but can't resist. i'm firmly LED. less power consumption, less stress on electrical components, less heat on inserts and plastics, longer lasting, more color options, brightness options, directional options. i'm sure i'm missing things, too. i will tear a game completely apart to remove every single incandescent.
i think most of the traditionalists stick their noses up at LED's because of the terrible job some people do coloring their games unnecessarily. there are endless pictures of colored GI gone wrong; actually a thread on pinside. kind of shitty, just making fun of people, imo. but it's true, some people can't handle their liquor. doesn't mean you shouldn't drink .

Yeah, I see the benefits of both and definitely not one to stick my nose up at either, mainly because it's too big.

What do you lose? (or loose?)
Each villain has three separate indicators elsewhere anyway: Venom & Sandman at the back and Goblin and Doc on the playfield which flash when running and stay solid when complete each stage or have I misunderstood?

The inserts for the villains light steadily brighter as you progress towards completing them (dim, brighter, fully lit). If you put LEDs in without LEDOCD they are either on or off. Like I said it's not a big deal to most people but it would bother me a bit.

Yeah, but you can look at the mode inserts and/or backboard bulbs to tell where you are.
