I notice a lot of people advertising cliffys on the shooter lane of their game. I am just curious as to why so many people only put the ball eject one on and not the one on the right side of the shooter lane. The one on the right side of the shooter definitely adds some protection as the ball does smack that side all the time when ejecting. Not trying to start an uproar here but I am truly just curious.

Cause you just gotta draw the line somewhere

(Personally I would have drawn the line at the travesty that is switch slot protectors but whatever)

A simple piece of thin self adhesive felt from Hobby Lobby solves the issue

The metal on the side wall is absolutely needed. I saw a location sopranos where it looked like the pinball blasted through the side wall.

Put Mylar in the shooter lane, metal on the wall, be done with it.

If you don't get it right on the outer wall your balls are gonna get nicked up and cause damage to your PF. Go felt

    Something else to worry about

If you can’t install the wall guard right, your playfield deserves to be destroyed. Haha

The left side cops the most bashing. The ball is ejected and bounces off the rail and straight on to the left side of the shooter lane. We put both left and right side on and if Cliffy s kit only comes with the left side we order a right as well. There are plenty of different opinions and plenty of Pinsiders that have some fantastic ideas about this topic.

I'm just sayin if you're going to put one in the shooter why not put the other.

I never used the right side until he started adding the bend in the corner because they would always vibrate into the shooter lane causing airballs off the plunger. Now that he has, I use both pieces of the 2 piece set. I like protectors but do draw the line at full playfield mylar sheets.

I'd rather buy a new PF and hold onto it then cover the PF in mylar if the game is a life long keeper.

Keep in mind this is the only kind of ball protection they approve of.
