CLR works great! I just had a remote with leaking batteries in it, poped
The crappy batteries, submerged the remote in for (you can watch the old battery gunk bubble away like an alkaseltzer tablet) 15 mins. When it is dome wash in clean water, and then dry with alcohol. Tales rust off of screws, etc. It does warm against using it on aluminium for any length of time, but it works great!

Not really I just reminded you just in case you had battery damage on something (circuit board etc.) And you were dipping it in a container of CLR. I didn't want you to submerge any electrolytic caps in the stuff and ruin them. I have had tv remotes where the batteries have leaked, dipped the remote in a dish of CLR, and you can watch the corrosion bubble away. Same goes for rusty screws, hardware etc. Try it, it is cheap and easy to get, plus you can use it to clean the bathroom!
