Just brought home a Mars Trek, and I'm wanting to upgrade to the retro LEDs that comet has. I'm wondering if anyone has used the kit they offer to upgrade to LEDs. I really want to maintain the warm look of the original incandescent bulbs, but get a little more light from the LEDs.

Also does anyone have a rubber count?

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

Steve from PBR has a rubber kit everything but one of them is correct. I told him and I think he fixed it by now.
One of the sizes I think isn’t made anymore

Thanks! I’ll check it out today. Haven’t ordered anything from Steve in a while. Hope he still has my account open.

Thought of one more thing I need, and it's a super long shot. My left flipper is broken. Both the right flippers are the original sonic flipper (white with the S on them). Does anyone know of any NOS sonic flippers or repros?

Quoted from emspence:

I didn't use the kit, mine is still mostly incandescent but did use some of their bulbs. I don't think they had the retro ones then, so what I got is kinda bright compared to the original-which actually helps in some places on the backglass (like the dark game over and ball 5 etc). I used some of their color changing and "fire" bulbs for cool effects, as posted by a Tom Malloy on Facebook's EM pinball page (you can search there and find it, although video link now seems dead). Basically slow color change bulb goes behind the woman's face in the backglass, and "fire" bulbs go behind where the rocket engines are...I added another on the playfield behind the upper left plastic with a comet on it.
I just replaced the rubber kit on it with one from Titan Pinball. Used their kit, but changed the flipper rubbers to yellow. Would note their kit is short one of the little post rubbers (presumably missed the one in the ball drain).

I installed the retro leds from comet in the back box a couple nights ago. Still need to do the playfield gi and inserts and fix a few sockets in the backbox. Here is the before and after. I think the retro bulbs they offer really match the incandescent look well.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

Your cabinet is nicer than mine. Mine is more “together” but the entire bottom is swollen and the graphics are badly faded and flaking. I really want to build a new cabinet, just no clue how to remake the side art. It’s incredible!
My only other issue is one spinner is missing the decals entirely.
Any source for these or can anyone provide a scan?

For whatever reason I don’t seem to have a picture of the playfield fully restored! Weird

I have the same issue on the spinner decals. I found them on Marcos!

Anyone know of a lock that fits the coindoor on Mars Trek?

#24 3 years ago
Quoted from emspence:

The standard $4 lock from Pinball Resource works fine. I put one on the coin door & on the replacement I made for the backbox door. I think the original latch was still there for me to use with the new lock with the coin door, not sure if the provided latch will work...may need to fiddle around with that, but it will fit in the door just fine.

Perfect. I'll order a couple as I need one for the backbox as well. Also trying to figure out which one fits my Gottlieb Wild Wild West. The opening on the Gottlieb has two flat spots rather than being a perfect circle like the Mars Trek.
